  • These elephants deserve a better life, and the right to keep their dignity. This is no life for elephants, being abused, beaten, and trained, to perform painful tricks and run around the streets wearing ridiculous costumes. If you wouldn't like to be chained, beaten, laughed at, forced to perform silly tricks, and be shipped around all of the time, why do they have to, and just for human entertainment?

  • The bad energy must have been felt by the elephants. Yelling isn't a happy thing to them.

  • The asswipes yelling at the procession who think the end justifies the means are abusive. This self-righteous mob's humiliation factor is useless. I'm an animal activist, but don't use extremism or terrorism to make my point. These protesters miss the point - their shouting scares the elephants. If the welfare of the elephants is of primary importance, why scare the crap out of them when the animals are walking down a NYC street at night? Try boycotting - much more effective than bullying.

  • I think that the yelling is not directed toward the elephants, but rather the public who would become curious on why the circus is so controversial. Then they would act upon that curiosity and hopefully research it themselves. If I saw the circus right across from me, I definitely would not just stand there. Using your voice for the voiceless is the key to activism.

  • what's so abusive about this? :S

  • Elephants dont belong on the streets in costumes...wtf...parading down the streets with busy noises, flashing lights and noise... this is so unnatural and against their wild needs!!

God people are so friggin blind, how about we take you off the computer away from your mum and dad and stick you in a circus..happy now...dance monkey dance!!!

Lol..for real, try learning something and seeing just how cruel circuses are..wild animals belong in the wild, not for our enjoyment, i am not with peta

  • This video should be taken down. I can't believe a worldclass city like NY is still promoting an old form of entertainment in the 21st Century. Everyone knows Ringling Circus beats the crap out of their animals and people in NY of all places thinks it's ok. Go to Montreals Cirque de Soleil if you still have any class left.

  • There are two kinds of people in the world: those who are still small-minded and insensitive enough to go to circuses and actually be entertained by nonhuman animals performing degrading, unnatural acts while closing their minds to the cruelty that goes on behind the scenes; and those of us who would like nothing more than to see all circus animals released to rehab and rescue centers and laws passed to ban the use of our fellow beings as entertainment in any form. Which are you?

  • what a sad world we live in when you can type in circus abuse and watch hundreds of videos of torture and abuse beyond words can say, and then you have people who think everything is ok...Well its not,and these ele's do snap after yrs of torture...Type in TYKE..you'll see how she snapped. But continue to be blind..

  • i feel so horrible for these epoor elephants, more people need to fight this abuse!!

  • Stupid peta, the only thing they're doing here is spoiling the enjoyment of the people who came to watch the show.

  • And yelling in angry voices? That isn't cruel. Come on. If you respect them confine your protest to peaceful silence. Also, elephants eyes are moisturized for their comfort, they are not crying. Shame on You PETA!

  • Never mind the circus. YOUR MONEY is supporting the slaving of animals for the enjoyment of humans when you pay to go see this nonsense. If you don't pay, these retards will stop using animals in their freak shows.

  • YOUR MONEY is helping the animals, its paying for their feed, and vet bills. with out the animals would have no chance. what is the difference between training a circus animal of any variety and a pet?

  • I don't hit my dog with a wip or use food depravation to teach him the stupid tricks you go to the circus and applaud -like the total idiot that you are-. THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE.

  • I don't know much about training animals but I have seen a couple circuses and the animals never looked skinny, they would if they were starved, and the tricks they do seem like they would have have to be in top health, not starving. And I don't remember seeing them use whips on animals they used the whips to point out where to go. Either way people with a cause regardless of the view should be applauded for having an opinion.

  • PETA and the Humane Society have more than plenty of evidence of animals being abused and exploited for such cheap and pointless entertainment. You can try to deny it all you want but the truth is coming out. More people are supporting PETA than ever before and animal exploitation will be something of the past whether you will it or not!

  • animal liberationist are still the minority in this country. a poll was done and 99% of the people of the 10,000 surveyed wanted exotic animals in circuses..

  • Can you give me a source and link to that poll. Animal rights is one of the most popular issue with my generation. Millions are becoming vegans.

  • The source came from a brochure published by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. I'm not aware if it is online or not, if you send me a private message with your address, I would be more than willingy to send you a copy. BTW What generation are you? I know in my generation some people are becoming vegans, mostly vegitarians though, and the most who do it, they don't stick with it. I myself don't eat meat. But I wouldn't say millons are doing it.

  • I'm actually 16. Tons of other teens are going vegetarian/vegan. I have spoken to so many at different concerts. I think its becoming so popular because so many bands support peta and the truth about the meat industry is coming out. I believe in the future animal rights will become a major issue.

  • "animalwelfare" you are so full of disinformation, wrong facts and flat-out falshoods I wouldn't be surprised if you were actually paid by Ringling Bros. to spread lies.

  • I like steak.

  • ITS A FUCKING CIRCUS PEOPLE... THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS IN A FUCKING CIRCUS... its not a political crime or issue

  • Data suggests that elephants are not stressed when they travel and find the life "quite acceptable," and that working elephants are in better physical condition, have more muscle tone, greater stamina and less excess fat than their sedentary counterparts. (From testimony of Deborah Olson, representing the Indianapolis Zoo, Elephant Manager's Association and International Elephant Foundation, before the House subcommittee hearing on HR2929.)

  • Of course somebody that works for a zoo is going to say that. How about you a watch a video taken from undercover investigations, where elephants are beaten and electocuted. Animals should not be exploited for stupid entertainment.

  • first of all the last time i checked 99% of americans considered zoos the most knowledgeable about exotic animals since they have actual degrees in it, unlike peta who's most of their actvists have never spent a day with an exotic animal.

  • further more, every industry has their bad apples, those bad apples have been video taped, and used to sterotype all trainers. the circus industry fires abusive trainers which is what happened to carol buckley who is has unleashed her tour of revenge on the industry.

  • There has been countless videos. What are we supose to do sit back and let the problem continue. Also aniamls aren't toys or playthings. They aren't objects. They are living beings who deserve to live a natural life. There is no no excuse for exploitation of life, no matter what form. This is slavery. Bottom line its unnatural.

  • NBC News concluded that 95% of the videos that report circus abuse came from the 2 same shows. That leaves dozens others without any for of documented abuse. Several circuses were investigaged such as Carson & Barnes Circus by local animal welfare groups and spcas as well as the media and found no forms of cruelty.

The animals enjoy performing. If the elephants don't get to perform a day, they do the act themselves in the backyard. Which is a documented fact.

  • Can you give me a link to that source.

Also if the circus industry has nothing to hide then why do we need undercover investigations. Why has there been undercover investigations? What do they really have to hide? Also Mercy for Animals and the HSUS both agree with PETA on not using animals for entertainment. I think the animals enjoy having a natural and free life. Not being forced to perform stupid acts for cheap entertainment.

  • Hello, I don't really know much about PETA or Circuses, but I am very familiar with law enforcement, and using undercover agents is a VERY standard method, regardless of the complaint, there has been cases I know that undercover agents were even sent into all girl private and even catholic schools.

  • Let me ask you this, if the circus industry has "something to hide" why have numerous circuses invited animal rights groups to inspect the shows including peta protesters, and they turn it down. If there was cruelty this would the prime time for the animal rights activists to take down the industry.

  • The shows have been inspected. Theres video footage of animals being abused. Its not just PETA claiming it to be cruel, even the HSUS has spoken out against circuses. Let me ask you this. Why have former circus employees joined PETA and campaigned against circuses. I don't know how much evidence you need.

  • your right shows have been inspected and according to several animal groups including SPCA's there were no signs of cruelty at the shows. every industry has there bad apples, thats who they have footage of and they get weeded out, little do people know that petas beloved Carol Buckle had one of the worst reputations in the circus industry for abuse

  • Have you ever observed elephants in nature? They don't act this way. This isn't normal for animal to be performing in such a way. If the animal had a choice would he/she want a life in captivity or in nature? No animal should have to endure the treatment as a mere object. The least they deserve is a life nature entended.

  • you cant make an elephant do something it doesnt want to do, they will kill you. use common sense. obviously you have never seen trainers interact with the animals, they dont see them as objects. there isnt a choice the animals would die in the wild. its a proved fact that animals do better in circuses than zoos, so their vital for the existance of some of the species

  • Video taken during a PETA undercover investigation of Carson & Barnes Circus revealed Carson & Barnes' animal care director, Tim Frisco, viciously attacking, yelling and cursing at, and shocking endangered Asian elephants. Frisco instructed other elephant trainers to beat the elephants with a bullhook as hard as they could and to sink the sharp metal bullhook into the animals' flesh and twist it back and forth until they screamed in pain.

  • Please send me a link to this video. The video I saw never once did Tim Frisco ever attack the elephant. Thanks!

  • I would also like a link for this video because there version I saw I also never saw him once beat the elephant. Furthmore a bullhook is not sharp. They are dull. They are in the shape of a hook to mimick an elephant gripping eachother with the cupping of their trunk.

  • "Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." -Albert Einstein

  • So that quote pretty much says to embrace all living creatures NOT let's get them all out of human hands which is what PETA is trying. Have you ever wondered why there isn't a single major animal organization that support PETA, not even American Veterinary Medical Association.

  • Forcring animals to perform stupid acts and depriving them from a natural home is not embracing nature but exploiting it. There's a clear difference. Animals are not objects or playthings. They are all life, and desrve a life that nature entended it to have. You shouldn't have to amuse yourself by takining one's freedom.

  • The animals enjoy performing. Go and spend sometime with them sometime and you'll realize that. According to a study done by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals "Circus animals enjoy longer, more productive, lives and suffer less from ilness than race horses, other trained and performing animals, and animals in the wild."

  • I second that peta trampling. I know Ringling has had issues, but these elephants looked really healthy. You can tell by their gait, their stance, even their facial features. Why wouldn't peta do something productive instead of harrassing one parade, anyway? Protests like this are so ineffective.

  • Pity the elephants didn't trample some of those peta losers

  • thank god for peta and other circus protesters

  • those poor animals yaya for PETA!!!!

  • Sorry about that they are right that is cruel my bro got on my youtube account.

    ;l

  • I just want to get a baseball and go crazy on the peta people

    :P

  • great I love it when peoplw stand up for those who can't

  • Those poor elephants. I'm going to be filming something of the sort soon. We are going to be at the Shrine Circus, and I'm bringing my video camera. I'll post when I can.

  • great capture of the event
