If it's a tie, then I suppose the owner should pick preference which I highly doubt is motivated by racism since people of that mindset are in the minority these days.

I was always against a person getting a job/promotion just because they were a certain race, gender, handicap and so on.
People should only get hired for a job is if they were the best candidate for it.
