Define "selling out". :) There was a time when metal or rockbands weren't supposed to even be making music videos. (Think about the controverse after Metallica's One video.) The Chariot, and many other bands make music videos as well. In my opinion that's selling out as well. What do you think all those bands purpose is? Making money doing something they love. So yes, in my opinion, many other bands are sellouts as well.

Non-sellout bands are very very rare.

The only thing that's different is the way they put themselves out there, the way other people perceive them, their "image". Some people dissaprove of a certain image of a band, which is incorrectly labeled "selling out". And (dis)liking a certain image, once again, is personal. Which ends that discussion as well. :)

That's all just relative to what their previous genre was. ADTR's first cd was rough, unpolished and heavy, while they have more diversity in their music right now; punk, metal, ballads, etc. But that an sich doesn't mean they are selling out. If Justin Bieder would start making songs like the new ADTR's or new Architects cd's, he would be killed and accused of being a satanist. So it's just relative.

Like I said; (dis)liking such a (new) genre is subjective. :)

I never said this particular album was diverse. I said their music as a whole was more diverse, which is pretty obvious.

The Architects album was, to me, one of the better albums of this year. (granted there wasn't much competition) Just because they didn't stick to the same old thing all the time.

For example; I used to love Iron Maiden, but they got really really really boring over time, just by repeating the same old thing. ADTR and Architects e.g. didn't. It's just taste.
