I will give you all that Roger is a great song writer and has a good head for music theory. However, he can't sing for shi*t and he is not a very good musician.

Pink Floyd, as an entity, is one of the all-time greatest contributors to music and showmanship for musicians of any genre.

Yeah, Gilmour's singing along with the solo is definetely just to piss Roger off after he must have insisted to sing a verse of this. You can see by Waters' expression that it works, haha. Ironically, the harmony that they create in the third verse is still better than either of them sounds by themselves.

Not that he going anywhere anytime soon, but we should just appreciate his music and the band Pink Floyd is their own catorgorie there not just another band , when put back together on stage it ignites the start of Pink Floyd all over again. David Gilmour sings with so much emotion and experience from memories in his voice. Now that hes older it is such an emotional speechless thought as you watch them know what seemed like yesterday they were so young and now seeing him age like wine the older he gets the better he is. Never thinking about how long he would be with us but legends around his time are dead we are so blessed to have them and there even better then before.

Its just seeing someone like get older. It breaks my heart.

The main riff came to David Gilmour while playing his acoustic guitar in Abbey Road Studios. Gilmour then demonstrated the riff to Waters, who was impressed. They collaborated to complete the song, as Waters had already written some lyrics. In 2004, the song was ranked #316 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

If there was no Gilmour in Pink Floyd,there wouldn't be any beautiful songs like "Wish You Were Here"created.

Not a big fan of a Barrettless Floyd but super sweet of Roger to mention his old pal Syd here...to me the saddest thing about Syd is that all of his problems separated him from his old chums especially Dave, probably his best friend in the world...i did read somewhere that Dave was on the verge of going to see Syd, but he so sadly left us...maybe it was for the best, who knows? Lovely tune.

David Gilmour is an exemplary musician. His timing, his tone, his simple authority on stage with regards to the music are second to none. I saw Pink Floyd's Pulse tour in 1994 (unfortunately without Waters) and it was a a PURE example of production perfection. Waters is a great lyricist and offers some musical cues too, and Gilmour is a great musician and offers his own lyrical cues that cannot be forgotten. I only wish to see both together again as their artistic union is unparalleled.

Actually, after all those years of Gilmour asking Waters to rejoin and tryng to make up, happening in the late eighties before the release of Momentary Lapse of Reason and again in the mid-1990s before Division Bell, it is ACTUALLY David Gilmour who doesn't want to do it again.

And I really don't blame him actually. He has a new DVD out in Sept. and is happy. Why would anyone trade their happiness for working with Waters?
