The problem with "iBooks" is that you cannot read in the sun, and a lot of people like to go to Central Park, the beach, etc with their books. With those e-ink reader things, reading in the sun is possible. If you don't believe me, I saw a picture for myself, google "13 glaring ipad shortcomings" by TechNewsDaily. You don't have to read the article, just scroll down and look at the photo comparing how the kindle looks in the sun vs the ipad.

Should be smaller, maybe in the 6-8 inch range if you want to use the ipad as a ereader.

Its about that kindle has a E-ink display.

Ipad has a TFT glossy capacitive display so I think its not the best option for reading e-books.

@StanleySindler well i guess both machines have thier pros and cons for one on the ipad u can bring up the dictionary while ur reading a very useful feature (At least for me because i don't know some words in a book im reading) and as u said for the kindle it would be the e-ink display which makes it feel more book like.

@StanleySindler There is a review online right now that says readability is on par with the kindle dx, but the ipad far outperforms the kindle in every possible way besides that. I am going to try an ipad this weekend.

In fact this device actualy encourages you to buy books that you may not even need. A space saving solution for books maybe , but not a money saver!..

Oh yeah I remember the point in history you refer to - just before the release of Windows XP. That was when Windows and PCs were unstable. Fact is most people use PCs hassle free these days and Apple fanboys rely on the old flakey Windows image (circa 1999) which is no longer relevant over a decade on now Windows works. TechTV ran a hacking contest to find which box was more vulnerable. The Mac box was more vulnerable to hacking than the Windows box. So yeah enough of your old school views.

Ugh! I hate CrApple products. Does it shut off every 5 seconds like an Ipod Touch and go into sleep mode? It just does books? No music, video, or web? I bet DRM issues are annoying. If a download fails when then?
