Once it's stuck on the differential the only option is to lift and pull. Trying to drag tons of mud and dirt doesn't work. I drove a tow truck for years and never understood why these 4 wheel guys never figured that out? If it won't come out by rolling, you have to lift or at least build up under the tires to give it clearance.
