  • It's that why the Bronie phenomena is such a big thing now? Because people, for once, are openly loving and enjoying something? (The something being a cartoon aimed at 7 year-old girls is probably a bonus)

  • SMH

  • Ok I'm like old and really really enjoy my asian music and get those looks and comments too from workers and some family. But, I'm so happy with it all. Narrow minde people are everywhere and they are the reason our world is as it is!!!

I have learne so much in the last 12yrs and would not change it. And my stepson is stationed in Korean and he has to learn Hungul. LOL So live your life because when all is said and done you only have you in the end so enjoy you!!!LOL

  • Linzerdinzer for Pres.

I admit I use to be guilty of this too, but I dropped it once I got into kpop. You're right, I was just soo much happier when I could freely like stuff. Sucks that i'm judged for it and am labelled a "fangirl". Right, cause me looking at pictures of DBSK singing and CLOTHED is worse than all those guys looking at pics of -insert half dressed model- and fantasizing about them -_____-''

  • Yes, this so much. I used to always get ridiculed for liking kpop, and anime because I'm caucasian. They would say I'm an asian wannabe and I just like it because most of my friends (who were asian) liked it. For a long time I would hide the fact that I liked kpop and anime because of it too... I even felt embarassed... but now I just don't care. I feel that people who are willing to hate someone or judge someone (in a negative way) based on the genre of music they listen to are pathetic.

  • Great topic. I think it's a unique thing in American highschool or social scene where it's cool to "diss" certain things in order to look superior or individualistic. I'm not sure if this is a thing in Western culture in general, but it's not quite the case in Asia. At least not to that extreme.

  • Did you get prettier...?

  • @philosophy75 I dunno, did I? Lost a bunch of weight.

  • @linzerdinzertv You were cute before, but this new hair style makes you look better. BTW, congrats on the weight loss, stay awesome! :)

  • I feel strongly about this issue. Good job. I have found that as I have gotten more confident, I have been more positive about things because I care less if I was allowed to like things. That is why is it cool for little kids to like things, but older kids (now having social awareness but not yet knowing where they stand) judge and scoff at everything, but when they mature (some at 16, other 18, others 45) they can enjoy everything again.

  • @GypsyKundi I have used the Ninja Turtle example before. As a small kid you like Ninka Turtles (sub Barbies/Power Rangers or whatever), then when are like 10-13 it becomes "baby stuff" and totally LAME, and then suddenly you hit an age where it is cool again. You aren't afraid of actually being a baby, therefore it is not threatening for you to like "baby stuff". Really interesting...

  • i also discovered gackt (malice mizer) near the start of high school :) i used to have the same attitude that liking stuff isn't cool then i grew up and decided i don't give a f*ck about other peoples opinion :D

  • I can tell I really, really, really do not want to watch that video of kids reacting to K-Pop.

  • @SunniePattison no you dont im not really all that into kpop - but it even made me angry how they were so....idk close minded or something

  • See, this is why I love nerd culture. People are free to really love things!

  • I like boobies and I won't let anyone convince me otherwise!!!

  • Many of us have that one artist that opened us into the world of J/K Pop/Rock. Who that artist is will be different for all of us; but we all have someone.

For me, my thanks go to Gackt. Much like Linzer, I discovered Gackt in Jr year of High School. Gackt would not only become my favorite; but through Gackt I was able to jump into Malice Mizer and through Malice Mizer, I discovered the Visual Kei genre.

Again, we all have different artists to thank but that's who I'll thank.

  • Thank you for posting this!!! I'm proud to be a kpop fan and I love to love it!!!

  • 0 dislikes............. <3

  • They are just some stupid kids. Why should we care about some stupid, ignorant, shallow kids opinion?

  • You're so pretty!

  • this is really great social commentary, keep it coming! <3

  • If I didn't take pride in my joy of J-Pop and K-Pop my sister probably never would have become a fan of K-Pop and I wouldn't have somebody to spazz with daily.

  • YES. YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS VIDEO IS A YES.

  • yes yes

  • I love you for this fudge the kids react kids I unsubscribed to them love you

  • I got into Kpop, Jpop, and Jrock 3yrs ago when I was 17 and have been lucky enough to see some of my favorite artists in the past year or two (EX: last October I went to see SM TOWN NYC in, where else?) as well as meeting some of my closets friends. Though nowadays I'm more of a kpop person, the genre has inspired me to take my dream of becoming a singer to greater heights (Gackt is my Lord and Savior and Yunho oppa is my hero, who just so happens to share the same birthday as me. BOSS!)

  • My third grade teacher was a fan of Asian pop culture, and at the time, it was nowhere near as popular here as it is now. I have no idea what response she got from adults when she spoke about it, but I know at that age I thought it was cool. Four years later I stumbled upon kpop, and even then, it wasn't quite as popular as it is today. Here I am a sophomore in high school, and I have an English II teacher ripping on my taste in music because it's "not cool." Respect, I have none.

  • I have to say I got excited when I saw the title and the thumbnail. I still love Gackt and L'Arc~en~Ciel. I completely agree with this, it's what I've been saying for a long time. I also hate when someone calls what you like "unoriginal", insinuating that what they like IS original. Therefore it doesn't make sense to me. Why must I like only the "original" stuff you do? I don't get what makes something original and unoriginal.

  • "Because nerds like us are allowed to be unironically enthusiastic about stuff... nerds are allowed to love stuff, like jump-up-and-down-in-the-chair, can't control yourself love it. When people call people nerds, mostly what they're saying is, 'you like stuff,' which is just not a good insult at all. Like, 'you are too enthusiastic about the miracle of human consciousness.'" -John Green

  • Asian music definitely has a super negative connotation in high school these days because it's usually liked by the hipster-type people who tell people that they wouldn't know/like it, and that it's so much better than everything else.

  • I get made fun of for likeing k-pop.....

  • @Chrispisz12 So do I but instead of listening to it I just turn up my JYJ louder. It's not easy liking things that people don't even understand and instead of trying to understand it they just make fun of it. It's just how things unfortunately are, I don't mean to sound preachy but I do understand what you're going through.

  • whenever I get called a hipster I 1) say "thank you" and 2) say "you're welcome for all the shit you'll like in 2 years when its popular". :)

  • THERE IS SO MUCH LOVE IN THE COMMENTS FOR THIS VIDEO!! I couldn't be happier - keep 'em coming executives!!

  • I remember girls liking boybands like BSB and NSync and 98 Degrees in high school (grad in 2001). My friends and I liked Hanson. There was one girl in my class who was a major Hanson fan and everyone knew it and sometimes playfully teased her but she was always never ashamed to say she liked them. I admired that cause I wasn't that way. I was more shy. People liked the "cool" things. I was hoping you'd talk about this! :-D Did you see Park Bom's reaction to it? Haha it was cute.

  • This is my favorite channel on Youtube. Also I love Britney Spears.

  • Comment removed

  • i love you

  • I dont know where hipster-culture came from but its spreading all over (i live in europe) and it makes me angry. people who try their hardest to look their worst just so they dont appear too mainstream or too good looking are looking down on everything and everybody who shows another emotion than being bored.

i like stuff, and i try my best to look good (for my taste) and i care about things. if that makes me not cool - so be it.

  • Thank you! it's so very sad and very true. But thank you for putting this up, you gals work hard and put up great videos and I love it.

Keep up the great work ^.^

  • Gackt was one of my first too c:

  • I enjoyed this video :)I think the comment I hate the most is "you are trying to be asian" or "you are asian now", I don't want to defy the laws of nature just because i like a certain culture, music and language. And why did nobody say stuff like that when I liked US culture or when I was crazy over English bands and live. I am hispanic and it will never change nor i wish it did. I am happy to be able to enjoy different cultures equally and i don't ever wan't to change who i am.

  • WOW! So true. Best argument in a long time.

  • NICE HAIR!

  • I love you and your hair... great video

  • I remember the Hansons :') I loved loved loved them when I was little.

When I watched the "kids react" video all I thought was "OMG. Little American children. It may be a surprise, but not ALL countries want to listen to your country's music. Other cultures ARE allowed to have a music industry -.-" And then I realised it was probably bad of me to think that >.>

  • I was one of those that was into Asian pop back in high school and showed all my friends...and now it's popularity is making me look like a hipster...when I just...really did like it before they all did...makes me sad...

  • I used to like all the k-pop and j-pop stuff, but since I moved, I couldn't find anyone I could talk to about music I like, so ended up listening to less and less of it. It's sad that people sometimes don't give a chance listening to music that is different =S Thank you for this vid, keep up the good work ;)

  • THAT DRESS IS CUTE GURL WEAR IT :D

  • Your hair looks nice :D

  • you look pretty today.

  • that little pissed me off so much! What is he?! Like 10?! -__-"

  • I wish I was in High School when you were. I think Asian pop has been tainted with the "not cool" brand, and it shits me. People in my school just really can't accept that I like Asian pop, it's like it's the devil to them, and they need me to justify myself. They seem to constantly tie it to "You want to be Asian". Which is bullshit. And unfortunately, I think it's only further pushed by the fact that my best friend is the only Asian in our year level.

    And generally... They're all hipsters.

  • @BATOOST I loveeee your username d^^b

And yes, I know what you mean -.-" I live in Australia and.... well... since I'm Australian and I love Asian music, dramas, fashion, cosmetics and guys ( d^.^b) it AUTOMATICALLY means that I wish I was an Asian (Im told this all the time). That I'm a wannabe -.-" This isn't true and really makes no sense. What annoys me the most is how people try to put a negative spin on something which obviously brings me so much happiness.

    *shakes head*

  • @SugarHeadaches I LIKE YOUR USERNAME TOO!! AND I'M FROM AUSTRALIA TOO!! Fuckin' crazy shit man!

But YES! I don't think people realise how much it hurts to have people tell you you're not allowed to like something that you like. Asian pop culture, for me, is so much brighter. Australian pop culture is grungy/indie hipsters. And because I found something I liked in another culture, and wasn't particularly fond of Australian pop culture, I'm told I'm a "wannabe Asian". I have no desire to be Asian

  • @BATOOST

*hi five* WE MUST BE SOUL MATES.

To me Australia has no /real/ culture. That's why I fell in love with Asian, particularly Korean culture.Because it EXISTS and isn't just beer, football and going to the beach. It has tradition, beauty and respect....if that makes sense.

And when people think you love EVERYTHING just because it comes from that country? -.-" Makes me so damn annoyed. I like it because it appeals to me through it's message/ visually. NOT because it's from Korea/Japan.

  • @SugarHeadaches Fuck yeah, soul mates~

And well... that's really Australian culture, isn't it? Hahaha. I suppose it's harder to recognise the quirks of a certain country's culture when you've grown up in it, because it doesn't seem like culture, it just seems like the "norm".

And oh MY GOD. That is the MOST ANNOYING. Like, yes, I do like Asian pop culture, I'm more drawn towards it, but that doesn't mean I like all of it. Urgh, this topic. I could go on for forever.

  • @BATOOST OMG same here, i even get it from other asian people who say, "do you wanna be korean" like..no i dont. do you wanna be american because you listen to american music? same with other americans here, one girl said i have no good music on my ipod because it was mainly asian music. its like they think asian stuff is nerdy or dumb i dont get it.

  • @TenshiTamagoKidd15 have you ever had the "i dont like korean/asian music" i had an argument with a friend saying "you can't lump them all together, there are some amazingly talented muscians in asia/korea who have created some beautiful music, don't be blindsided just by your misconceptions on kpop or jpop. not only are there amazing pop songs. also funnily enough, there are other genres in these countries!"

    her reaction?

"dude i'm not being racist. i also don't like finnish music.."

    sigh.

  • @BATOOST urg i hate that, the "your dream is to be asian isnt it?", "you only hang around with asians because you're obessesed with them".

no i am very happy with who i am, i just happen to appreicate another cultures music, and i am friends with these people because i like them. not because of their race.

    (and nice reference to simonandmartina)

  • @sisinead Yah, it's the stupidest.

And thank you! I honestly couldn't believe it wasn't taken! lmao

  • @BATOOST I love your username.......... XD I think the people at your high school were like that cuz they haven't been exposed to minorities and their cultures very much. I went to a high school with a ton of Asians, so we were all cool with k-pop. XDD

  • @willytillyfilly I do believe that's probably the case. And, I'm still in high school, lmao. Last year, asdfg FREAKING OUT.

Ahem, yes, but then again, I grew up in the same town as them (which isn't very multi-cultural) but I've always been extremely accepting of different cultures. And it wasn't my family, because the issue of race never came up in our house, yet I still managed to have these ideas of acceptance

So, that's not really an excuse for them, haha. I think they just need to grow up.

  • @BATOOST It's the same for me, and even my family and some of my friends who don't like Kpop are this way...even some American-born Koreans! Tell me I just wanna be Asian for liking Asian and Korean things.

@Linzerdinzertv I think I love you. XD Because everything you said is exactly right, and how I'm feeling. I'm going to share this video with everyone! <3<3

  • OMG. Exactly what I've been thinking for so long.

Haters can hate, just don't lurk on blogs, videos, photos, and anything else related to what you hate!

  • I'd like to say I agree with your video. And that my sister walked in, saw the screen and asked "is that an actress?" (not that I'm implying you were any less gorgeous before)

  • You never cease to amaze me! I was just saying the same thing the other day! :)

  • I love how you point out things people actually /sortof/ know, but nobody ever really takes time to think about~ Though I didn't really think the kids react episode was that offensive, lots of kids were actually pretty cool about it.

  • YAM Loves LinzerDinzerTV ;D

  • OMG you are my guilty pleasure. I think ive said this before, there is something about the way you are lindsay, idk what it is but it kicks my budds, but i love watching you secretly. hehe

  • i feel the same way. i got into kpop 4 years ago, (when wonder girls, big bang, and snsd was just starting) and when i meet someone or one of my friends start to like kpop, it was really cool. altho no one is "hating" it yet, i feel the need to hide the fact that i listen to kpop because i know it'll get overrated at one point and will have a large group of haters.

  • I LOVE your hairstyle! It's the sad truth... Luckily for me I sorta enjoy being the black sheep so I can be like "WHAT!?!! I like K-pop, that's right! I said it! Do something turkey! I WISH YOU WOULD!!!" lol. P.S. it was weirdly ironic the Country Mary mentioning zombies happened right as Resident Evil came on Syfy channel... lol

  • i liked this video before it came out and then everyone else started liking it so now i hate it

  • Thank YOU!! But even though people never hear of it at my school they still give it judgement and I am not considered cool at all... :( what do I do??

  • 1:39 Someone please gif that moment. I had the EXACT same issue today! With Kid's React! With My Little Pony! (this is a safe place; no teasing) I adore your brilliant brain, Linzer. An amazing episode! Never disappoints!

  • I used to be a hipster, but then I took an...

    No wait, I just stopped.

    Nice video :)

  • "When is this cycle of negativity going to end?" ...Well...when people basically stop being insecure...which is probably never...yup.

  • Linz, I'm going to find it difficult that I didn't partially inspire this topic.

  • I liked this video before I watched it since I knew it would be awesome D:
