Ok, this is possibly the best clip of this song being performed on youtube. Sondheim never really wrote his stuff for singers...but actors. Melissa's characterization is pretty much flawless. Fantastic. That her performance reads like this despite being taped off a tv screen is a testament to a very real talent. Congrats Ms. Hostetter.
That's a huge poofy dress! I love it! I even think it kinda looks cooler than the ones at Disney parks! I like her limp also lol. But that dress! It's great!

Too theatrical, not enough musically. It is a musical. The theatrical IS important, no doubt, but to much motion is too distracting. Don't make unnessecary gestures.

i really dont like that the Disney Cinderella's dress is used. The Cinderella in Into the Woods is entirely different Cinderella then the one portreyed in the Disney version.
so what do you have to say about the similarities between the snow white/sleeping beauty costumes in the original broadway show and the original disney styles?
i think its very interesting to see the well-known image of cinderella making bold, honest decisions that are so very different from the ones offered in the animated film. its an interesting contrast.
@BSballoon I think the reason it is OK to use familiar costumes for Snow White and Sleeping Beauty is because you only see them for about 2 minutes, and you need to recognize them instantly, whearas Cinderella is a main character, and can therefore be more true to the original fairy tale, and not the Disney version.
