I will recomend you something for the fast part of the solo (by the way, GREAT WAH!):

Put you little and ring finger on the guitar, and only play with the fingers you got the pick on (thumb and index finger),this way you will gain stability with your hand.They actually say its bad that you take the habit of putting those fingers on the guitar,but thats not true.For certain songs, yes, it is true, you have to take out the fingers for mobility,but not in this case.Even Slash plays it with them on.

All GNR songs use the les paul, as for Iron maiden and Metallica the SG would be better. Epiphones are pretty low quality guitars though, I don't suggest buying any of them. If you have a low budget, Schecter has by far the best budget guitars of any maker I've played. The Diamond Series C1 Classic sounds a lot like a les paul because it's solid mahogany, but it sounds more metal-oriented. It comes with duncan JB's, which are fantastic. If it sounds too mellow you can take off the pickup covers.
