It's a good speaker and it looks very nice. One problem I found with it is that it doesn't have a good bass. Even the Klipsch iGroove and the Bose sound dock have a much fuller sound than the Zeppelin. Good review.

overall quality is not bad (although if compared to the Audioengine 5 costing half the price, it's still nothing) the zappelins bass is OVERLY boomy! plus, the small bass ports cant stand up the cabinet pressure and make port noise even at low/medium volume.

Geneva makes some nice docks, but the Aktimate Mini is the best iPod Dock I've ever heard. Anyone, shoot me if you find a better one than the Aktimate at that price.

@h4x0y The Audioengine and the Kanto iPod speakers both best the Zeppelin , with ease. Cost around $300, however the Zeppelin is fine as an all in one solution.

I've been checking out reviews on Bose SoundDocks and it's amazing to see sooooooo many Brits posting their put-downs of Bose while trying to make a big deal out of their British-made Zeppelin. What dorks.

Your an idiot. Brits only make a big deal if a product really is a big deal. People that buy Bose don't really care about aesthetics or looks, just sound - and quite frankly its probably because they're ugly themselves.

The zeppelin's sound is better than any bose ipod dock (thats a fact) but believe me it's impossible to walk into a room and not notice a zeppelin first.

This video does not capture the aesthetics of the Zeppelin - it looks so so so much better in real life.

The 'big deal' about the zeppelin is that it is the best looking ipod dock, and perhaps the first real attempt at making a sculptural ipod dock compared to all the Chinese (inc. bose) tasteless junk thats out there.

I was probably a bit too hard on it with my comments from 3 weeks ago, sorry. But one thing that was disappointing when I went to see one in person was the fact that on the back that whole silver metal thing is chrome plastic!

Also, I don't see myself getting either of these anytime soon, as I doubt either of them is worth the asking price.

You get what you pay for...I am delighted with the zeppelin and is sounds awesome...crystal clear sounds and no loss when you crank up to full volume..I upgraded from kef picoforde and the zeppelin beats by a mile...maybe expensive but hey..worth every penny...i would defo recommend

get the zeppelin the sound is a lot speaker and the speakers are higher quality. You get what you pay for. I don't think these speakers will distort even at high volumes. I've heard 700 series which is a $5000+ hi-fi set and those sound terrific. Zeppelin uses a speaker from one of the series and they should sound terrific

"poor media format" , mp3 is lossy, means information from the original cd is lost with compression. Apple Lossles, is losless, in compressed but if you uncompress the file it;s the same as the original, like .rar.

If you rip your cd in itunes there is an option in the preferences for ripping to apple lossless..

apple lossless is all good, like flac. but the ipods are renowned for having poor sound quality regardless because of the audio engines algorithms and the fact it doesnt even have a pre-amp for the headphone socket...yikes.

Try the Harman Kardon Go+Play and that'll be the best iPod dock you've tried seriously this sounds like a tin can compared to my iPod dock, it's $349 but they sell it refurbished for $188 so you should get it :) 40hz bass its like really deep bass lol the zepplin is like 2nd place i guess

Try it. Rip a CD at lossless quality, and then downconvert it to various bitrates of MP3. At 128, the difference is instantly obvious, at 192 and 256, the difference is there, but subtle, and for 320+, the sound is basically indistinguishable from the original. Do the test blind - you will introduce expectation bias if you know which is which while you are listening.

Doesn't stop me from keeping all my music in WMA lossless though.
