Downloaded this yesterday. Great game, but it's got some issues:

1. Controls suck and cannot be changed.

2. Lots of problems with the sound. Reinstalled multiple times and I keep losing sound after playing a few times. (Might just be me.)

3. Enemies respawn if their spawn point if off screen, even slightly. (Maybe that's intentional, but it seems dumb.)

4. YOU CAN'T SAVE!?! I'm not going to play this 4 hours straight to play all the levels. I still haven't seen the 4th mission. :/

1, 3 and 4 are very common for old NES games. 4 was commonly countered with often-clunky password features, but a save feature for a fan-made game should be standard, I agree. I brought that issue up with Pixel Force's Left 4 Dead de-make too.

As for the sound issues, I dunno what to say to that; I haven't tried this one yet.
