  • The idiot forgot to finish the cantation...

  • would've been great if he rolled up his eyes

  • am i the only one that sees that dance at the end lol?

  • AWESOME))))))))))))

  • Wow CGI for the win!

  • Woah almost everything was friggin' CGI ! Amazing....

  • its really hard to do this kind of stuff, but even as a beginner its a heap of fun.

  • How long does it take to make a 1 minute animation?

  • It depends on the complexity of the project and how many people there is working on it. By yourself it could take a few weeks or a few months depending on what it is.

  • Is that so? I definitely need to learn this art!

  • it ain't that easy for unproffesional people

  • Indeed. Take Pixar, their movies have an average production time of about 5 years. And there are a lot of people involved during this period of time. It also comes down to the size of your render farm, that can help out a lot on large scale projects

  • Zooms, dollie moves, quick editing, lighting changes, properly timed sound effects.

  • editing and cinematography lach suspense. Shots are nice, but I don't feel any tension when I should be.

  • Yeah.. its what zooms and different camera movements are for :O

  • realy amazing

  • Great animation aswell ;P forgot to add that in b4 pressed post :) 5/5

  • Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn.

  • Does anyone know who's the author of the music track after the main video?

  • At 5:16 what are all those programs that are listed. Just curious.

  • Maya,(IDK),(IDK),(IDK),Adobe After Effects,Photoshop,Pro-photo,(IDK)

  • Autodesk Maya 8.5, Softimage XSI, Autodesk 3DS Max, ZBrush, Don't Know, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier Pro, Dunno, Dont know

  • before AE, is NUKE - compositing programm ;)

    , then - final cut pro 6, and last, i don't know

    ))

  • a litle scary, but the dancing demon was realy funnye:D

  • lool at the last bit, the entire peace was awesome well done

  • can you do just like transformers?hehehe

  • oh :o

  • Just think that something like this could be used to make something that didn't happen look like it did. (minus monters) Everyone would be fooled unless they were there. Cool job by the way.

  • @vbirdieb that was hard to think about!!!

  • OMG!! SO F*n complicated!!

I never thought a lot of things inside the room were just images!!

  • Hahaa the dancing guy at the end amused me. :]

  • Scary 0_0

  • wow verry nice done

  • HEy VFS..i likke your film .can you tell me what softwares u use in special effects????

IN your school does it have some scholarships your in too... reply me at nitecloack@yahoo

thnx guys nice special effect ...its surprising that the furnitures are just images on computer...eheheh

  • Whoa, this looked waaaay more complicated than I thought.

  • impressive. great job

  • Wow, impressive. I thought it was SOO real.

  • i m aware this is just a scool-exercice in technics and in these courses is no time for developing storys , but i am althoug surprised how boring and obvious the ideas of people in this business can be. it corresbonds with all the crapp i dont want to see anymore.

in these cases, i wish the technic will not influence filmmaking, even if it could be an fruitful cooperation sometimes.

  • You've clearly not done work of your own.

  • Very impressive, excellent work

  • nice...why is it called the summoning?..

  • Because the man summoned the creature

  • Very impressive. Great movement in the "vine" creature.

  • lol, the dance at the end!

  • i feel very ignorant. i didn't know that it takes so much just to make a couple of seconds of nice film. congratulations!

  • That was cool!

  • stuuuuupid....

  • Wow, this is amazing. The only thing that seemed a bit off, was the frame-rate of the 3D animation was a bit faster than the actual footage, so it made it look somewhat off. Otherwise, this is really GREAT compositing. It's Amazing in that first shot with all the post-production elements.

  • they are after all students!

  • no, they where all 24p

  • wow...just wow...

  • Tell me you've never played Thief: The Dark Project!

Quite astounding work. Hope you got a good grade.

  • I love the little dancing man at the end! <3

  • ....*speechless*....

I am hoping to specialize in 3d someday ^^....(am taking up multi-media arts). I think I'll favorite this to remind me to study ^^. Thanks for sharin!!

  • amzaign effects

  • That was amazing guys.. I enjoyed very much... the only thing I have to say, and I beg your pardon for this, is that you have some photography mistakes at the very beguining... I also study film.... just remember that a light source cannot have its own shadow... keep up the good work and congratulatons from one smoke user to others

  • i just watched this video and i have to say i think it is incredable, great job buddy, keep up the good work.

  • Nice, too bad he died. Always learn how to undo a spell before you actually cast it.

  • I don't realy "love" computer effects on movies, but i must confess, you have done an exelent job!

I see that computer is the newest tool for art development.

    Congratulations!

    See you!

  • you fucking piece of shit go fuck off and die somewhere

  • ur damn good at what u do

  • Awesome breakdown! I love to see the magic behind the movies!

  • c interessant =p

  • smetch, you need to chill the fuck out. why do you care about bashing canada so much? you are an embarrassment to our country. it's people like you that make the rest of the world hate us.

    awesome video. canada rocks!

and americans dont cry for mommy if we run out of burgers. we drive to one of our many wonderful restaurants or drive throughs and purchase a delicious burger. but we do have damn good burgers here. mmm..

  • Nice job...the sfx are cool! and to Smetch...jealous much!

  • whats up with all the canadian hate?

  • Smetch, you must really be starved for attention. It's Americans like you that make people world wide know that something's being put in your water . Quick - think of something rude and "retarded" to say now. We're all standing by to see how smart you are.

  • youre an idiot

    'nuff said

  • fuck u u peice of shit

  • search: "monkey island pianoforte"

  • ha im replying to you and im not canadian :P

  • Arguing over the internet is like running in the special olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded.

    'nuff said.

  • please die in a fire you dirty american scum bag

  • Cool (^_^)

  • your an ignorant little crapper arn'cha

  • HAHA bro...Canadians speak French and English, you can tell only "MOMMMYYY,I'M OUT OF BURGERS,BRING ME NEW OR I WILL CRY"...see you kido

  • soo cool nice

  • breakdown is cool

  • should give him a credit after all the hardwork..lol

  • The acting left something to be desired. But the SFX were great.

  • BLAH! :P

  • what a strong, convincing, and well thought-out assertion

  • Coming from who? Probably some incapable, lazy moron who's ambition and capabilities couldn't be differentiated from a piece of dog turd. Take your head outta your ass and show us how much better you are than Canadians.

  • And what the hell do you think is wrong with Canadians? What is wrong with you? Be respectful to other countries and cultures. Or are you just a sixth grade bully who needs to put down others to feel better about themselves. Get. A. Life.

  • wow............thats amazing...........great job

  • This is really impressive to see of film students. Excellent work.

  • wow dat was really good im amazed nice job

  • that's so sick

  • Wow. Way to be a dick. So you can do this stuff at home. So what? If one were to work for a film company or something of the sort, would an employer rather see, "I taught myself everything." or, "Attended, Vancouver Film School for many years."

  • That's where your wrong. I wouldn't even work for a film company who judges your own creation by it's marketing gain.(That would mean how much money a product would make) That would not make a great movie. Only another shit movie , or a Remake. Plus, If you taught yourself everything you can be self sefficient, and you won't have to rely on others. Look up a filmmaker named Robert Rodriguez. This will show you how much you know.

  • Well great for you if you can be a independent film maker. But man, with an attitude like that won't get you far.

  • wow nice

  • great job..

  • sweet

  • good job

  • cool shit

  • all that work for one minute and 30 seconds, nice great job people :]

  • tht was pretty good not gonna lie

  • cool!

  • this sum scary shizznit

  • There are many purposes for creating 3d objects and compositing them into live action footage. Static, overturned furniture that could've easily been put in the scene in the first place is not one of them.

PS: Do 24p next time, 30p just looks too much like video camera.

  • They may have included 3D furniture for portfolio reasons, just to further demonstrate their ability. It could have also been a requirement of the project assignment.

  • that guy was stupid, just to start saying the incantation without drawing the protection symbols for binding and protection

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • check out "max kd drive"

  • eh best part was monster dancing

  • how do you put video responses?

  • ESPECTACULAR

  • that was awesome a small video would be nice to watch i would love to do something like that someday

  • that was fu**** awesome. I wish i could create like that someday.

  • =] that was super good! The actor seemed genuinely scared as the life was getting drained from him. Oh, and I liked how you made his face after he died.
