I agree, but in some ways i dont think so. I think that if you are into old rap, Metal, or anything that isnt that popular, i think you are better. If you can have enough guts to choose your own music that you like, unlike how socity is now, i think you better because you can be your own person. Instead of pop and rap, and just going along with whats cool.
I can't even listen to the bands that I enjoy without seeing the words "poseur" and "mallcore fag". I listen to rock, heavy metal, alternative and punk mostly and I like certain bands like Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Avenged Sevenfold along with the old school bands that I like and yet, I get called a poseur just because I like certain bands. I will continue to support my favorite bands and these people can just suck it!

@deadknightwarrior101 I would agree with you about deathcore, but in my opinion there are a FEW bands that are worthwhile. All Shall Perish has released some good stuff, Winds of Plague are decent....and thats about it for deathcore LOL. However, unlike a lot of people I don't dislike all the -core genres. Grindcore is insanely awesome, and metalcore has some good bands going for it. I don't consider hardcore as a -core genre, even if it has core in its name lol. Just way too awesome.

Death metal has been going for well over 2 decades and its still going strong. IDK if it's so much "judging" as trying to find camaraderie. I know for some people music is just background to whatever else they're doing and they don't really invest much mental energy into their choices. Others memorize lyrics, make mix tapes, etc. I am more in the latter category and thus I lean more towards original rock than pop or Glee- or Idol-style remakes. I like having friends that will go see new bands live with me. So 2 me it's not better or worse, just different!
Depends on your definition of better since we already know different music activates your brain differently. We know that classical music is generally enjoyed by people with higher IQ because of it's complexity, and rap generally by lower IQ since it's mostly negative and is typically a very simple repeated beat. Intelligent people stay away from that type of mental bombardment that has been proven to release less than healthy chemicals often causing depression, or anger.

All Shall Perish has released some good stuff, Winds of Plague are decent....and thats about it for deathcore LOL. However, unlike a lot of people I don't dislike all the -core genres. Grindcore is insanely awesome, and metalcore has some good bands going for it. I don't consider hardcore as a -core genre, even if it has core in its name lol. Just way too awesome.

Death metal has been going for well over 2 decades and its still going strong. IDK if it's so much "judging" as trying to find camaraderie. I know for some people music is just background to whatever else they're doing and they don't really invest much mental energy into their choices. Others memorize lyrics, make mix tapes, etc. I am more in the latter category and thus I lean more towards original rock than pop or Glee- or Idol-style remakes. I like having friends that will go see new bands live with me. So 2 me it's not better or worse, just different!

Depends on your definition of better since we already know different music activates your brain differently. We know that classical music is generally enjoyed by people with higher IQ because of it's complexity, and rap generally by lower IQ since it's mostly negative and is typically a very simple repeated beat. Intelligent people stay away from that type of mental bombardment that has been proven to release less than healthy chemicals often causing depression, or anger.

@4everUSNavy There is no problem with you thinking that guys who listen to Lady Gaga are gay, and guys who listen to country are rednecks. I mean, sure, its offensive, stereotyping, but all it means is you are a judgemental person. However, the problems I have with your post is that afterwards you saying things like "sorry but thats a fact." No, it is not a fact. It is your opinion. If you fail to realize that all it is is your opinion, you will be very disappointed with reality.

The study showed that people who listened to lil-wayne scored lower than people who listened to beethoven. people who listen to kelly clarkson scored lower than people who listened to jimmy hendrix. so its been prooven that music can make you dumber or smarter so cut the shit

People like her music, guess what...MATURE people like her music. No, I don't, in fact, I hate it. But, I am not going to sit here and judge 100% of people that listen to it.

@ItsRobinWhoTalks I disagree with you. Many times the lyrics of songs like that are actually expressing sarcasm towards people with those views. Taken out of context, it may sound like they are just gruesome/cruel. Angel of Death for example. "Auschwitz, the meaning of pain/The way that I want you to die" At first glance this is a cruel statement. But, if you actually know the song and the band, you'll learn that it is a song from the perspective of a German, and the band is actually Catholic.
