  • i don't know if anyone's told you, but the advice i got is to never put the choke on more than enough to just raise the bike's rpm a little bit, so it only stays running. then keep it like that once you start riding for a minute or two when the temp rises a little bit, then push it in. otherwise, extra gas in the cylinder when idling can wash the oil off the cylinder wall and cause scoring.

  • I don't know if you order from the USA, but a company called Midwest Motorcycle Supply sells those pipes. Look them up. Their site has an online catalog with your pipes. I believe the number for the heat shields is on page 10/4 under the Sportster 1986 & Later section. The part number is 60-313 if those are your pipes on that page. Don't take my word for it, though, look at their site. Hope this helps.
