  • I've been watching - and really enjoying - a lot of your videos today. And I can't help but wonder how much bitumen you go through... lol.

  • I was wondering about that, too-I just found out-bitumen is another name for " asphaltum" mixed with naphtha-google printmaking supplies and look for "hard ground"-it's used in making line etchings in intaglio-

  • Still can't find bitumen. Where in the US?

  • google printmaking supplies-look for hard ground or asphaltum

  • where can i get this bitumen stuff? --like at the hardware?--also thank you very much for making these vids they really help!

  • @kimbambee Use black acrylic or oil paint and just wipe it off... u can get a similar effect, but it is more expensive...

  • YOU ARE SUCH A -GREAT!-TEACHER-!

    Thank You!!!

  • That was SOOO AWESOME!!! I'm learning so much from you. Thanks!!! What do you mix the bitumen with?...I just bought some (Bitumen of Judea) but it's a thick paste....Thks! LOVE YOUR WORK!!!!

  • Very interesting... gotta try some of that!!

    FIVE STARS!!

  • i am so happy you share you are awsome ive done many art techniques and want to share sometime love gina keep making these please im her for this and apprecate good hearted artists like you

  • A VERY cool techinique! Thanks for sharing it with us artsy people! Using bitumen in your studio must be quite, erm, intoxicating.. no? You must not even smell it after a while. It's like the ladies that play with acrylic nail stuff all day and don't even bat an eyelash, lol. Nice work!

  • Yes you need to be careful when using the bitumen...it isn't for everyone. The smell goes away after the work drys and also once u put a sealer over the top!

  • Cool. What was that brown stuff called? bichumen? What is that, a sort of wood stain?

  • Bitumen is pretty much tar. It is a petroleum-based product made up of decomposed organic compounds. It's black, thick and sticky and stinky... just like tarmac. Happy Creating!

  • All right! Stinky's good enough for me. :o)

  • Oh fun! Adding it to my "to try" list, thanks! how long does the tiling putty need to dry before you can work over it? lol Mona Lisa at the end!

  • That depends how thickly you apply the tiling putty, but usually no longer than say 3 hours but to speed up the process i use a heat gun (then it is ready in 2 minutes).

  • *smacks head* heat gun! that makes sense. Oki thank you. =) Oh and is tiling putty like grout? Thank you for answering my questions and for the video. happy creating!

  • Yep tiling putty is like grout! u can usually get it in varying grades, i like using the very fine smooth paste version....:)

  • oh awesome thank you so much!
