  • Is it allowed to use one hand in kendo, or do kendo-practitioners simply don't use it because it's less good/powerful?

  • i want to learn kendo :(

  • a girl taught me Do strike when I was learning.

they usally have better techique than guys.

  • Girls have some advantage because of their smaller bodies. They get more speed than guys. That's why I prefer having some muscle, but still keeping a thin body. It makes me more physically prepared.

  • @xsnowxdemonx Yup. I hate when people bring up that being a guy it would be bad if a girl beat me. Those people are just sexist.

  • what rank are you?

hey it happens but still funny

  • @DarkBlaze1000 girls often are fast in kendo because of their feet movement. Most people in my class are girls and I say they are very talented at the sport.

  • haha! pawnage!

  • This is a tough test for a guy if you outwiegh a female opponent significantly. Go 110% and you look like a tryhard bully. Yet if you do not go 100% your opponent has the advantage. Whenever I'm in this situation, facing a much smaller opponent I go for the fastest small men I can pull off. But I lay off on the taiatari!

I've had big 6 foot tall champion kendoka do the same to me so I've been in Kendo girls shoes too.

  • cool girl, remind me of my ex captain in kendo.. :D.

    Her kikentaichi is good.

Yo akai red senshi, you should kiai more, it might have nullify the strike in that last men. I think it was a simultaneous men strike.

The cut lack spirit, but not bad, you are a decent player :D

  • Hey rjhunter3789,

wich is your grade??? In this vid, you don't see any mood for fight.... Were you afraid of hurting her?

  • that is pretty awesome that its ur only point and you both look really good

  • That was awesome.

  • Oh yeah, who's the bitch now? They'll rule the world, won't?

  • ahn... no.

  • Like my master always said... Decision, DECISION! *hits me on the head with the sword...*

  • The girl is better :D, she's got better kiai and more of an offensive stance, DONT go back , don't let people push you around , you're bigger so just stay where you are! try moving around a bit, like she's doing, try trovoking her into men and then smack her with a debana kote! :D

  • I'll tell you the problem. It's probably not your level of training or your striking technique that is at fault. It is the lack of will power and follow through and conviction in your strikes. Make EVERY strike as if you are trying to kill you oponent with the sword in your hand. Don't just half heartedly attack. And when you do strike, make sure your ki-ai is loud, strong and does not fade. Ganbarre!

  • nice kendo. how many years have u trained?

  • I can't really see you through all the people walking in front of camera -.-

  • yeah...kendo is one of those sports where girls can take on boys much bigger than them and suffer no huge disadvantage.

I often get my ass kicked by 14-year-olds half my size.. ;)

As a wise green puppet once said, "Size matters not."

  • you have that right, thanks!

  • Kendo girls are scary

  • you should attack more... though, but i dont know which one is u... sorry.

  • You both need vast training. U_u Nah Im just kidding lol your both pretty good

  • if never seen anyone have a match before that i can remember . we used to have an intern who did kendo stay at our house but i was three

  • every day i check this video!

    you need more Explosion!

    do a fast MEN!

  • thank you. I will continue my training

  • No shame in it. Keep training and enjoying kendo! Ganbare!

  • Thank you for your critique. It was very inspiring. I hope that with more training I will be able to correct some of these poor habits.

  • @rjhunter3789 seriously dude????? holy crap! I could see her fighting spirit explode at the right momments, and at the counter BAM! your would explode as well , very evenly matched.

  • Ur strikes r too slow and also ur men is too obvious.

    wow

  • yea, I am pretty new, with less than 1 year training and 1 day a week. also, this is only my 2nd taikai. thanks for your critque, I appreciate your comments

  • I didn't find "ur strikes" obvious. What I did notice is your stance. I saw your back wasn't straight during sonkyo, nor during the match. Maybe you could be little more firm in your zanshin. Eg:around 1min 55, you do a nuki men, but the kiai came after the strike and there was no zanshin, judging from your posture, you could probably establish a good fumi komi and a decent kiai.

These are just observations from a go kyu working towards yon kyu.

    Good luck!

  • @rjhunter3789 you handled that very well. Nice. Good on you.

  • is that n. grimes? she beat me too at the UW taikai
