@Starrizfy33 IF you get a chinchilla that has more friends from the same place, they will be glad to be with another chinchilla friend. But beware, Girls with girls= fine, Girls with boy = could fight but mostly not, Boys with boys = they can fight a lot if not knowing each other. . . often cuts and scratches, but sometimes, if unlucky, death. . . . So be careful to have two chinchillas sometimes they can fight, but mine don't so. . . Have a nice time with your new furry friends they are playful

@CaliforniaGrown420 He's not abusing him in any way. I've had my chinchilla for the past 9 years (he passed away a few days ago). He always made these kinds of noises when he was startled or wanted some attention. Peanut isn't used to his environment yet, so he's naturally scared. No abuse involved.

when you let a chinchilla run around dont they poop and piss on your rug? how do you prevent this?

@xxuncexx theres not much you can do, but try buying one of those little playpins and makiing a little section for chins only you could buy a cheap little rug or something and lay it down in the pen so that it doesnt matter and its easy to just wash the sheet or rug or whatever. there pretty good about not peeing to much and the poops are hard and easy to vacuum. have fun and good luck.

Lol. My chin does that do. Sometimes he does the first sound at night. and when I try picking him up he makes the second noise. The first sound is known to be an alarm because the chin is seeing something that its not use to and the second sound is when they are annoyed. Thats just what I heard.

When I got my two chinchillas, I basically ignored them for an entire week until they got used to their surroundings. While one warmed up to me rather quickly, the other one barked several times a day for an entire month. I didn't rush or try to force them and I knew both of them would be eating out of my hands sooner or later.

@LightingBolt42 don't get a chinchilla for your room unless you plan on sleeping with a pair of headphones or earplugs on all night, lol. They are nocturnal. You won't get any sleep at all.  If you're a light sleeper it's even worse! The night time is their most active time. I have my chinchillas 3 rooms down and if I didn't have the tv on in my room, I can hear them.

@Dafneswim kinda, but chinchillas are usually active at dusk. I'm not saying they don't sleep at night. Mine do. I catch them sleeping at different times during the night off and on. If I go in their room several times during the night, half the time their playing the other half they are taking quick naps just to start up again. But during the day, they act like they are half dead :) They are so tired from playing half the night, I catch them eating with their eyes closed in the morning.

my chinchillas make sounds like that, the very last sounds that kind of a barking noise is a warning. The bark then they're annoyed and want left alone. With some chinchilla is you don't heed their warnings they'll stand on their hind legs and spray pee towards you...not pleasant
