  • hey everybody.............F U C K Y O U

did you know that the foo fighters last 3 albums were written about what i have discovered? dont believe me? i have proof. press "see all" and read my 2 comments i have posted below to find out why. i am not lying. regards from lake st. clair tasmania.

  • @figbat1 you have far too much time on your hands

  • @WhisperingConscience and far too many drugs in his system lol

  • @figbat1 no one cares

  • i came up with a theory that involves the book of genesis (fig leaves) buddha (sitting under the bodhi fig tree) jesus (many sayings about figs) ross horne's book (new health revolution) and science (figs are the most important source of food for fruit eating rainforest animals). i then experimented on the figs by eating mainly dried figs (same brand) for over 6 years now and found cycles which i related to the numbers in psgs 11/12 of the book of revelations. this theory has gone everywhere.

  • so far i have had eliminations at days 504, 840, 1176, 1512, 1848, 2184, and expect my 7th at day 2520. today is day 2325. i have definitely found something. i am not lying. what i have discovered has gone around the world and many songs have been written about it...the foo fighters last 3 albums..."vertigo" by U2 (my first name is phil)..coldplays last 2 albums. an elimination is a day when you experience strong flu-like symptoms and feel terrible. bad stuff is washed out of your body.

  • I wonder Johnny Young ever made his own recording.

In an interview stated it was meant to sound in the same way I am the walrus sounds

  • @lawlers69 Yes, Johnny Young made "Cara Lyn" about 1967

  • Saw Russell Morris live in a pub where he performed shortend version, also have a record put out by radio station 2SM in Sydney with this track and an interview with Russell Morris. The album was called "A Decade of Australian Hits" limited amount ever made.

  • USSIER

  • @SpazAttack1979 Doesn't sound 60s? Really?

  • Great psychodelic nugget, part one got airplay in Michigan in 1969.

  • The lyrics were written by Johnny Young, for those who don't know

  • and I was only 11 when this song came out but fortunately it got airplay and I loved it.

  • @thephantomsguest Sigh. I'm a teen, and I've loved this song since I heard it the first time. Maybe the person who dislikes this just disagrees with your tastes. They could be any age, so don't make such idiotic sweeping generalisations.

  • evry1 has sung part of this song don'y deny it

  • moaww

  • god i love 60s music, its got a different edge to modern music and can sound a little funny sometimes, but by god it fantastic!!

  • Not just an Australian classic, a true original classic song! Fantastic

  • 1969, I was 11 years old and this song blew my mind and it still brings emotion up in me after all these years.

  • I remember this song as one of the very first music videos I ever saw - back in the days of black and white. My parents had to close their eyes because of the flashing images near the end but I was right in the groove and loved it. I was just 8 years old at the time. Ooo mow mow ma mow mow!

  • Great Job! Love it ! :-) Thanks :-)

  • Jethro Tull's "Thick as a Brick" was another really long piece that got played a lot late at night on Melbourne radio. I got the station in Devonport Tas late at night. Amazing that Thick was poetry by a young kid (13 or so) recorded with music. That one and this were the perfect finish to a summer night.

  • OMG this is the original version that was on the radio everywhere in Tas that year and for the next few. Thank you for posting this one - the ending is spectacular. What a voice he has! I had a crush on Russell just from listening to his voice late at night on my radio in bed.

  • Pleazzzzz......can some body please give me the lyrics of the song

    Thanks in advance.........

  • @rockurock googlesearch The Real Thing lyrics

  • Great song.

  • great song from 1969! it was a great era.

  • I wish I could understand the man at the finale- I used to think it was Hitler, but he's speaking English- something about the "usability of the product". I think I can hear a Hitler rally, though. Can anyone help?

  • It is the Hitler Youth singing "Die Jugend Marschiert" ..... Youth on the march. Something like this was used on "The Wall" by Pink Floyd, my favorite band.

  • Thanks, mrowepat. What is your opinion of this track? It smashed pop records in Australia.

  • It is cool. I wouldn't go out and buy the record or anything but if it came on the radio I would not turn it off. It's pretty groovy.

  • The manic voice and laughter is Brian Cadd using a megaphone. He is also playing the piano part. Ref. Wickipiedia , "The Real Thing (Russel Morris song)"

  • Thanks Gordo-after 40 years of adoring this track, I finally find out!

  • Forty Years! Forty f@$%ing years, and the last few minutes and that finale still chill me to the bone! A brilliant piece of work.

  • this is an awsome song. my bro did one like this for his assment @ school once and put it on YOUTUBE but i cant find it. Russell Morris is so cool isn't he? he's a great singer, old but cool. i love the oomowmomow thing at 0:30

  • They play this at work sometimes. In full.

  • OOOOOMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGGG That is all.

  • Fantastic phasing.

  • i love this music

  • wow this took me back in time, thank you for podting.

  • ....and then there was MacCarther Park by Richard Harris. That was another long song. But The Real Thing is the best!

  • Is stevie wrights 'Evie' longer then this? I know his goes to three parts.

  • Evie parts 1,2 & 3 is almost 12 minutes.

  • Thank you so much for posting this - my old 45 had long since worn out. Brilliant song.

  • uuuu ma ma ma ma! uuu ma ma ma ma!

  • This Song and Eleanor Rigby by Zoot have always stuck in my head, but I never knew the names til now.

I can't believe it. Two top notch songs.

  • Man I love this song, sing it all the time. Five stars dude.

  • apparently this song caused controversy when it was released in the 60's...... because radio stations wouldn't play it because it was too long............. LOVE THIS SONG however

  • The original single was titled 'The Real Thing Parts I and II' and it had an 'extended groove' half way through the song to make it look like two songs (similar to what an EP looks like). I think some stations only played 'Part I'; I doubt anyone would have only played 'Part II'! It was also controversial for the German speech section, the nuclear bomb and the cost of producing the song. At the time it was the most expensive song produced in Australia.

  • @zatopecara mate totally right!!!!! but its one of those tunes that can only be played in its entirety in two parts!!!! Another example of this is the way that you cannot play peace frog into blue sunday without feeling that you have played true respect to the doors!!! yet again i agree with you and hope you experience the real thing!!!!

  • Hmmn, don't recall that one.

They used to play Hey Jude which was quite long, and they certainly played the Real Thing all the time.

The DJ's would have loved it because they could nick outside the studio for a leak or a smoke.

  • Some radio stations faded the song at about 3.30 when it was very first released, but it soon became apparent that what stood this record apart was the latter part, and for the vast majority of its lengthy run nm the Australian charts it was played in full. Its running time of 6.12 was not all that unusual for a single at the time, even if radio would have preferred nothing over 3.15.

  • This is when Aussies did music as well and better than the rest of the world. What a pity the 80s ruined the music industry...

  • I haven't heard this brilliant song since 1969 when I was in Australia. It's a real pscheldelic piece - I love it!

  • Out sold all other records in Australia in 1969.

  • that doesnt make any sense.

  • lol, it's a play on an old misconsception.,

  • First heard this song seven years ago - by Kylie, thought it was okay, but this is THE version, sorry Kylie.

  • First heard this song on the motion picture"The Dish"along with his song"The wings of an eagle."Just Brilliant!
