My cat does the same thing, but I know the difference between a normal dream and a nightmare with her. When she has a nightmare she'll actually wake up quickly and start crying. If I'm in the room, I can watch her looking around frantically for me while she cries. I know that's when she had a bad dream.

OMG that was hilarious!! oh and I think he might have ear mites because when you scratch their ears and the try scratching your hand away it usually means they have ear mites.. just thought I waould tell you because my cats ear puffed up when he had ear mites and we didnt get them checked by the vet so his surgery cost more than the needle would to get rid of them.. just thought that would save you from having to pay more for the surgery! NOTHING IS MEANT TO BE OFENSIVE!! lol
