I LOVE the way she sings this song! Such emotion! She ALWAYS puts her emotion into a song and sets fire to it. Love her version. I remember the version done by the Real Thing in the 80's and loved that one too
I Love Mary!! Everytime they show this video on VH1 I'm always there to see it!! Mary put her foot in this song. I never get tired of hearing it. This is one of my favorite live songs from any artist. Get it Mary!! Shalom form 0themagical1 :)
Nobody can sing as well as us Negros/Latinos/Native Americans (Hebrew Israelites) and this is a clear example which proves that we are God's chosen people. Mary J. Blige straight killed it on this one.
Mary killed it! She is probably one of the best live performers. She really really puts all her pain and emotion in her live performance and when she it's that hi-off note or whatever imperfection that is what makes it so incredible. THere is nuthin like hearing a soul singer with that raspy deep voice, that's what seperates her from the others who don't sound as genuine and deep as Mary. When I hear a emotional song I wanna hear that pain in the singers voice and MAry does that so damn well
I'm sorry peeps ... but the band and background singers are PUTTIN' IT DOWN!!!!!! While I admire Ms. Blige for all of her accomplishments, I have listened to her many times, both live and her recordings. When singing live, she tends to kind of scream/holler and hit flat notes. If you listen carefully, you can hear it.
@fluidjazz Sorry dear. Didn't mean to offend you as you are obviously a fan but .. No - I don't need auditory implants. I am VERY proficient in listening as this is MY PROFESSION ... I am also a singer who has been trained and trained others to listen, how to follow chords and progressions, singing in key, harmonizing, etc. So, again, I apologize for offending you but ... it is what it is. Have you listened to Philip Bailey's version?
@OGGilmoregirlz1 Yes I've heard and seen Bailey live and I'm a huge fan, I too am a musician, sax player and guess what? I too know how to follow chords and progressions, playing in key, harmonizing, etc. You don't have to apologise for offending me because you didn't ! I guess we can agree to disagree, its all subjective baby!
@OGGilmoregirlz1 nobody asked you for your opinion. MARY J BLIGE is still hot regardless of what you think of her. This performance may not have been the best but the message is worth more. Her notes may come out flat but she is still the truth.
@OGGilmoregirlz1 well...that's your opinion hun, but the PEOPLE don't care about all the standardized music rules, if it hits your soul, and uplifts you and you can relate, its not just music, its GOOD music,. POINT BLANK. Besides, the people who gives her grammys and such doesn't seem to agree with you lol. Just saying.
@dalaztpoet There is, but I got mine from a friend who got it from Limewire. But you better not go one there, major trouble if you get caught period. It is a good mp3 format too, very high qaulity.
I'm typing this and tears are coming down my face. This woman has the ability to make me just feel so many emotions. It's like when she sang, she was singing to all the people that have no voice to speak. Thank God for Mary J!
I hear ya VeeBee81, teasing, the piano calms down the hurt of the lead guitar and the song, which, you know Ms Blige puts down BEAUTIFULY......always.
Its the lead guitar that comes in after Mary that I just love, then it changes to piano and goes back to the lead guitar. Beautiful arrangement! Love this!
