i want to buy a doumbek and i dont know wich one to buy .
I want to one to play with like everyday after school and take it outside to like outside events with friends and other people and play it many different places with my friends ,im not looking to become a worldwide proffessenial but i still want it to last and have a powerful sound ,
Wich one would be the best for me specificly ??? :D
I'm currently contracting in Kuwait and I absolutely love some of the music and drumming over here. Started looking around and saw this video. Awsome!! Might get one and start practicing:)
i cant believe that this is ur first time playing cause u play amazing....WoW i try so hard t make that solo and uve made this with just one try....?????Unbelieveable
I was wondering if you have a difference between style and other instrument (if it depends on the country)? If you wanted to know if someone could show me.
There are 2-3 different types of tabla /darbuk, dumbeck etc.
The indians have one they usually call tabla.
The egyptians type( which he is using) is of plastic with e chermaric shell. Also you can hear it in the sound and see that he balancing it on his lap lol.
The turkish is one of the big favorites but not fun doing the click click sound as it has more of a darker bass.
The third is a mix of these sorta lol, this alt. uses lamb/goat skin instead if plastic. Aliminum or cermic shell.
I am sure the drum is from Egypt and has a synthetic skin. The drum is made from Aluminum and is cast! Can but them in most Arab Markets in the States! other names are Duribecki or Tabla!
Great cuz i cant do it.. but from a listeing point of veiw ... dry keeping the beat longer the bass... i c u liek that taks.. but keep uhe dungs alittle long especially if u have ppl dancing to ur beat
Mattews i just love u man...if God made the drums...He made it for you man

I 've belly danced and studied darbuka since 1979. I had tried to keep up with you, but sad to say, my hips exploded!!!
You play like the gentlemen I met with Nagwa Fouad's orchestra in 1987, Cairo and like the family Maazin-Ghawazee, who played for us in Luxor, Egypt.
Keep slappin' that skin!!!!!!!!!!
