I joined the TA because my uni did not have an OTC on campus. Its definatly worth doing if you want to make a career out of it after uni/college as it gives you a taster without massive commitment. Its also a lot of fun and a bit of cash on the side too!
dont worry, the susat was off the rifle (we were cleaning them at the time). They still have Phase 1 (in house training) and Phase 2 (specific to your part of the army) for us at least. My phase 2 was up at Catterick.

Dont worry about it...Its only an RSW. It will get progessivly harder as your futness goes up with the training. Just do your best. If you are in doubt this weekend look out for someone called Austin, a recruit from Conrwall...he seems like a good guy to have around.
Mate, Having served with both TA and Regs I have no problem with the TAs, I ave seen them do stuff that Reg's couldn't in f*cking harsh conditions. Look at my vid of Ex.Medman (BATUS) with 2RWelsh (and RTR) in Canada with the help of TA and even OTC where they outdone themselves!
fukin STAB'S! its ok if youve been a full time soldier first but if your gonna join up as a TA soldier don't act like your the dog's bollocks coz it makes you look even more wank especially infantry!
i want to join the british army and be a combat engineer, but having my doubts about it, wid the "bullying" n all, but gonna give it a go either way ^^

was just wondering, how strict are they at RSWs on situps & pressups?
cause it turns out its this weekend not next :o
thats a week less training and preparing than i had anticipated.
i can just about do 28 pressups will that fail me if you know?
if i had that extra week i wouldve easily been able to get it up to 30+
so im a bit worried now. LOL

not bad i was in the 73 engineers 575 field squadron..im sure the ta go by TAFFS and not phases
and i hope u nsp'ed that rifle before you pointed it lol... i recently left the ta and joined the sherwood forester full time now
