Right security has no more authority than an ordinary citizen but however they are paid to protect company assets. YES they can make arrests citizens arrests that is. And they can use force no affect the arrest. Error on the side of caution and don't jack with them. Its not worth a trip to jail. WHO are the cops gonna believe a trouble maker or a security guard. "THINK IT OVER".
Brush up on your rights as an American Citizen. California isn't the best place to be a cowboy, I agree. Everyone sues everyone for everything.
But if you're trying to run a profitable business while enslaved to a fear of lawsuits, then you will be no different than the other 99.9% of security contractors in the market. Some 'risk' is necessary for substantial gain, and there is a huge market for proactive security these days.
I suppose you'd have to ask the people who were there... A citizen is ABSOLUTELY able to initiate a 'pursuit', or 'capture' of someone that he reasonably suspects has just committed a felony. If you found a guy in your backyard, prying a door to your house, are you telling me that you, as a citizen have no legal right to pursue and capture that individual if he ran from you? You have every legal right to do just that.
- It appears as though there was an attempted assault on the guard (looked like he swung), which gives them every right to effect an arrest
- They were responding to a burglary call, which is a felony. A felony doesn't have to be committed in their presence in order for the guard to effect a citizen's arrest. Looks like the guy matched the description of the call - that's enough reasonable suspicion...Looks perfectly legal to me.
This is not true. The "assault" you are speaking of was on the heels of the security officer initiating a pursuit against the suspect. Security has no right to initiate a pursuit against anyone beyond that of a witnessed felony (which is the same for an ordinary citizen). The security officer ran towards the suspect and crouched into a tackling approach against the suspect. The suspect can easily be viewed as defending himself. Security has no right to pursue "suspects." Whackers.
Yeah, see, security guards don't actually have police powers. So unless they witnessed that guy commit a felony or this was staged (more likely), he's probably got a false imprisonment suit on his hands.
the production quality, and the emphasis on how the barcode application impacts their job, as opposed to focusing just on the product, makes this one of the better business videos i've seen.
i like the video. The production quality, music, cut scenes, etc keep me interested. But I still clicked the bar at the bottom a couple of times to skip ahead. This is just too long for my short attention span!
oh WOW this is so fake!!!!!
