Gerbils like to dig, and there is almost nothing to dig in there. Also, there is a hamster wheel in it, which can be dangerous to gerbils. Additionally, it is big enough for 2, maybe 3 gerbils.
I understand your concern. I know there are many gerbils in the cage shown. Now the gerbils are separated by gender in to three separate cages. We have gotten rid of three, so now we have six. There are 2 in each cage. So now they have plenty of room.
Hamster wheels are not dangerous to gerbils as long as they do not have bars on them. The hamster wheel shown it solid plastic, therefor the gerbils cannot rip their tails off in the wheel.
