  • Quincy has put on weight.

  • here's my God.

  • yes, I dont understand Italian, but I understand the music composed by this Italian.

give chinese audiences' best wishes to you, Ennio.

  • Grande Ennio, patromonio nazionale.

Ma come fa Clint a non commuoversi?

Si vede che è un vero duro!

  • The good, bad and ugly music was truly an epic masterpiece... a man that truly deserves his award as much as obama didn't deserve his noble piece prize...

  • @PlanetUbla Fox news idiots are everywhere.

  • @PlanetUbla You morons would post anything anywhere to show your idiocy.

  • @PlanetUbla ahhh so true!

  • chapeau, maestro Ennio

  • The reason why Morricone didn't win for his nominated "Bugsy" was because he cannibalised a track from his "Ogro" score for it thereby breaking the Academy's rule of "Best *ORIGINAL* Score". His nomination was withdrawn. Morricone, in disgust (with himself?) said he'd never work in Hollywood again. He did of course....and this was the best they could come up with. Shame.

  • Ennio as italian..you are our pride in the world!!

  • w l'italia, w morricone

  • Ennio is the king!

  • Thank you for sharing your genius Ennio Morricone.

  • Ennio Morricone the greatest ever

  • Is she Scarlett Johansson at 1:51 ? <3 _ <3

  • @NH7Nico No, that's Gwyneth Paltrow

  • @NH7Nico It's Gwyneth Paltrow

  • he should have gotten an oscar along time ago. It's a shame that too tutti (many) great actors and musicians recieve oscars toward the end of their lives.

  • in this moment I'm proud to be Italian...and in this period this is a rare feeling for an Italian...

  • Ken Watanabe's face at 3:00 is like: "what the heck is he talkin' about?"

  • @trashEntertainments

I think Ken is actually going, "I feel you, man. Love your music."

  • Immenso, non trovo altri aggettivi....

  • UNA LEGGENDA ASSOLUTA

TROVASSE LE SFERE DEL DRAGO E CHIEDESSE L'IMMORTALITA' !

    ASSOLUTAMENTE !!!

  • Clint's translation was actually not bad- wonder if it was all planned before hand and on a prompter, or if he speaks Italian that well? ;)

  • @DarkeningSkies1

Eastwood speaks Italian. When he originally arrived in Italy prior to making the Spaghetti westerns, he did not speak Italian (nor did Sergeo Leone speak English). Now Eastwood speaks Italian, and Leone speaks English :)

  • Genio Morricone

  • Fantastico!!!

  • these two are amazing. best actor and best composer on one stage.

  • Ennio will always be my favorite composer. He is not one of the greatest. He is THE greatest film music composer of all time.

  • @elitestar A stupid comment, actually. There are many great composers who deserve this accolade: Alex North, Hugo Friedhofer, Bernard Herrmann, Jerry Goldsmith.

  • Listening to Marcia Degli Accattoni at the moment. Quality

  • Ennio Morricone is a genius. He deserves this Oscar thousand times.

  • the GREATEST doesnt need this thing called "oscar"'

  • the GREATEST even was touched by this "oscar" thing ..he doesnt need that ..

  • Please d not compare Ennio Morricone to God.

He's a nice guy but he' s not Morricone.

  • Jerry Goldsmith, Elmer Bernstein, Bernard Herrmann, James Horner, Hans Zimmer, and Victor Young who?

We are talking about ENNIO MORRICONE right here.

  • @caravaggio31 What??? How can you compare Morricone to Herrmann, Bernstein, Goldsmith. They are all equals. But, companring Morricone to the likes of Horner and Zimmer is to insult Morricone.

  • Ennio Morricone is what John Williams would like to be and Americans think he is.

  • @caravaggio31

Sorry, that is exaggerated, both are great composers, Williams is in no way inferior in talent i think, plus the movie music they wright is very different.

  • 1:25 Ken Watanabe is going WTF?!

  • A well deserved honour which he should have received years ago for his great music

  • commovente...molto commovente...grande Morricone!

  • He should have definately won in 1966 for The Good, The Bad and the Ugly and he wasn't even nominated for it. What was the Academy even thinking? It's probably the greatest motion picture score ever written. If it was released this year it could have easily won an Oscar.

  • It almost make me cry these two greatest artists......Ennio is one of the greatest musicians ever.

  • 1:24.... ken watanabee is thinking:" what the hell is he saying"?..... Grande Ennio!

  • so, so, so well deserved

  • orgoglio Italiano. Grazie Ennio.

  • Who wrote the most famous musical motif of all time? Was it Beethoven with 'da da da daaaaaaaaaaaa', or Morricone with 'yah ah ah ah ahhhhhh, waa waa waaaa' ??? Interesting! The only thing more well known is probably 'Happy Birthday to you'.

  • Grande Ennio! Grazie Maestro!

  • GRANDE ENNIO! GENIO INDISCUSSO ED UNA DELLE POCHE BANDIERE ITALIANE DI CUI ANDARE VERAMENTE FIERI!!! GRAZIE MAESTRO!

  • Such fun watching all those inarticulate, illiterate, language-less American monkeys listening with confused expressions to the Maestro's Italian speech. He wrote sublime music for The Mission and Cinema Paradiso...and was not awarded Oscars for them. Shameful.

  • @philipc67 Come on man, an lot of Americans (especially in Hollywood) speak Italian very well. He is speaking to an audience full of some of the world's most successful film makers who are all educated, intelligent enough people. I only speak a little Italian but I understood most of it. And let's be honest, most oscar acceptance speeches are essentially the same anyway: 'I'd like to thank The Academy blah blah blah'!!

  • @philipc67 How correct you are. But, what do you expect of a country where the English language is massacred every second of every day. Dumb and dumber is what the ignorant Yanks are.

  • Ennio Morricone= genio.

  • @educadorist

"Rabbia e Tarantella" for Bastardos and "L'Arena" for Kill bill ;-)

  • il Maestro Ennio Morricone...

  • nice interpreter clint

  • He didnt speak english....because he spoke music

  • @IlPadoquino That's Italian.

  • @IlPadoquino I would make a better attempt at English, mate. Your syntax leaves a lot to be desired.

  • Ennio = Genius.

  • Ennio Morricone is to Soundtrack Music what Mozart, Beethoven, Duke Ellington and The Beatles are in their respective genres : the Best of the Best.

  • Sei no spettacolo Ennio...

  • He deserved a "Best Soundtrack" Oscar in many occasione...

  • only one oscar...

  • No one deserved an oscar more than Ennio. Period!

  • @MickeyBlueEyes34 charlie chaplin...

  • Look at the list of scores that did not win the Oscar. THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, PATTON, SUPERMAN, STAR TREK THE MOTION PICTURE, PSYCHO - the list could go on.

  • @duckwrangler not to mention the first godfather

  • @duckwrangler To which you might add "The Magnificent Seven", "Spartacus" and "The Big Country."

  • wich song is the one the play when he is called for the oscar?

  • The Oscars DON'T MEAN anything. Morricone has the admiration of John Barry, Williams, EVERYBODY. Pitty he takes it so importantly.

Es un maestro, so humble as well.

  • 1:24 - "Uh, is that, like, uh, Spanish he's speaking?"

    Idiots.

  • Like his theme to Once Upon A Time In America, The Untouchables, The Mission....Vangelis is pretty cool too.

  • Ennio is the master of music

  • The question is: why Italy has so many great masters of film music? Morricone is propably the greatest of all.

  • @tranmere789 No, no, no, no, NO! You forget the likes of Nino Rota and Angelo Francesco Lavagnino.

500 films y 1 miserable oscar honorario... ¡por favor!!!

  • Italians most humble and genious people

    Grazie Maestro

  • did Clint Eastwood ever meet Morricone back in the spagetti western days?

  • @nath909 ... good question, but I imagine that they'd met before. Morricone also compoased the score for the American Western "Two Mules for Sister Sara" (1970), produced by Eastwood's Malpaso Company (Eastwood, of course, starred in the film).

  • Ennio is the master of music.

  • Damn, my first language being Spanish and having taken Latin in school for four years just payed off. I just realized I understand Italian almost perfectly. Rome, here I come!

  • Who is that black guy on the left of Morricone's wife? He is so familiar...

  • @bbenjoe this guy is the Great Quincy Jones

Merecidisimo Oscar !!!

  • The Italians are the cutest at receiving the oscars!

  • He's so humble and he's such a good composer!

    Italy loves you Ennio ♥

  • @iLoveUDepecheMode And the whole world, too!!! :D

  • Maestro immenso di musica e stile.

    Grandissimo Ennio!

  • ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ ENNIO, PRIDE OF THE WHOLE WORLD !!!!!!!

    YOUR MUSIC IS UNIVERSAL

I´M SO HAPPY, I GOT A TICKET FOR HIS NEXT CONCERT HERE IN CHILE

  • enni moricone did the score the for fistful of dollars trilogy and clint Eastwood was in those movies i wonder if the worked together

  • im sorry but in my humble opinion he's the greatest score composer ever and he deserves at least ten of these, he even deserved oscar nominations for the relatively unknown spaghetti westerns he did

  • 1:57 can that bitch look any more uninterested?

  • MAESTRO LEI IL MOZART DEI NOSTRI GIORNI!!!

MAETRO SIAMO ONORATI LE AVREBBE DOVUTO VINCERNE TANTI ALTRI...

    ORGOGLIO D'ITALIA...

  • haha clint can speak italian cool xD

  • He most definitely deserves recognition, and his speech is great, heartfelt... His contribution to film is genius without a doubt one of the best if not THE best there is.

  • He should have won an Oscar for The Mission! This was long deserved! A great man.

  • Eastwood and Morricone together, how awesome is that?

  • Eastwood and Morricone together, how awesome is that?

  • l' accademia dovrebbe ringraziare lei, maestro.

  • an Oscar per each note.

  • Right after this....for the second year running, Gustavo Santaolalla won a remarkably undeserved award for Best "Score".

Jerry Goldsmith, Elmer Bernstein, Bernard Herrmann, James Horner, Hans Zimmer, and Victor Young won that award just ONCE. Ennio Morricone not only has only five nominations (for over 500 films), but the fact that he never won just demonstrates to the highest possible degree what a pathetic, fraudulent popularity contest the Academy Awards are.

  • @thistleinfotech The oscar is a jewish invention to prize mainly themselves (jews) since they run the movies and media. You could argue that they're good actors, but if you think about it, we've ben robbed of too many unknown real talents just for the fact they're not jews, (mathematical probability should assure you of this) anyway the man Ennio Morricone didn't need this filthy kike crap... [greetings from italy]

  • @thistleinfotech "remarkably underserved" recognition for Santaolalla??? You don't know what you're talking about. I agree that Ennio should have at least 4 Oscars at home; but Santaolalla is a genius, too.

  • @thistleinfotech Santaolalla won 2 Academy Awards, so I don't think the never undeserved one of them. He is a great composer.

  • @thistleinfotech The fact that you don´t like Gustavo and his music doesn´i mean he didn´t deserve the award

  • @thistleinfotech I couldn't agree more.

  • @thistleinfotech He has won two golden globes and FIVE Bafta awards

  • @thistleinfotech I totally agree. And the fact Stanley Kubrick never won an oscar is just another one reason to confirm what you said.

  • Ennio Morricone deserves a thousand Oscar rewards!

  • Ennio Morricone deserves a thousand Oscar rewards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love ennio w l'italiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

  • I love all the fake smiles from all the "stars" in the audience.

Remember the days exemplified by all the golden and silver age stars? I sure haven't forgotten.

  • some ones getting laid tonight

  • Clint Eastwood speaks Italian?

  • Pause at 0:25, there's Randy Newman!!!

  • Honorary Oscar = Sorry we didn't give you one sooner.

  • @Musicjoe11 Or sorry we were stupid never to have given you one.

  • While it is good that Morricone was finally recognised at the Oscars, it really doesn't matter much. The Oscars is a very shallow award ceremony, and its definition of what is 'the best' should definitely be taken with a huge grain of salt.

True artists exist and live far beyond the once-a-year farce that is the Oscars. Morricone's music is immortal and will still be remembered generations after the current, trendy Oscar films are forgotten. That means so much more than any reward ceremony.

  • Eastwood translates - classy.

  • So in the industry -is an honorary award, really an insult or prestigous?

  • @sinjyn66 i think that it is even more prestigious because you are being recognized for a lifetime's body of work. You transcend one performance or one film.

    You embody a cultural impact.

Many people win an Oscar but few impact a generation. Ennio has impacted so many scoreres and instrumentalists!

    He is a true legend.

Of course that's what I think. I don't know how insiders view it.

  • Perhaps the greatest composer of all time and yet he never really won an oscar.

The Hans Zimmers and clones in the music biz get them. REALLY?????????

    Such a disgrace.

However, an oscar of ANY type was long overdue for this remarkable Man.

  • @cchalfant The Hans Zimmer clones... sad but true...

  • @cchalfant Hey, Hans Zimmer is such a great composer too. Of course, not so brilliant like Ennio Morricone, but I really love his music. And let me tell you that Zimmer has received only one oscar in all his career, (for the Lion King score), and the soundtrack is amazing. But I'm agree with you, Ennio Morricone is maybe the greatest composer ever, and it's unfair he never won an oscar before, but please be considerate of other talented composers, like Zimmer

  • Greatest and most veratile composer for movie music ever. You can see that this was very emotional moment for him and that almost made me cry. You must have emotions to compose such beautiful and out of this world music. Morricone, you're the greatest and we know that.

  • morricone, a living legend.

  • ENNIO, TU SEI DIO!

GRANDISSIMO MAESTRO, GRAZIE MILLE PER TUTTO!

  • ENNIO, TU SEI DIO!

GRAAAAAAANDISSIMO MAESTRO, GRAZIE MILLE PER TUTTO!

  • Cant believe they fed him scraps like this. Makes me sick to my stomach to see the greatest EVER receive what was deserved long before most of us were even born!

    So many, so many...

  • everyone present at the Oscar must kiss Morricone's ass.....

he is the best and he deserve lots of real Oscan not a fucking Honorary

  • John Williams might have been nominated for a few dozen times, might have won 5 oscars, but he never composed "Il Triello". It is Morricone, who fully deserves to be called the best movie composer ever regardless of all these award hype.

  • Clint is such an elegant man..

  • With or without Oscar, with or without "academy" Morricone leaving the most prominent mark in cinema music, there's no other.

  • with or without Oscar, with or without the "Academy", Morricone leaving the most prominent mark in cinema music.

  • Too bad the damn Academy never were smart enough to award him for the many scores he did when he was nominated. An honorary Oscar is not the same. Shame on the Academy for such an oversight.

  • The greatest film composer ever, who wrote music of such enduring beauty and power that stirs the soul.

  • I cannot stop crying, watching this, everytime, really.

  • Ennio Morricone doesn't need an oscar..it's just a piece of metal.Ennio has won millions of hearts through the years...that what it matters. We all love ENNIO MORRICONE.

  • (cont.)

I believe this award is for me not at a point of arrival, but at a starting point to improve myself – to improve myself in service of cinema, and also, also in the service of my personal aesthetics on applied music.

I dedicate this Oscar also to my wife Maria, who loves me very much and who has been so close to me all these years. I love her in the same way. This award is also for her."

  • This is what he said:

""I want to thank the Academy for this honor they give me with this prize. I also want to thank all of those who strongly wanted this award to be given to me.

I also want to truly thank all of the directors who have called me, and trusted me, to write music for their movies. I really wouldn't be here if it weren't for them.

My thoughts also go to all the artists who deserve this award but haven't received it. I wish for them to receive it in a not distant future.

  • No thanks to Sergio Leone, that's weird.

  • Sei il piu' grande Ennio

  • Does Clint speak Italian? lol

  • how old was he when he composed the good the bad and the ugly soundtracks??

  • @skoca01 he was 38 back then

  • So Clint Eastwood really understands what he's saying, I thought at the beginning he was just kidding.

  • who is the actor at the minute 2:09??

  • Comment removed

  • @92ROS lol That's Steven Spielberg! He is not an actor, he is a director. How can you not recognize him?! :p

  • @oklahomatornadoes OH MY GOD!!! I didn't realize that he is Steven Spielberg, because of shot!!!......ok I'll kill myself safe!!!!!Thank you

  • Why not subtitles???

    Simultaneous translation ~ real time.

    SUBTITLES NEXT TIME OK!

  • "Ecstasy of gold" should have been played at the background.
