2) When formatting you don't necessarily lose all photos,

3) There are plenty apps to rescue pix from erased memory cards (evidently you aren't aware of it),

4) Those 118 photos aren't that many, unless you're a pro who can nail each shot the 1st time. I doubt you are so what you lost was unlikely of great quality.
