Marcel Jacob's tone on this song is distinctively more "bass-y" than on other songs with Yngwie. He normally had the gritty midrange thing going on. But it fits the song, I like it!.
well i hate to say it but i think jeff is better than graham.. 2 very different singers.. graham does the high notes a little more impressively but jeff seems to be able to kinda , be sensible and only do notes he can hit 100 percent.
@partyongarth420 check out Graham with Steve Vai- he's as good as on record- in the Alcatrazz days yngwie tried to drown graham out with guitar- with yngwie gone he got his voice back
@CrosbyStillsNashYoun Seriously man ,bonnet can sing ...but he loses too much the tune.We never know if he would kick ass or do some fiasco.Jeff really made this song brilliant ,one of the best singing in rock i1ve ever heard. The version i saw with bonnet was just ... beyound bad.no ofense.Peace.
anyone else wonder how the hell he played like 40 notes in that solo with his fucking teeth.. as soon as he started picking hammer ons with his teeth like that was wondering if it was really him or not..magician
the ending isnt rly that bad. imo it aint at all, but ya thats jus my opinion. this is kickass. yngwie jus looks so kool playing live. swingin his guitar, usin his mouth, all that good shit lol
I don't know why Yngwie added that extra part at the end.
This was one of the most incredible performances evere, by everyone involved. It really would have rocked harder if they would have just ended it with just the voice and the delay from the voice.
Oh well. Unbelievable vocals. Plus really cool song, and lyrics. This was one of their best performances, how fitting it should be in Japan.
@bloodpollution Yep. Soto was reaching his career peak here. Look for the bootlegs from the Trilogy tour when he returned to the band briefly after Boals. His vocal range was amazing back then.
He also converts all of his Strats that have 3 bolt necks to 4 bolt necks. His hands are so large that a 3 bolt neck would shift out of alignment on him so he prefers the stability of 4.He uses graphite nuts as well. (no comedy intended)
No he doesn't: He uses brass nuts; says they provide more sustain; it was something that was popular in the '70s (Though I hear it's MURDER trying to keep your guitar in tune w/ one! Ugh! However, somehow, Yngwie does it!). Okay, laters!
Yngwie only has stock Strat tremelos on his guitars. He does not use Floyd Rose or any other clamping system. His bridge is set up to "float" however which is done by loosening the mounting screws on the bridge plate and adjusting the spring tension to allow for that in the back. That's it.
He did use a floyd on some of his guitars early in his career but it would not have the locking nut just the tremolo because the floyd is superior to a fender trem if you wont to have lots of floating up and down but without the locking nut the tuning stability is the same as any fender type trem.
No, if you look at the arm, it's not a vintage type arm, and a couple of shots are clear enough that you can see it's not a fender tremolo. Looks like an early floyd to me.
Fair enough, I was mostly responding cause I didn't like how you laughed the guy off for thinking it might be something other than a vintage style fender, which it clearly isn't. That's really all I can tell about it from the video other than that the tremolo arm itself is exactly like a floyd style.
I've been fortunate to see some great players in my 41 years; Al Dimeola, Brett Garsed, Frank Gambale, Yngwie, Vivian Campbell, Ritchie Blackmore, Shawn Lane, EVH, Jake E. Lee, Brad Gillis,Strunz and Farah, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, George Lynch. About half of those guys I got to meet at guitar clinics. Got to the club about 2 hours before the gig and got to listen to Shawn Lane warm up in a empty club for about 45 minutes. What a humbling exp!
Why oh why did Yngwie get rid of Soto? What a great voice! I like him better than Bonnet because Bonnet's voice was limited and Soto's a lot more diverse.
Great solo, for any guitarist out there. Yngwie's playing was extremely fluid.

Cool. I caught this tour as well, but had awful seats. Went on the day after we heard Cliff Burton died. All around us, people talking about it, had news clippings etc.
When i saw him on the Odyessy tour I was about 4 feet from him and you could hear every single note he played. Even when he was shredding or playing lighting fast arpeggios you could hear everything like you were sitting in his living room. When I saw him in Seattle in a 12,000 seat arena it was the same! Had a tough time hearing Viv with Ronnie but Yngwie was so fast AND clean.

fender makes reverse headstock strats, but the logos are right side up.
this logo is upside down so he got it from a left handed strat because no manufacturer sells replacement headstocks. all headstocks are part of the neck, so if you want a different headstock your going to have to lose your old neck.

this is in 85 so it cant be an early version of a Floyd
but thats a fender tremolo
its not string through the body its with the blocks just like Floyd but
it has no Fine Tuners

They've been around since about 78, and that's one right there.

i know they started in 78 and they didnt really take off till early 80s to mid 80s

and thats what i think thats what it is
besides the early versions of FR didnt look like that
