Ok his intonation isn't perfect but the song is pretty hard. However jaschenski you're retarded because it's very easy to tell major or minor. Even when he's off pitch it's more consistant. Maybe I just have good ears. I think when it modulates your ears are getting confused. It's ok....we can't all be blessed with perfect pitch.
Wow, crazy coincidence! I came across your video while I was looking for a recording of this caprice, because I'm playing it next week in the 2009 edition of the International Competition for Young Violinists in Lublin! If I may ask, how was the competiton?
It seems like the room is very echoey so thanks for the great playing and for the heads up! =P
Maybe you have to play slower, because you play only notes, a lot of notes... but it is the Music else! And you never hear the last notes of each phrases, it is not good. Try) I hope that you understood me)
your interpretation inspired me to learn this piece in the only instrument i can play, the guitar, when its recorded, i will show you the video. Really good played men! keep up!!!
Awesome. I am nowhere near playing like that on the violin yet I have been learning these Caprices along with Paganini's and Sarasate's, but on Guitar. In regards to this song, the string skipping is quite a challenge to overcome. In the end, Bravo. Flawless.
It is a little sharp. People say it is flawless, but at the end of some of the runs, there are little mistakes like he is getting stuck right before the note on the harmonic at the end of some of the phrases. It is good he got it at that tempo. I think the room he is in echoes too much and that effects the sound of the intonation as well.
To me there's not enough definition in the intonation - you can't tell whether it's major or minor a lot of the time. The acoustics may play a part but enough slow practice listening and double-stopping should get over that.
Having said that it's clearly a beast to play well and sounds very good on the whole.
Little mistakes, but good sound and good musical interpretation..NIce work!

Last year I was at a master class and a very good violinist said "It is only worthwhile playing quickly if you can hear all the notes."

Sam fakt ze grasz coś szybko nie znaczy, że grasz to genialnie, więc się tak nie nadymaj.

Last note out of tune. I hate playing the last note out of tune after everything else is pretty good.

Is it me, or is his intonation just a tad off?!
winrx 5 years ago
It might be the acoustics of the room, or maybe the recording itself.
