There was an agricultural catastrophe (over irrigation caused ground salts to rise to the surface making it impossible to grow food) and the peoples building it stopped and moved away from the land in favor of greener pastures. "Confusing the speech" was the peoples moving to new lands nothing more.

It is an appropriate story, people too often view themselves as a type of god, we get multiple languages; the languages divided and we don't get to build our way into heaven.

The "tower of babel" story is actually true but not in the way the bible tells. Its the story of the Ziggurat of Anu (Sumerian god of the heavens- "the tower that reaches the heavens"). There was an agricultural catastrophe (over irrigation caused ground salts to rise to the surface making it impossible to grow food) and the peoples building it stopped and moved away from the land in favor of greener pastures. "Confusing the speech" was the peoples moving to new lands nothing more.

It asks us to believe in a ghost, an invisible old man that loves us while simultaniously lighting us on fire, and a cosmic jewish zombie with a vore fetish demanding to be worshiped while we're being punished because two people ate a piece of fruit that God put within their reach.

What is the moral of the Tower of Babel story? That God's against human endeavour, peaceful co-operation, global understanding and human ambition and ingenuity?
That God's plan isn't perfect? That God's not omniscient? If he/it was then he would not had to go down to Earth and deal with the humans. They would've been created with different languages in the first place! In this case, the Bible is the biggest argument against God!
