  • That's fine, a bit of a stretch is your opinion. Best album of all time is my opinion, I suppose I should have prefaced my comment with'IMHO'. I know no other album that has given me so much, for me it's the best by a big country mile :-)

  • @Nigelxman no it's not a competition, it's just my opinion.

  • @BC1000stars Mine too. Needless comment from @nigeltxman really.

  • Brilliant. R.I.P. Stuart. A true legend.

  • stuart you dont know how much you are missed r.i.p

  • 1986 Nijmegen, The Netherlands @ De Vereeniging great conceert!

  • These guys kicked U2's ass on many levels, and yet they were always just a shadow of U2, sadly.

  • The greatest band to come out of the 80's! Saw the boys play a few weeks back & still sound great 28 years after I first saw them. Stuart was a class act & can never be replaced. Hope you found your peace Stuart......we miss you RIP.

  • An awesome version of this song. Stuart sounds amazing here. Like it with all the industrial clips in too! :-)

  • my beatles my band i love big country i grew up wiv em and i'll die wiv em just listen 2 this AMAZING!!!!!

  • my beatles my band i love big country i grew up wiv em and i'll die wiv em just listen 2 this FUCKIN MAZING!!!!!

  • Big country one of the best Scottish bands of all time. Bruce Watson highly highly talented music writer & one of the most under rated guitarists of our time but we have a habit of doing that to our own. The rest of the boys were magic but Stuart adamson will go down in my book as a legend. The politics in the songs are superb. That's the thing with Scottish bands of that era talking about little Scottish towns that relied on industry & maggie thatcher done her best to destroy. RIP Stuart your

  • We built all this with our own hands,

Who could have known we'd built on sand.

  • Shame about Stewart....His spirit still lives on in the music!

  • Fantastic video!

    Olga/

  • BC great band !!!

  • Brilliant, thanks for posting! Especially for those of us who weren't around to experience BC at the time. Is it possible to experience nostalgia for something you never experienced in the first place?

  • Hey, The good ol' Usa is closing Fire stations, schools, and police stations. My father would never have stood by and let this happen. Why am I just sitting here on youtube bitching about the the new jutopoia? Heads will roll soon!

  • incredible.

  • They simply were at their very best here. I'm at a loss for words. I'm only grateful to BC for all the emotions their music gave me.

  • I cant think of many bands that convey such energy! These guys are electric I'm talking 10,000 volts.

Not only a powerful guitar driven wall of sound, but awesome and inspiring lyrics to boot.

    STAY ALIVE !

  • Quality song, quality tunes, quality live gigs.......just quality......and if anyone disagrees....don't worry, the world can THINK it is right, but we KNOW we are.

  • had this concert on vhs video years ago

  • A fair days wage for a fair days work.

  • UNION. YES!

  • BC will always be #1 with me... I would, however, like to see Springsteen cover a BC song. Springsteen concerts are similar to a Big Country show, very big and anthemic, lots of emotion and "National Pride" if you will (much like the National Anthem at a ball game).

  • @hamletsdarkhorse True but despite all his success, Bruce can't hold a candle to Big Country.

  • Agreed

  • wow,I grew up on this and it's still awesome.RIP Stuart.Your genius remains for all to appreciate and enjoy.Big Country Forever......

  • i love it!

    cheers for putting on,

    Jan.

  • Agreed, These guys are top-flight musicians.

Songs like this cause my soul to freeze in place. Stuart wrote things with with such a quality,

    Respect.

  • And I might add: I bought the record (remember them?) the day it was released. I was shocked by Steeltown. Everything about it was new, yet the critics panned it. Those fuckers. Just a Shadow created wrinkles in my youth. There is no miracle in ruin. But Stuart created an optimisim in me I never knew possible. He gave me hope through music.

  • I am so encouraged by these comments. I grew up on BC. Stuart helped me survive age 16. At that poor age I recognized the brilliance of the band. I will never forget. Stuart never truly understood his wonderful impact on us. I miss him dearly every day.

  • Steeltown is the best album of all time, period. It is a genuine masterclass for any band in how to take the listener on a journey and pound their senses into oblivion with a sheer wall of intense guitar rock music and a tidal wave of emotion.

Stuart Adamson, you are missed by MANY, everyday.

R.I.P His name will never die.

  • Best album of all time. Now that's quite a statement!

I'll have to say that The Crossing is right up there as well.

  • @BC1000stars There is no "best" album of all time. I realize your post is 2 years old but when are people going to accept that music or art or film is completely subjective. Amazing how many people feel the need to make it a competition. It's not. But yes, Steeltown is a great album. :-)

  • @BC1000stars Erm.....Best album of all time? Sorry but that's a bit of a stretch. Love love love Big Country though and I am still gutted that Stuart is gone.

  • Awesome , Big country are my favourite band! am 25 and remember hearing my folks playing their music years ago, at the time I never genuinly appreciated the genius of big Stuarty Adamson. Recently listened to them again and I can now appreciate their timeless class. Seeing these old live versions of them is just fantastic!

  • my fav bc song,my mum bought the crossing on cd in 83 when i was 13,i picked it up and seen country then put it down,a few days later i put it in the cd player..it changed my life forever..the only band to sound better live...steeltown the best song ive ever heard..a song for the working class i then understood what my mum and grandad talked about after that being from ne england.....stu a...legend..

  • That is so true. Not many bands are better live than their studio albums. Big Country, The Alarm, The Who all are far superior live.

  • Anyway this can be re-posted without chopping off the last note of the song and the audience reaction?

  • Nice to see some serious rock music that honours the work of humanity. Regards to the memory of Stuart. Your music stilled my troubled heart and gave sense to the efforts of man.

  • Oh yeah.

  • Many thanks for all these NYC concert videos. They are great, wish I was there but this is the next best thing!! Very good quality too. Greatly appreciated.

  • Cheers Cavalier. I had this gig on VHS, must have lost it along the way. Still play the music every day though. Nothing will ever replace the music of Big Country in my life, my one Great Thing. Thanks again - may the long road rise up to meet you. Cheers !

  • All of you vids rock!!! The quality as well--I have my volumes turned way down and other folks can still here me jamming!!!Wish I were there in 1986!!!

  • Thank you so much for posting! I love seeing them live!! =)
