  • shogun? we call it pajero :)

  • had a 1989 RR. 2 words - Unreliable Tank

  • I want those wheels for my Dodge Raider!

  • The Shogun was never in the same league as the RR and it still isn't! What it was, especially back then, is a much more reliable car. I know which one I'ld buy used today.

Also, 20 mpg and just under 100 mph for the Shogun. Today's diesel, which is much heavier, safer and better equipped does mid 20's and can top nudge 110 mph. Progress? I'ld say so.

  • did the chuck orris wannabe just say "mitsubutshi" WTF??

  • @anikadamali mitsubooshi

  • How it's time to see how fast the Mitsubishi with horse trailer, will go around our track.

  • then 3 years later the hummer h1 came and kicked the range rovers ass in terms of off road ability

  • @chaseychase812 Don't be silly.

  • @chaseychase812 You are just too ignorant for me to care. I pitty you

  • @alienkaso it was a joke i lover range rovers dont try me ok bro

  • @chaseychase812 ahah try you? so i guess you are american? BIG UPS!!! good for you.

  • Why oh why the Range Rover have gone so bad these days... I mean TATA Evoque WTF ?

  • had them both, 89 rr and 92 shogun both good cars but rr has that extra bit of something .

  • @1superocky1 yes,class.The Mitsubishi never had that.

  • Mitsubishi isnt a luxury car, one of my friends actually owns one. Even back then RR was the luxury car, Mitsu looks rather bland inside.

  • I love cars from the eighties - make mine a Range Rover V8 Vogue - who cares about the fuel consumption if you enjoy the car?

  • Did they bring the Shogun to America? I've never heard of it...

  • You'd think that if you were working as a motoring journalist / presenter, you would learn how to pronounce Mitsubishi properly!

  • G wagen would walk on a Range Rover or Shogun.

  • I have a pristine 66,000 mile 1991 NAS RRC and an equally nice 155,000 1989 FJ62... Its amazing how different the two vehicles are.

  • "the ultimate in performance, which the ranger rover will deliver"

Why would you buy anything else?

  • I have worked a lot on both Range Rovers and Mitsubishi Shoguns. I own 2 Range Rover Classics (1988 & 1993) and no Mitsubishis..... You can keep your Foreign pretenders!. Range Rover Rules.

  • wow 2:38 Did he just say Gymkhana? Ken Block is a total hack then

  • @blkmgk16 He sure did,but it was to do with a horse gymkhana.

  • the 1982-1991 Mitsubishi Pajero was assembled in

    Sakahogi, Gifu, Japan

  • the best one out of the lot is that series two land rover. and i bet its stil around. and i bet the rest have been scraped buy now

  • An interesting aside, the Shogun is marketed outside Europe as the Pajero, which I'm led to believe is Spanish slang for w@nker...lol

  • You Brits still don't understand SUVs or as you call them, 4x4s, They aren't for off-roading anymore, they are used as the family hauler

  • had both LR DISCO & DIFFENDER,,SHOGUN/PAJERO & TOYOTA LANDCRUISER newish & old,,,,,& in my opinion the landrover's are better off road but the jap stuff are better for every day use! so on the basis that my shogun can do both with out effort i choose the jap stuff everytime also landrover root for fun!!!

  • ahhh..that's not mitsobushi..

  • Range rover looks better

  • lol that inclinometer is the same as the 03 L200 I had

    terrible cars to be honest

  • That Mitsubishi looks like an Isuzu Trooper twin.

  • 2:13 Chuck Norris driving a SUV

  • Definitely the Mitsubishi.

  • chuck norris roadtested for top gear ??

  • i will choose the shogun

  • Shogun FTW!

  • Er, who wouldn't take a G-Class over a Ranger Rover? Any day!

  • @terribrad24 Me, for one. Horrible looking things.

  • mitsubushi?

  • Comment removed

  • A typical Top Gear 4wd review. How can you compare 4wds when you dont even bother to take them offroad??

    Ill stick to my Landcruiser

  • haha i have this on video 8.

  • mistoooobooshie

  • Alternator to warn you if your shogun is about to fall over? yeah like you wouldnt notice the car about to fall over

  • @TheCloudsThunder your alternator charges your battery The Altimeter may tell you what angle you're leaning at though...

  • Mitsabooshi Shogan.

  • either way id rather have a jeep. they're cheaper and better.

  • the range rover and the mitsubishi look almost the same

  • Chuck NORRIS!

  • Mitsabooshi!

    Range Rover for the win!

  • I knew a Japanese girl named Mitsu... and yeah she was really bushy

  • "sophisticated car stereo"

i wonder what he meant by that lol

maybe he meant it was STEREO oooooh

i love these old test, remind me of simpler ages, when u didnt need a 10inch tft monitor, or a 35speaker hi-fi dolby digital entertainment unit as standards

  • I would buy a t4r first. Toyota 4Runner. I say its the all around best offroad truck. Well, the Land Cruiser first. But I would buy a 4Runner first. The Range Rover wont last but 50,000 miles if your lucky. The mitsubishi is just ugly. So, I would buy the t4r first.

  • @Motorfordtoyota The 4 runner of the 90's wasn't exactly a svelt beauty either, the G-wagon probably is the most durable and best built of all of them, too bad you pay the price for it. The Nissan Patrol would be my choice, it wasn't available in the US so you've probably never even heard of it but it has better looks and also great off-road performance for a fraction of the price.

  • @jml8841 Ahh, Its better than anything in America, better than the explorer, blazer, rodeo, cherokee, and that shitty mitsubishi SUV that should have never been put in production for Amercia. Well, I changed my mind, I would rather have a Land Cruiser, cause it has awsome offroad abilitys, Well, I would have the 4runner and the Land Cruiser! Cool. LOYALTOYOTA!!!

  • @Motorfordtoyota Sorry to prove you wrong, but my Range (1972 model) has run some 350 000 miles and counting... and it eats Toyboats for breakfast ;)

plus it looks good, unlike the Land Cruiser. However, that's only my personal opinion. In the nineties, the new vehicle I would have bought would've been a Discovery. A 200tdi (2,5 litre turbodiesel) version. A friend of mine has run well over 300 000 miles with his. And we use them frequently off-road ;)

  • @Motorfordtoyota My fathers 1995 180K Range Rover thats in everyday off road use and never misses a beat may disagree with your 50K belief.

  • @Motorfordtoyota

t4r? wtf that is the shittest name ive ever heard! i woulnd even buy think of branding something t4r? it sounds like a cheap Japanese leaf sprung 2x4 to me.... oh wait it is.

  • @TheCloudsThunder Its amazing how ignorit you people are. I have a toyota 4runner. It is made buy the people who make the best 4x4s. The 4runner is a 4x4, it uses leaf springs because they are best with towing and offroading. My 4runner has a comfortable ride never the less. And that 3 litre v6 is the most reliable engine I have seen in the past 20 years next to GMs 3.1 mpfi and 3800 series II v6s. My 4runner could go far longer than any Land rover I have ever seen.

  • @Motorfordtoyota yeah... even Richard Hammond and James May admitted the rang rover classic was totally unreliable

  • chuck norris

  • He just called the G-Class a pretender? says mitsubuushi, this guy's a dweeb, doesn't know anything at all.

  • @Mcmerc01 That's a 1989 video and that's a W461basically a military version it had no luxuries at all, unlike the W463 or the modern version we have now.

  • pajeros are actually rubbish off road lacking in clearance with independant suspension at the front and very thick antiroll bars front and back makes its axle articulation terrible aswell although they are cheap nowadays and very reliable

  • @godzillaisnuclea123 actually i have a 1990 montero and it does very well off road

  • @subiemon we took a shogun v6 short wheelbase and a landrover discovery that was bought for 300 quid to an offroad site and the disco far outperformed the shogun live axles all round coil springs and no antirollbars is what you want plus the landy is more comfortable but on road the shogun wins for an offroader they corner quite well

  • 'In love with the image of vehicles like this'. LOL.

  • He pronounces Sho-gun like zhoyun

  • for a car person im surprised he cant say mitsubishi properly

  • Landcruiser 4 ever!

  • G-wagen a pretender?! Honestly, it's not as popular or refined as a Range Rover, but it is more rugged like a leather-bound H1, more exclusive than an RR, and has a more prestige image. But for everyday livability, the Range Rover is uncanny, and better than the G.

  • shogun=pajero

  • also = montero

  • ...a wery good review...:D

  • "Mitsabooshi" haha

  • Is that chuck norris btw.?

  • Mitsubushi showgun! Rubbish... Thank god they went more comedy

  • inclinometer?! never heard of a modern car being equipped with such thing.

    1+ for the classic

  • They're very popular in South American Land Cruisers

  • @reb00table the new shogun has an inclinometer too i think

  • 0:16 he said Mitsubuushi...AHAH =D

  • @rtelmo01 uumm that is a mitsubishi

  • @flight2k5 It's how he said it.

    "Mitsuubuuushi"

  • the classic is the old school shape which i like the best i have a 1992 model

  • i love the Range Rover classic!

  • @riky95oo best offroader ever build
