They get faster the longer they are before you hit the permafrost, it also seems if they hit you or they are close to you they go much faster to. Maybe it's random.
if your so "organised" then why dont you take your guild into icecrown citadel when its released and make a video of you showing just how well organised you are and down every boss on the first go, and it has to be on 25 man hard mode too
Ranged DPS should be taking down the orbs in the sky. The orbs create a permafrost on the ground as you could see in the video, another tank should be tanking any adds over the frost, and the maintank should be tanking Anub'Arak over frost to. You don't lose health as our leader thought in this video, only slower movement speed. If and when Anub'Arak burrows, Scarabs spawn. Any players who aren't being pursued kill them. If you're being pursued, go to the permafrost. But yes, only one at a time.

The spikes cannot carry on pursuing you, it hits the frost then he stops and pursues someone else.
