I have a big linden tree growing in my front yard. Whenever I gaze up into its branches and smell its fragrance, I am reminded of this Lied.
One of these days I should cut a 'liebes Wort' into its bark. ;)

I grew up with a Linden Tree in my front yard, its poetic beauty is captured in the music well. Haunting with grace and majesty.

The wind that of the introduction is not a winter wind but the wind of summer, the rustling is a symbol of memory. (Charles Rosen).

The art of lieder is heard in this clip. Beautiful voice, length of line, great breath control, no over exagerration of meaning, great pianist. DFD and lieder at their best!
