@cpcomedy314 I think Benny explained it years back on how when they open, air tends to go down into the car, which creates a down force, pushing the car down, keeping the wheels on the ground. But seems like no help.
the goal of the roof flap is kind of like an airbrake on a plane. the goal is, once the car gets spun backwards roof flap comes up, slows the car down below that 195+ threshold and keep the car on the ground. as we know it doesnt always work as planned, but since 94 the cars dont fly like they used to(as often).
amazing, flipped at the same track in two consecutive years. both times he emerged unscathed!

Roof flaps sort of make no sence... They make force at the bottom of the flap and it just makes it want to go up farther!

Yeah that crash did cause some problems, a driver isn't as good as he was after he has a hard crash. It usually isn't easy to recover after that.

its funny cuz before the race sadler said he wanted to finish on all fours. and he did. he flipped on his wheels when he crossed the line.
