This is my Favorite song by Miss Loretta Oliver, she goes down deep in her soul to sing this thing. "Something About GOD'S GRACE" !! Yes Lord, Yes Lord!!
Though I've commented on this one before, the SPIRIT is just so high in this video. This was REAL WORSHIP and acknowledgement of who God is. This was not a performance; you just can't "rehearse" the movement of the Holy Spirit.
Loretta sang that song for somebody that Sunday, but this morning (5:09 a.m. in Chicago) she sang it just for me!! Praise God!!!
Though I've commented on this one before, the SPIRIT is just so high in this video. This was REAL WORSHIP and acknowledgement of who God is. This was not a performance; you just can't "rehearse" the movement of the Holy Spirit.
Loretta sand that song for somebody that Sunday, but this morning (5:09 a.m. in Chicago) she sang it just for me!! Praise God!!!
Sang Mrs. Loretta. Good God Almighty. St. James, Detroit, has a good version of this song also, but, nobody sing it little Sister Loretta Oliver. Bless the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus The Christ. There is something truely about God's Grace.
Ok...i need to know...who sang this song first..was it fellowship or was it st james adult choir(Herman Fredricks was the lead)?....being a mamber of st james all i heard was that version until i saw this video
Ive got to testify ya'll! some years ago, The Devil almost swallowed my life! But Gods grace took me just in time. I was suffering from post partum depression, I had a baby and was all alone with my resposibilities! It was like everything I touched turn to mud...came back home to Chicago and well...God is...GUUUD! Hallelujah!
@LiftingHimUp Haha.. Yea she's sing at Fellowship which is baptist. But she and her sister Vernon Oliver Price (another vocal powerhouse) were raised COGIC. Vernon still is i think. Check your mail
No offense but can't NOBODY sing this like Ms. Oliver and Fellowship!! Lord I misstheir Saturday night broadcast right before Saturday night sing with Taft Harris (old skool ain't it LMBO) on channel 38
Sister Oliver does an awesome job no doubt about it, but NOTHING and i do mean NOTHING tops the original version done by Rev. Charles Nicks & the St. James Adult Choir of Detroit.
This is not a competition between St. James (of which my uncle Roscoe Stanley and his wife were members) and Fellowship, but you have to admit that the SPIRIT was HIGH on this particular Sunday as Loretta sang this song.
You are right, Nicks and St. James were no joke either. Prior to living in Chicago, I spent most summers and my first year of college in Detroit. I stayed on Sussex off Joy Rd. near Greenfield. St. James' broadcast was ALWAYS good. I was there when C.L. Franklin died.
i never said she didn't, Sis Oliver sang the daylights outta this!! but it's just nothing like the original, i've heard many choirs sing "What A Fellowship" they were good but it's not like Fellowships version!! St. James would wreck a church with this even before they sang one note!!
C.L. was my pastor, i was born and raised in New Bethel. i joined St. James in the late 70's.
we just agree to disagree, while Sis Oliver puts her own unique styling to this and does a wonderful job indeed, it's just not the original. St. James made this a classic and Fellowship did the best remake of this i've ever heard. bottom line is both versions minister.
Heellllllooooo!!!! Aaaammeeennn! I'm an old-skool Chi-townian!!! And ohhhhhh how I mmmiiiisssss this sound of gospel in Chicago...and CAN'T NOBODY 'RECT A CHOIR LIKE REGGIE!!!!! ....Thank God for the precious memories!!!!!!
LOL!!!! ALRIGHT NOW! i dont fool with soprano though, lol, i'll sing an alto part inna minute though, they gonna kick me out the tenor section directly! lol
well motha, no dissin here, but i be hittin the notes cuz sopranos r scared or smethin when a song calls for it... u betta be hittin thm high!!!!! lol
I love a challenge (Hee! Hee!) But they do seem scared in my section or they belt too hard!!! I have even heard some vibrato... especially some them ones in the front LOL!
ha!!!!! and a challenge u will receive!!! lol but the lord gives us all dif'rent singn abilities. so i use my coloratura range, altho ima guy, cuz its for him...plus in all the choirs i sing in, our sopranos be too shy or afraid to hit them high end notes...THEY BETTA WATCH OUT!!!! lol ur great!!
Oh-my-Lord! Something About God's grace! Something about Ms. Loretta's voice. Good-God-yes! Thank God for her life example in song. I remember her & the choir singing His Yoke Is Easy. She brings great deliverance to the people. May The Lord add strength and years to Pastor, Father, Rev. Clay Evans. What a life-example unto the the Lord's Church. Pray the Lord continue to give The Ship strength and courage to go forward in faith. "Psalmist David", Cleveland Ohio.
I love this song that Miss Loretta ministers. One time I was thinking about it all week and guess what the Lord showed me some favor and we sung that Sunday!!! I did not know we were going to do it at all...
Another classic song that was created & song by thee 1 & only REV. CHARLES NICKS JR. & THE ST. JAMES ADULT CHOIR OF DETROIT,MI! This song is on there first album entitled The Gospel According to St. James! 1975!
Man, Loretta Oliver is one singing woman. I was an avid "What A Fellowship Hour" listener every Sunday night.... Man, I wish church choirs would go back to that type of spirit and anointing in singing. Fellowship Baptist Church aka Fellowship Sanctified & Holy Ghost Filled Baptist Church.
Hey twahnnc, that would be Ms. Yvette Markham-Green Killing the Soprano note... She a Stratospheric Soprano, She was in her early 20's back in the late 90's when this service was tapped... She still got it to this day! :)
Canabis, I think you switched two adjectives: Yvette was probably in her LATE twenties during the EARLY nineties when this service was taped. I agree with you that she still maintains GREAT range. My opinion is that she and Felicia had the highest range of the soprano section--at least during my time at Fellowship. By the way, what's up with that login name? I pray that spirit is conquered in Jesus' name. Be blessed AND bless others because you can't withdraw from the account unless you deposit.
Something About the Grace of God will lift you up and carry that with me everyday of my life and i just have to give him all praise THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW.......GOD"S GRACE indeed. Talk about singing, she surely can sing...... and the choir is soo......POWERFUL. Wish we had choirs like this in England.
