  • I always liked Garber's "Hindustan" (along with the flip side, "In The Middle Of A Dance."

  • If I had my own orchestra, I would have an entire cowbell section and we would begin each concert with the song the Dukes of Hazard's car horn plays. And we would always have the trombones walking around on stage.

  • Always enjoyed Garber though my favourite were the Lombardo recordings with Carmen. garber was very easy to listen to, with wonderful arrangements and more than competent musicians. Something about that ol' Lombardo class though. If you know "September In The Rain" from 1937 you'll know what I mean.

But I'd take either collection of their music to a desert isle and be very happy.

    -Thanks for this

  • Good grief. No wonder Lombardo is said to have despised Garber!

  • @hflegg actually, he liked Jan Garber... he HATED Sammy Kaye and made no bones about it in his autobiography. He and Lawrence Welk were on a flight together and it was rather turbulent, and he turned to Lawrence and said " I hope this crate doesn't crash... if it does, that GD Sammy Kaye will have the top band in America".

  • this is a great remeberace of music!!! I love the garber family

  • A friend of mine used to edit the Garber Gabling newsletter. He had all of the Garber music.

  • what a treat to see this!!! thank you!!
