AMD should stop with the drierying down the tech ladder with Intel and go straight to like 4nm processing. yes it will take maybe twice as long to design, but as soon as it goes into production, AMD will then have everyone buying their 4nm stuff while intel like 3 years later is only on 16nm. in the meantime they can create even more advanced technologies. a time investment like this could well leave intel permenantly in the dust. the games industry will see AMD as the standard and forget Intel
@miestarSqils Thats what 3DFX did and they died. If you understand buisness, then you need to understand that technolgical advancements equal sheer amounts of money! To go down to 4NM would require new laser designs, lithography techniques and literaly millions and millions of dollars.
@FOGoticus i7-980X has 6 cores and 12 threads. i7-930 has 4 cores and 8 threads.. Intel just made it possible to stream data using light.. i8 is said to have 8 cores and 16 threads. But, i think i8 (if it will be called i8) will feuture something way more powerful than 8 cores....
@NineLivesProductions C3 would represent the revision of the CPU. Revision updates usually sort out stability issues or add new features (like energy efficency for exampe).
@lupuradu Lol its a bit late, I said that a year ago... I ended up getting the C3. Too bad phenoms are gonna be useless when the bulldozer line debuts.
Oh, just so you know. Ive stuck with Radeon Cards. They were in the early days more Bang for your Buck. TNT 2 ultra was a: cheap and b: FAST (for its day). I have had 1 NVidia card since then, and I only bought it because it said it was better than the comparable Radeon card (which I had at the time). In fact when I bought it and tested it on the same game it was slower. Ive never bought Nvidia since, though I did buy NVidia chipset MBs . They were awesome.
The new Phenom II X6 looks....SHINY! Me want one. I have a 2 year old Intel E6600, never overclocked, cos it never needed to be. I bought a Q9400 last month and it arrived as an 'Interim' upgrade prior to an i7 move, but it was a factory faulty unit so went back. From my K8 200 (cheap, but slower than P200) to my Durron 700, then Athlon 1Ghz, then an Athlon 3000+. then my 3700+. All except the K8 200 beet ANY comparable Intel chip. Now 6 core's are affordable (no HT rubbish!) - ME WANTS ONE!
im curious as to why they arent catching up to Intel's six core processor yet? why would they make a 45nm processor instead of a 32nm like Intel. it confuses me. but i still LOVE AMD products and support AMD.
@xCRIMEx707 Bcuz if They make 32nm process cpu it will cost more and because they want it to fit on there old am3 boards plus 45nm is really a difference from 32nm
I'm pretty curious how it will perform compared to i7 quad-cores. Phenom II 1090T Black Edition could kick ass as it will be able of big overclocking.
@clubpenguin1help actually there are quad core and six core versions, hence why he specified the quad core I7, the six core I& unfortunately destroys the x6,
when is going to release? will it support triple channel memory? will it have technology similar to hyper threading? can some one answer me in my inbox?
i have q6600 atm, i skipp i7, now i planning to go x6, and i dont care i7 and intel 6 core is blody expensive, and i use it maybe 50% of real potential
It's planned for the bulldozer fusion core, but it's a waste, it's better to run on real cores then on emulated cores.
Theres little point in hyper threading as software devs are too lazy to write multi threaded code, proof is every company bitching about video game consoles where you are using a combined multi core cpu gpu hybrid or BeOS which forced software devs to make all apps threaded to make the most out of multi cpu systems of the time.
@psp785 still perform better in dumb ass everyday programs that intel pays to take advantage of HT *fake cores*!! threads fail compared to physical cores....
intel still fail cuz amd was the first to 6 corer with their opteron and now they have a 12 core *physical core opteron* intel can't come close! look up opteron 6100
keep telling yourself that I wonder why intel lower cpus still beat amd's and if ht works for performance how is that a bad thing u idiot... operon is for servers anyways that's like me bringing up the i9's and xeons plus I wasn't even bring up the i7 extremes the 980 would kill anything amd has. your stupid if you think amd has better performance overall what they have is better price to performance ratio
true but that's why intel has the i5 and i3's and the intel i7 920 is also a good price i'm not bias in anyway I own both cpus from both but in performance intel wins
Calm down people Bulldozer is just around the corner with 128bit cores that act as two 64bit cores with up to "8" cores total for home, much lower TDP, nasty FPU, new memory controller, and its on "HT", our day will come. Besides Thuban has a few fricks up its sleeve to hold us over till then.
Their kicking ass and taking names in the video card market now with the 5870 and 5890 in direct x 11 games. They can now get back to the cpu R&D and bring a processor that can compete against current intel processors. For gaming computer people they don't give a shit about the processor as long as it can keep up feeding instrtuctions to the GPU"S they don't care.
@thegreyvingian selling 300 dollar cpu's you wanna go blow 1k, go for it but i like their methodology and fusion will quietly take the performance crown in 2011 that is if there is an intel after the fcc gets done with them

@Daxter609 no, just AM3 it will support. It cannot support AM2+ and AM2. and 890FX is am3, which is backward compatible with am3r2 (which i heard is basically am3+)

my guesses it..... with liquid cooling you will beable to get 4.2Ghz on the best X6!
so you will have 2 extra cores and higher clock speed, more Level 3 cache ( 9 MBs )
and it will be 1/4 of the Price of i7's

@palmolive25 Nah, it would be shitty.
Intel, is costing a lot. Your games and applications might just use 4 threads, and the other 4 might just stay idle all the time.

Also Intel 980-X cpu costs less than my 1090T configuration.
