@meghanlizadominique: That only applies to the live-action films and other later adaptations. In the original comics, the 60's sitcom, and now in the 2010 Broadway musical (to appease the restricting parents of her boyfriend for that production), Wednesday is the nice sibling with a perchant for girly things, hence Gomez's comment about having better luck with Pugsley in upkeeping the Addams' family image.

I had The Addams Family lunch box in elementary school (the cartoon version) c. 1973. I loved that metal lunchbox. Sadly, it was lost for years--but then...it turned up when my aunt cleaned out her basement a couple of years ago! WOW! I was so happy to be reunited with it, and I remembered each panel as well as if I had seen it the day before! The funny thing is, I don't think I ever saw the cartoon until now--our little B&W TV didn't work most of the time and got very bad reception.

@2hott5: Umm...you must be mistaken. The original was sweeter and quirker. Read Addams' comics (The New Yorker) and watch the 60's sitcom, followed by the 70's cartoon. Then compare them to the far darker versions from the 1991/1992 films, the spin-off cartoon, and the 1998 sitcom remake.

I just read his bio by Linda Davis titled "Chas Addams, a Cartoonist's Life" (library). He seemed like a nice man w/odd sense of humor. His story was sad in 1 respect: His 2nd wife had him sign over all his A.F. cartoons to him & 2 beach houses; after his death she forged his name and she got an unheard of 75% of his cut of the profits -- Charles Addams's estate got a paltry 25% of his share of the profits!
