  • Kudos to someone DOING A COVER! Really. Doing it without background music is a win :) Well done! And indeed nice use of the capo, stuff the *BUT YA DON'T NEED AH CAPOH* comments. They're shot. Win.

  • I thought this sounded really good. Me and a friend of mine are perfoming this at a show soon and I was looking for an acoustic cover. You made it sound real nice :).

  • I don't think a capo is needed for this song. every other guitar cover and lesson doesn't call for a capo.

  • @EasyExpertVillage All the capo does is alter the key you're playing in. If you struggle to sing in a certain key without the capo then you can just use one to alter it to taste. I've never said you 'need' to play with a capo, it just made the song easier for me.

  • i loved it, covering a song isnt about copying a song part for part, its about making it your own in some unique way, good job

  • great job. the singing was great, dont say it was bad:)

  • its awsome dude im trying to learn it and this helps confidence :p

  • I love your singing voice. You're one of those few English people who don't sing in an American accent.

  • You made the song your own, good job.

  • @DieWalrossen I'v known the song for longer then 2 month dude okay calm down first time i heard it was about 12 years ago

  • your pitch is way too high dude listen to the studio recorded or just play Rock Band 3 and you'll see

  • @Knightowl102 Whenever I do a cover my intention is not to copy a song exactly. I regularly change the key of the song (by adding a capo or tuning down) as it helps with songs that are difficult to sing in the original key. Check my other videos, you'll see that I often don't follow original songs exact.

  • great

  • great cover but the tempo is sooo wrong

  • Very nice. And look at that, 9 people hit the Dislike button by mistake!

  • Don't know why every one is hasseling you bout that capo dude. Great performance!

Check out my version if you like!

  • Little tip there:

Keep moving your strumming-hand throughout the whole pattern....You seem to be struggling with timing the quarter note (first part of the pattern)....

    Good luck

  • that little hammer on thing your doing isnt working for the song.may be why your strumming seems a little halted man.i'd drop it and take the capo off to drop the key the way it's supposed to be played dude.nice though man.

  • Cheers for the comments.

The reason I probably used a capo (although it was a very long time ago) was because playing it open/dropping the capo was unsuitable for my singing voice. If I can, I normally keep a song in the original key but sometimes it just doesn't work for me :)

  • yeah dude you had like a leonard cohen thing going on kinda which is why i suggested you drop the capo but whatever works for you man.keep rockin' bro you sounded aces old chap!

  • Well thank you for the Cohen comparison (he's one of my favourite singer/songwriters) although I wouldn't use that comparison myself, I'm not even in his league :p

  • sure you are.you just have to believe you are...

  • very nice indeed

  • cm'on.. your voice is great.. i loved it ^__^

  • Great cover and for you to say you do not have a good voice is total BS. Your voice is perfect for this song, and you sound a LOT like David Gilmour....lead singer of Pink Floyd

  • Amazing man

  • outstanding job my friend

  • I think you have a pretty good voice , just not the right one for this song, I'd love to hear you try Sean Lennons dead meat. That would fit your voice.

  • his voice is perfect for this song; that's the way he sings - it's his style

  • i play guitar by tabs and learning alone

slo i dont know what e minor is and all the other stuff so dont try to explain to me because i wont undestand but still thatnks for trying to explain

  • Sounds very nice!

  • you should do for the intro F with the high E OPEN to E minor twice the go to the singing and C to Eminor sounds awesome.but anyway you did an excellent job.take the capo off and you might find it easier to sing

  • what?!!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • will i explain it to your feeble mind?hes(the guy in the vid)playing a C to a Eminor..but it should be an F to an E minor.plus he should take off the capo

  • Amazing!

Can I have the chords please??

    (I'm not english, sorry^^)

  • nice voice !

  • Dude, why the Capo?

  • I can't remember why exactly but it was either:

    1. I had it tuned down a full step, hence the capo on the second fret (To keep to the original tuning.

    or

    2. I moved the capo up to make it easier for me to sing :)

  • It's good but stay relax while playing

  • I don't think you sing it bad. You did a good job. :)

  • awesome simply awesome

  • awesome dude really really awesome

  • Nice, but I agree with the guys above, a little too fast...

  • What guitar is that?

  • My brother's washburn D10. It costs around £100-£150. I actually have the same guitar now except in black, it's a really good guitar for the price you pay :)

  • Comment removed

  • good very very good

  • unique voice but a little quick on the chord changes. perhaps changing the pace a littel slower. good job!

  • I agree. It's not bad but your pace is all over the place. You keep suddenly speeding up. Try a metronome

  • Cant see why you've had so many moronic comments about this song, i think its an excellent cover and your voiced sounded well on it. keep it up mate.

  • Any chance you could share the chords with us ?

  • Amazing lad, beautiful .

  • Very nice

  • nice

  • Bad Ass Dude!!!.... Awesome job... :)

5 Stars........Very unique voice and very well played melody on the guitar.... keep up the great work...

  • Haha ty, and don't worry I don't take any of the comments on here to heart, good or bad.

I enjoy playing the guitar and singing, if I thought I was a super player and singer then sure I'd take notice of the insults, but seeing as I don't think that, I'll carry enjoying it ;)

  • very good..this was one the first songs i learned on my acoustic..Don't take any notice of the neg comments here.

  • unreal!!! excellent

  • u are great lolllll!!!!!

Go n get an album!!! ill buy!!!!

  • bowie kicks ass... that sounded great, fuck those fucks who contradict you, they can't play and sing it can they? fuckin eh

  • You do have a beautyful voice!

  • amazing

  • 5 stars!

  • Haha go Mortykid! Good on ya, I wouldn't pay any mind to those losers who don't know shit from shit.

  • Oh please, I'm sure "your boy" can handle himself. And just to support that little ounce of intelligence you have, check who flamed who first (I.e. "your boy" decided to insult me).

Please comment back, I've just check your youtube profile, quite hilarious, I do hope that's not you in your background... looks like some kind of crack whore posing faceless for a picture to earn some cash :S

  • I assume you've never heard the original version of this song by David Bowie, he's noted for his slow solemn voice, which is what I did here.

Please try and be more constructive next time, saying exactly why my voice sucks here instead of a random comment like that ;)

  • take no notice im a fan of Bowie and you did a good job, well done

  • wow this is your best one mate

  • Well I don't really work out a strum pattern, I just play how it comes naturally I guess xD

  • Great job! I have all the chords down but I can't quite get the rythm to sound right. What strum pattern are you using?

  • Thanks for the reply Aero :)

As for the chord, in the key that I play it in (C) I don't play any F#. The chord just after "and may god's love be with you" that I play is a D7 I think.

But just for your information an F# is just a normal F major chord moved up one fret (A full barred chord is barring on the second second fret with the regular F shape).

I'll send you this through private message just in case you dont read this :D

  • I kind of wondered about the finger position during the guitar part between 'and may god's love be with you'. How exactly do you play the F#?

  • Yep I'm English :)

  • r u english?

  • It seems a bit flat, but I like it. and, um, much as i know what you mean about the guitar and singing thing, unlike me you actually can sing alright. lucky you.

  • WOA!!

You sound exactly like David Bowie!!!!

Lol, and you make it look so easy!!!

tq for uploading, great 4 reference..

specially liked the cure - friday i'm in love

    Keep it up

  • Thanks, if you ever want any help with chord/finger positions just ask I'll be happy to private message you some info :)

  • Really good, trying to learn Space Oddity on the guitar, very useful video for reference.

  • Thanks for the great comments :)

  • I love your voice! :) Good work.

  • Your voice is great on this, congrats!

Perhaps, have you got by any chance, the right chords for this song?

    keep up the good work!
