I hope something like this becomes a commonly available advent in the future, maybe even a commercial product! Think of how amazing this would be, you could in theory train your own cognition; perhaps you could even become self-aware of your own cognitive processes! Oh it would answer so many questions!
This video simply amazes me! Is the individual who is receiving the fMRI actually able to witness the results on the screen? This is amazing! Even to simply witness the results of your own fMRI would be an amazing experience! Where is it possible to do this?
Yesterday night we tried the pole balancing experiment but with imagined movements of the right and left hand. Quite astonishing, there was almost no difference between using imagined and actual movements of the hands. The subject in the scanner could balance an even faster pendulum than the one in the movie for several minutes.
We also let the subject (which was me) watch his own activity and play around with it. The feeling of looking into your own brain was quite amazing!
i have an uncle who has a practice for childrens behaviour that has an eeg feedback system similar to this. it was just a "positive" and "negative" motion where the "positive responce" was a certain activity in a designated area and "negative reactions" were activities in other specific areas. the feedback system was a dot that would move through a maze, only with one route. it basicly trained you to recognize behaviors and act with new discretion.
