  • Should the bowl with the sample that is titrated be completely pink. I find that it tends to be a peach color because of the yellow oil. 

    Therefore, should it be at that point where the yellow-white mixture turns into peach, or should it be completely pink?

  • Actually, the main thing is that it changes color most of the way through, and holds it for at least 15 seconds. The actual color can vary a lot from pink to peach, lavender, red etc. As long as it changes and holds, it's done. Sometimes it will appear that a small amount has not changed, just keep swirling and if it holds it's done.

  • It is hard to tell which bowl is which with only 2 on the screen.

  • The bowl on the left is the Titration container. The one on the right just holds the reference solution of Lye/water or KOH/water.
