Clapton is a blues godfather and Trucks is an astonishing slide player! I'm just a little tired of some white texan blues, like SRV, wch clearle influenced mrs. Popovic, I think it became a very annoying cliché...

maybe its my computer, but that base player is not kicking in for me, which makes it hard for her to come across. I like her, though. I like her voice, her whole vibe. I like her legs and, yes, women could and should always be a part of the blues. Janice tore it up and this girl does too. I do like the way she chops it up (in her solo's) making it irratic, sorta unpredictable. I am going out to buy her album for sure. I hope she's on I-tunes.

@MinkSnopes1 Thanks, I did check it out and you are right. I looked at another video that made me realize that Anna Popovic is a much much better guitarist than the video above indicates. I like her better as a rocker than as a blues artist but as the video at the link that follows shows, she has a lot of dimensions as a performer.

Her phrasing is apparently what she wants to say, so for her, (and me, for the most part) it is "on". Apparently, her audience agrees. I read a comment by one of my favorite musicians about another once, that he "disagreed" with the other's phrasing. It made me laugh. Who cares if someone agrees, say your piece and ignore them.

There doesn't seem to be any ideas in the solo, no theme - just a collection of ill-fitting licks forced together even though they don't go. As for the pick scraping along the stings, that's a seriously nasty tone she got out of that beautiful guitar.

Saw her open for BB King in Germany. She was way better than she is in this video. The solo is terrible here - phrasing, rhythm, it's all lumped together. Her phrasing is often "off" though, especially with those fast runs. Still like her songwriting and her band is top notch (the guy on the B3 is a monster!).

She overplays, has crap feel, off phrasing , poor rhythmic intuition, not much in the vibrato department, spews out rote arpeggios and licks like some teenager who has discovered life outside of the blues scale..

This girl has a lot of talent and a lot of potential. I think she is at a crossroads with her voice. There are two signposts: one reads Janis Joplin and the other reads Amy Winehouse. Of course she will turn out to be herself only, but to me she seems to be leaning toward the Janis road. Personally I like the sound of Amy that I hear in her voice, . . . but ultimately she will be herself. I think it will be interesting to see what that turns out to be.
