What do you think about TrapGunner? Do you think that game should be remade or have a sequel? I found it unique during it's time with how you plant traps and have strategy to kill your opponents and the characters are very sympathetic (except Abdoll) and when you play each character, you there side of the story.
Trap Gunner was a great game. I think Atlus or Konami (companies who published it in different regions) needs to get on the ball and atleast HD it up, if they don't want to make another game.
I was waiting for him to say Tobal 2 and Racing Lagoon but I guess he never played those. And I'm guessing he never played Front Mission 5 because that never came here either. But I played Tobal 2 & Front Mission 5 in ENGLISH (with translation patch) thank god.
Well I can't mention EVERY game they needed to remake. But the reason I didn't mention Front Mission was they were making another one at the time. (That stupid Armored Core clone)
I never got why people keep bitching for an FF7 remake. I won't go into the "that would be financial suicide" explanation again but rather just ask "Why? Why do we need an FF7 remake?".
So basically, I agree with you, the game is awesome just the way it is, it's already been re-released for the PS3 and PSP so people can play it today and that is all we really need.
dam im a white man and i think just like black men eventstatus you rock man what pisses me off tho is games like super mario bros for nintendo wii is still at 60 bucks this game should have only been 20 to 25 from the start
So...we don't like video game movies by 3rd pty bcos they ruined the original title and we also don't like the ones by the original creator bcos it satisfied the fans...
Isn't the goal of entertainment biz is to...u know...satisfy the fans? Eventstatus has been making videos about this for weeks.
I would like a remake of FF7...but I want first is a remake of FF5 and FF6 and what the fuck happened to FF8 and FF9? Did Enix (not square cause *shudders* square would never had produced FFXIV.it was money horny Enix!) forget about how ff8 was commercial sucess?and 9 is well do for a remake...last year! it was it's 10th aniversery. oh well I want a remake of super mario rpg, Xenosagas, and crono trigger damn it I want more of that trigger!
Any remake with Kefka is a good thing! I loved FF8 and FF9, I felt they stepped out of the shadow of FF7 in a good way. Super Mario RPG is underrated. Chrono Trigger I don't think we'll see a remake, unless it comes out for portable. I wish they would bring Secret of Mana to PSN with 3 player online co-op.
It would be fun, I'd play it even if they didn't upgrade the graphics. But if they wanted to, just cell shade/HD it. It doesn't need dramatic cut scenes, etc.
Xenogears does not need a sequal! It needs a remake. A lot of sections were rushed later in the game (the story book sections). I love Parasite Eve 1 AND 2.
Final Fantasy VII DOESN'T need to be remade. That game is so milked to death with shitty ass movies like Advent Children.
I didn't like PE2 because they went the RE style, when PE1's gameplay was different and still fun. I agree, FFVII doesn't need a remake, but even I know if it happen, it would sell like hotcakes. I liked the Advent Children movie, because it gives closure to the story. A lot of it was fan service though. And yes, Square was better in the 90's, because they had so many titles and didn't rely heavily on FF.
@zaviusfirerave you must have low expectations for films. Just because the movie had flashy fights scenes and everyone's favourite characters from the game doesn't mean it is good. The story is horrible, the original game needed no continuation. The whole film is just made as pointless fanservice for all the people like wack off to thoughts of Cloud and Sephiroth fighting all night. Tons of characters are pointless and add nothing but fanservice. the list goes on.
@foottothenuts What? But wasn't the ending of the game was clearly hanging? We even get a new soundtrack that everyone liked: "Cloud Smiles" and the piano version of the battle theme. I agree that there wasn't much story, but wasn't the movie meant to be an action genre in the first place?
But I guess you're right about me having low expectations for films. I liked the Resident Evil movies so much that I only realized that all the fans were hating it just today!
@foottothenuts Oh! And also One Winged Angel Advent version!
And also...isn't fan-service good? I wouldn't refute anyone who said that this is just a means of milking the title, but just because it's a "milkage" doesn't mean that it can't be a good one. Hey, I don't mind anyone milking my money as long as they give me good stuff!
@zaviusfirerave All the characters from the game show up for no reason, some have only one or two lines, or show up only for that horrible fight scene with the behemoth. Cloud has zero personality. The dialogue is horrible. Even the cinematography during the fight scenes was horrible, with camera angels changing all over the place and sometimes being zoomed in to close to see anything in the action. The people that like it are the ones that buy anything with FFVII stamped on it.
...I don't know what to say...I thought Cloud was supposed to have zero personality and the camera angle was intentionally made that outrageous.
Everyone I know loved it. Every online review I see gave it a good score. But you just hate every single thing about the movie because it has FFVII stamped on it?
@zaviusfirerave When I looked at online reviews they all gave it average scores. The movie has nothing going for it, unless one is a shallow fan that cums over anything with Cloud fighting Sephiroth in it. The movie was made just so old fans could see all their favourite characters returning and doing cool thing (or nothing at all in the case of Yuffie, Red XIII, and a couple others), regardless of whether the film is actually good or not.
The best video game movie ever is Street Fighter II.
@foottothenuts Advent Children is basically a series of pointless scenes involving characters from the old game doing "cool" things and making references to the past game for no reason. The film tries to fit every character in, and ends up with a bunch of them being there for no reason, other than to satisfy the fans of said character. All of this is brought together by an inane pointless story that is hardly an excuse to see fight scenes.
Okay im sorry that im going threw all your old videos and commenting on them but I'm just getting up to speed ( you can tell I'm a new subscriber). now for what my comment is about 3:22 " puts "Chrono cross down" Trigger is the one they need to remake this because I will not forgive them for what square did to there fans... Look up Chrono Trigger Resurrection these guys put there heart into this fan remake and what did square do? They stopped them personally so trigger it is.
Just read about it, why would square slap a cease-and-desist order on a non-profit, fan made game? That sounds quite petty from square, and yes these guys put their heart into it. Game looked really damn good too.
Final Fantasy xiii..did not love it and good game on it own,however as a Final Fantasy game..it was HORRIBLE....they approved on nothing.NOTHING AT ALL...battle system..nope..summoning..hmmm okay i guess,dialog..depending on how your look at it.the only thing that stuck out in my mind was graphics and graphics are not the whole game.also the level system got on my nerves. i have no seen a revolutionary FF game since ten.
nobody can be original and more importantly the only thing that seems to matter is "sales"..so sad...customer's satisfaction is no longer a factor,but heck what why does that matter if you could get your product to sell right?
Yeah, there's no hiding anymore these days what the agenda is for these games. Wasn't always like that, but now you have these companies that have so much ego, they'll tell you straight out what they think of you. And yes, it seems like the customer has come last.
man i really miss the days when games had variety,i could go from playing resident evil to chrono cross or maybe if i did not feel like playing that rpg game i could play devil may cry,final fantasy(7-10)...i could play street fighter,megaman,mvc2 and the list could go on forever but unfortunately now companies to simulate other companies sales but recycling other stories,gameplay, art style. for example Sony's and Microsoft 's pathetic attempt to capture the wii family friendly games.
I agree, you could switch games and play hours on end not realizing you spent so much time playing. These days you realize it so much more, because it all feels the same. I think it comes down to features at this point. The game with the best features grab more sales.
I'm happy that Xenogears is coming to PSN, and hopefully they'll revisit. Though they pissed me off with 3rd Birthday. Was that shower scene really necessary? The clothes thing? Really, guys? Sex sells exclusively now, not gameplay or you know, story?
And the Chrono series just needs to be revisited real bad. Since they ported CT to DS, I would hope they'd do something. A sequel would be fabulous... Heck, if they want to make a loosely connected title and call it a 'reboot', great!
The 3rd birthday I feel won't live up to the hype (as much as I want it to) Noticed they also had a shower scene in PE2 a well? As far as I'm concerned, just put Aya back in her jeans, t-shirt and leather jacket. I agree the Chrono series needs a jump start VERY badly. There's no way that series should have been away so long. Xenogears coming to PSN is a good thing, many people who haven't had the chance to play it yet, can now get that experience.
@EventStatus I know they wanted to include the shower scene because of PE2's, and a shower scene on its own isn't bad, but when it's just there to add extra fanservice, they're not doing the game favors. Agreed (though I will admit, the maid outfit + Maaya Sakamoto voicing is kinda cute...). Definitely. Since they're having such a tough time with sales of certain titles and at least admitting to their mistakes, I'm hoping they'll listen a little more to what the fans want.
Yeah, it's complete fanservice at this point. And I think if they did listen to the fans more often, they wouldn't be in the hole they're in now. Many fans for years have been asking for continuations to these titles, yet square pushed the FF flagship instead of spreading them out with balance. It's almost as if this company has come full circle. FF was almost their last game, then they became a power in the industry. They almost went broke again with FF:TSW, bounced back, now this.
I'm so depressed at how Xenogears was going to be this awesome magnum opus, but the team literally ran out of money halfway through development and had to rush the second disk...
Also, an FF7 remake, it is my personal theory, would single-handedly end the recession we're in just by the insane amount of money that would be spent purchasing the game AND PS3s.
I'm a massive XBox fanboy, but even I would shell out the cash to buy a PS3 if it meant I'd get to play the FF7 remake.
With Xenogears, I just wished a sequel focusing on the land dwellers. I wanted to see in detail after the way it ended how and if (if you know what I mean) life went on for them. I'm against an FF7 Remake, but it doesn't mean I wouldn't give it a chance. As long as it's only a graphical overhaul and not mess with the story (change or edit parts out) I'm sure it would sell like hotcakes without question.
I think an FF7 remake would basically be, like you said, a graphics overhaul with maybe some tweaks to the story.
Obviously, the original canon needs some editing to accommodate the retcons Square's done to the 7 canon over the years, like the characters of Genesis and Angeal, ect...
Possibly also some expansions on backstories, like Cloud's father's mysterious absence, and maybe some extra sidequests for flavor and additional games at the Saucer...
I would actually like for Square to involve the crisis core story into the FF7 remake, if it happens. Extra Sidequests and Saucer games are always cool. And yeah, knowing more backstory between even Tifa and Cloud would be nice. FF7 has so many ways they could take the story, the possibilities would span out to 4 more games.
I was never able to finish Xenogears, but I am aware of the twists and turns of the story, BTW.
I also agree that there needs to be an overhaul of Xenogears. Personally, it needs the funding it needed in the first place to be the opus that it should have been and was, in a lot of ways.
A proper sequel, too, would also help smooth out a lot of the ambiguity of the ending...
More funding would be good, but the way square is losing money I don't see it happening. I just got an email not too long ago that square is actually putting the games I suggested, on the PSN. They need to make some type of revenue, and maybe with those sales they can gauge if any of them are worth of a continuation.
Square may be losing a lot of money, but they're still the most powerful RPG manufacturer on the planet, no ifs ands or buts. And if Square is doing what you're saying, then the revenue from the PSN games will help boost them to fund further projects.
Also, yes, I think they should expand upon the romance arc in 7 if it's remade and help portray what turned out to be canon, that Cloud and Aerith were first in love before she died and he and Tifa wound up together...
Square is the most powerful, but they don't have the "it" factor anymore. Level 5 seems to have taken on that aspect. Almost like a predecessor. FF7 though is still the most influential RPG out there, and if a remake was made people would come running.
I agree, Square doesn't have the "it" factor that they used to. It sucks like hell, too, as Square used to be THE best RPG maker hands down. However, their waning power has allowed powerhouses like Bioware and Bethesda rise to challenge them.
An FF7 remake would help reinstate confidence in the company, that's for sure.
Like I said, I'm a mega-XBox fanboy and I would shell out the cash for a PS3 if it meant playing an FF7 remake.
Yeah, they were an empire in the RPG genre. And since they've fizzled, it has left the door open for others. FF7 remake would get many people excited, it could probably set a new sales record.
FF8 was amazing and I would love to see a sequel for it. Granted people jump on them for the orphanage part/scene, but I just overlooked it compared to the rest of the story.
There are similar themes, and there are imagery cameos - that is, different character and identity, but similar appearance, and obviously a nod to Xenogears. And some basic concepts of the story are along the same lines of Xenogears episode 1. But Xenosaga is not Xenogears episode 1. They're two different timelines, so while there will be thematic and visual similarities, they are most definitely separate stories, and not two different parts of the same story.
I noticed that, they always complain about HD. But nobody tells Square to spend years making their games look like movies. FFXIII was a big example of it. It looked great, but the game in my opinion was complete ass. It was the first FF I've never finished.
Don't even get me started on FF13, I think I'll go off if I have to talk about it lol! I thought FF12 was nice, and the battle system almost emulated FF11, which I had played for 3-4 years. So I dove right into it without much of a learning curve. 7, 8 and 9 were great. Didn't like the ending fight with Kuja, felt it could have been a bit more on a larger scale since he was the last guy,compared to Sephiroth and Ultamecia. FF10 was very fun, but 13 was such a disappointment.
I guess they must've watch ur vid or the negative feedback of Front Mission: Evolved from consumers cause they gonna release Front Mission 3 on PSN pretty soon. I wanted to play the reboot of Lufia 2 for the DS but the more gameplay I see it the more I don't want to touch it. They just ruin that series the moment they revamp it by turning it to a action rpg, taken out world map, change character's background/story, it didn't go well for that game the way I see i t.
Wow lol. They needed to put it out on PSN, but since I have the original there's no reason to get it, unless they add some type of online play. Which we all know they won't do. Turning it into an action RPG is the WORST. Alundra was the victim to that in the sequel and it bombed.
thats the reason i want to try front mission evolved cause it works like armored core used to. not a fan of the latest armored core games cause it basically scarped the growing part list for a completely new one. i used to love how fast and effective my mech was and how i could just keep porting it over game after game, nice AP number, i could damn near fly forever and no missile swarm could touch me. Didn't have great ammo cap but who needs it when you got a moon light?
I don't like the latest armored core, because they move way too fast. Seriously, Cores with Tank legs were flying around the screen like they were light AC's. We all know Tank AC's can't do that. Front Mission Evolved is a poor mans AC, but the only feature that is interesting, is that you can get out of your Wanzer and run around with the pilot. Moonlight = Badass I may have to do a video on AC some time.
yeah the Armored Core Nexts are such BS, Playing "AC4 Answers" was like playing shadow of the colossus with mecha. And if Front Mission Evolved would release demo on PS store i'd be more then happy to try but haven't seen one and i ain't willing to buy it just to try it. And ain't no damn places to rent from anymore.
I stopped playing AC after AC4, the Cores were moving around like ping pong balls. I was like "WTF is this shit?" I did like the customization, but that was it. AC needs a lot of work in the co-op department, because that's where the game would excel. A team of 4 doing missions (campaign to prolong shelf life) would be nice.
@EventStatus i stopped before AC4 With AC Last Raven. Sure AC4 looked shiny and i wanted to try it so bad but then was disappointed with what i got. All my real robot love was turned into super robot silliness by Sega. The auto water glide pissed me off the most. It took time to get the skill were i could fight over water with my "Raven's Wing" not using any hover legs and being able to fight and whoop on those who used the damn hovers legs on water.
Auto water glide could have been done so much better. Sega really screwed that game and I ad stopped playing it because of that reason. A new AC will be out next year and they promise the robot will be slower. But what they fail to realize is that's NOT the answer to all of the problems. I can see I'm going to have to do a video on this after the weekend lol.
perhaps. I just want my Real Robots back. if i wanted super robots i'll play one of the "Another Century Episode" games though admittedly i'd just collect a full Gundam or Macross team.
Exactly, they really need to go back to their original formula, but with some tweaks to keep gameplay fresh. If I don't get a video out for this this week, expect one next week. Gundam's are so damn powerful and have you ever tried to make a Gundam (piece by piece) in AC? The damn thing is either overweight or takes up too much energy. The same guy who designed the Gundam's (specs) staring from the wing series, is the same guy who designs AC's for the games.
uhg Wing makes me wanna chunder just as much as Seed. Seed was nothing but copy pasta. Wing was the twilight of gundam series. the mech designs were awesome used to have a bunch of models but my sis broke em all. Also i have made gundams in in armored core. I made the Sazabi from "char's counter attack" in armored core2 another age the duel back mount even sent out funnels.
Yeah, all the Bishonen in Wing made me sick, damn pretty boys. But the designed were amazing, especially in Endless Waltz with the customs. I'm not much of a fan of Seed, but the animation is so clean I could eat a meal off the animation cells. I would like for AC to have more realism to it like Gundam 0080.
I do think you were right with most of the games they need to turn hd or bring sequals out execpt FF7 granted you can watch the movies, but if they bring the complete FF7 Saga to HD it will sell out. You got Before Crisis, Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core ,FF7 and even make Final Fantasy Last Order in to a mini game... And they do need to bring back Vagrant Story
Oh there's no doubt it'll sell out with it's many spin offs. People will jump for pretty much anything FF. Especially those who haven't had the chance to play the games they have heard about before. Vagrant Story REALLY needs a push in the future, it has so much potential.
I think if square was smart, they would have expanded on ffvii and turned that one game into a series. Sure the rest of the final fantasies that came after 7 were nice, but they didn't have the charactors that everyone absolutely loved. Just have Cloud appear in a game and I bet the game would sell.
They seemed to have taken that route slightly with FFV/FFVI and FFX/FFX2. Could could sell hotdogs if you put him on the side of a package. He's just that much of an icon. Look how they treated him in Kingdom Hearts 1 when he walks into the arena. Slow mo, everyone in awe of him.
Brave fencer musashi was a great game! but I'm sorry to say Musashi samurai legend from my POV was unnecessary. it wasn't good,but it was that bad it was so,so.Look it up and give it a fair play.
Musashi Samurai Legend was the second one, right? With the bold looking art style? (Hard outline drawn) If so, yeah, that's one wasn't as good as the first one.
@EventStatus I don't think it'll bring more ppl to FF14 after these announcements. They'll either head bk to FFXI or not play them both now that they tarnish their name and their flagship series.
@EventStatus yeah im still playing FFXI to this day and half of the servers was gone and the players were on that server have to merged w/ the other half. I just don't know what they were thinking cause they screw'd alot of ppl and it still hurting them now and I don't think that huge update will change anything. I guess we'll have to see what the PS3 version will play out.
Why in the hell would they merge servers in the first place? FFXI has a great, deep, rich story. Why mess with any of that which can potentially harm it? And yeah, that update will have to be one epic update for people to restore their faith in that game. This game may not even make it to PS3 if people abandon it enough on PC.
I just wanted to thank you for everything you just said. It has been on my mind for years. I told my friend (this is back when the PS3 cost $599) that I would buy the PS3 on the spot if they came out with FF7 for the PS3. Shoot redo 9 I think it didn't got any spot light like the others and was up there as one best RPGs I've played.
I got one now because I got is off a friend for $200 bucks.
No problem, FFIX is very underrated and deserves more credit. The FFVII tech demo put hopes in gamers minds of a remake. Now since Square has opened that box, they have to do it sometime. Once V13 fails, they're going to have no choice but to rely on their older work.
Now if we can get Capcom to step out of the BOX alittle more there sale may go better. I find it sad that I'm going back and playing older games because I'm finding newer games boring, too easy, or just feel no need to go back and play them. All these gaming companies need to step back and look at what made them big in the first place. So far, Nintendo is the only one doing well jumping from old and new. They give what the fans want and more.
I've been doing that for quite some time now. These new generation games haven't held my attention that much as the older ones. Nintendo has done well for themselves, but I think their online system could use a revamp. But Nintendo has kept things simple, yet still entertaining. There are some gems hidden under that shovelware.
They said reboot and strengthen existing IP's, so I think no franchise is safe. I think the Chrono series is perfect the way it is as well, and it would be a shame to see reboots on them. Just make a new one and give the fans what they want.
@EventStatus yea and the same with xenogears because the people who made it left and the company was bought by nintendo and made xenoblade. I honesstly think they should put more of there stuff on psn, vc, and xbox live because it will get income like final fantasy 6 on the virtual console would make them some money.
Wow I am very dissapointed in SE now cause they said that FF14 that they released, the game that ppl payed the normal and the collection was still beta testing the whole time? Why did they retail this game at a high price if they can't complete this game....this game is gonna cancel or they have no choice but to free to play cause they are really burning a huge hole in their name...read the article on N4G.
Yeah, I heard how this should of still been in beta. It goes to show you they were thinking about money first, before product. I don't know why they changed this game so much, because this was suppose to be a bridge to FFXI. To get gamers over from FFXI to this. I've heard from people who still play FFXI, that they're taking away servers, slowly forcing them over to 14.
I didn't add tactics, because it was remade not too log ago for the portables. I do have it though, I just didn't feature it with the rest of them. It was to stress a point about those games, not to show off my collection. If that was the case, I would have showed Alundra as well.
You are right on 1 thing no matter on what developers make on their games ppl will still complain. They should do Level-5, Atlus, NIS, or other JRPG developers route and cater to that audience alone cause they are taking over SE spot but the question is will they follow it before they file for bankruptcy.(don't know if I spell that right)
Yeah, at this point no matter who they target one side won't be happy. There are many japanese devs who are still making great games, yet when a company does bad hear, it's because the western audience. Which is bull! I don't see Level 5 or any of them saying this about their games.
Hmm read the comments and SE will have too choose at this point on wether to cater for. The old generation of gaming made them successful for 6 generations while the new generation(7th) made them a failure...if they gonna reboot the IPs they gonna have to reboot themselves first. If I was a CEO and seeing ppl in my company selling their stocks cause of the bad decisions I made ima have to go and look bk on what made SE famous for and use that formula to redeem the company.
Yeah, gamers want Wada's head on a platter and you have a point. Look at the past and see who and what has brought you this far. Cater to the older generations and not the current. They tried to appeal to the current many times and it failed, they had their chance. Now it's time to go back to the older generations.
I like to see a Next gen Dragon warrior game. Hmmmm It can be alright as long they do not reboot Final fantasy series but start at one again. lol For years i wanted to see a true sequel to Chrono Trigger. or maybe a true remake of Final fantasy 7. Like what the hell all the spin off they never did a true remake? lol
A new Dragon Warrior game would be great! I don't think we'll ever see a true sequel to Chrono Trigger, but just another "Chrono" name added to the saga if they put one out. The closest out for an FF7 spin right now, is only Crisis Core.
Wait, Edios is part of Squere whatever....... Jesus Christ almighty, LEGACY OF KAIN NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..... And damn, you have some great classic titles man. And Chrono trigger still wrapped? You can get shitloads of bucks for it. If not now, in some years you will.
@TheDromader Legacy of Kain is a throwback. Damn some good memories with those games. It still felt incomplete with their last game but i still enjoy it regardless.
Vae Victis! The Legacy of Kain series really just disappeared out of nowhere. It really does need to be revived. Twilight can learn something from Legacy of Kain.
@EventStatus Exactly!! If i had the money i would revive that sucker! lol The lady who created that series is responsible for Uncharted 2. She is a masterpiece and i forgot her name.
In order to save Square, these games that went under-appreciated for years, will now become under-dog heroes. That's how I see it if Square makes the right move. Square also needs to stop worrying about graphics so much and just get back to core play.
Sad but true, since Eidos is part of square now. We may see a LoK reboot. They've already started with Lara Croft. About my games, yeah, if I had to sacrifice one of my systems. PS3 would be out the door quick! I have too many classic games for my PS1 and PS2, and wouldn't have to worry about the systems YLOD.
If they return to the fundamentals of the series they can make great games again - 13 and 14 proved that if you tried to satisfy everyone (i.e. East and West for 13, casuals and hardcores for 14) you will satisfy nobody. They should take a leaf out of Atlus' book and cater to one range of gamer (not as narrow at Atlus', mind, but still make it a game for a cerain type of gamer).
Thirdly, HD remakes of FFs have been hinted at, if you want I can PM you the URL.
I agree, go back to fundamentals. And yeah, they don't have to pull an Atlus. But I would suggest they pull a Level 5 (WKC is about as close to a good JRPG this gen, and it's free online with constant updates) Yeah, I saw the hints of some square collections. But I really need to see what they'll bring to the table, one of them better be Einhander.
Hmmm...well, I can't wholly agree with you here. Sure, yes, remakes would be nice, but it's not as simple as booting up the old Game-Remaker-9000. A full remake still costs nearly as much because nothing can be ported except the creative direction.
Secondly, I'm all for them doing a total reboot - provided they go back to basics and stick to the general formula established from FF4 - FF9 (10 was the start of linearity but 13 was an action game with a poor RPG's battle system).
Well that's what I'm saying, many don't need to be remade, more like ported. They can pick and choose which ones deserve HD. If they do a reboot, I doubt they'll stick with the same formula. Gameplay has evolved and gamers of today who haven't played those games, or respect what they were, will complain. So if they cater to those gamers and the older generation, neither will be satisfied. They'll have to pick one or the other.
Thanks, you may be the only hope. Because many developers are walking away from those great games, and regardless how many times us gamers let them know we want them, they ignore us. Hell, they could at least keep them in print if that's the case.
i agree 100% with parasite eve another black guy know about this game thank god i love that game the 2nd one too they need a remake still havent beat it lost my 2nd disc but its still very good game
I'm a Parasite Eve junkie. I've had to play through part 1 about 10 times now, and I will be getting the 3rd birthday. I may not be happy with it, but it's Parasite Eve. The second game could be remade with the old battle system, and I would be VERY happy with it.
I'm going to have to disagree with you on a Final Fantasy 7 remake. I want to relive that game that in my opinion was well ahead of its time and deserves to be in high definition!!! Just don't change the game too much like Capcom did with the gamecube remake of Resident Evil 1
Well yeah, I know many people want the FF7 remake, so I don't have a problem with people disagreeing with me. If they made a remake, to be fair I would still give it a shot instead of just outright bashing it, but it doesn't need to be made in my opinion.
The tip of Square's "crap iceberg" pretty much started with games like "The Bouncer" and "Driving Emotion Type-S". The only emotion i got from these 2 games is sadness, and now seeing Square going down even more...i knew it would happen sooner or later, with their crapload of stupid and uninteresting games they're releasing so far...they now sell games based on HYPE and not on how good the games actually are!
I think it took me 2 hours to beat The Bouncer and I had just rented it that day of beating it. I blame one man for their downfall right now, and that's Wada. Square is not focused on gameplay, they spend more time on graphics then anything, and that's not the Square I know. And I agree square seems to be more of a PR firm, selling hype, than an actual game company.
A real shame...i did bought a XBox 360 special edition with Final Fantasy XIII, and seriously...i think i'm going to sell it and buy it again later when it'll be cheaper only to complete my special edition kit again. I never played FF XIII, my girlfriend played it, dunno how she did it, with all the stupid stuff they've put in, like the "Leader" thing, if he/she die, it's game over, what the heck?? anyway...the last true Final Fantasy, for me, will always be FF IX!
Yes, FF13 was HORRIBLE! You can't switch characters, you can only play as one during battle. The battle system sucks and you're running in a straight line all damn game (till about chapter 11 or 12 actually) There's really no exploration. If you die, it's game over but other people can die multiple times. FFIX was great, I thought the Kuja fight at the end was a little easy though. But still an overall great experience.
One more thing, FFvs13 is the last shot that square enix has and is the only title that actually looks like a square enix game, if this fails, square enix is done.
I'm hyped right now, you showed all those classic games from square enix that put them on the map and made them gain the popularity they have. But shame one you, it would have been perfect if you showed Brave fencer's musashi for the PS1. The sequel on the PS2 was stale, SE should remake part 1 or make a sequel to part 1
Please don't remind me of my pain. I had BFM stolen while I was in school. (mom had quite the "habit" that needed to be supported, if you get what I was saying) I'm still looking for a copy that won't run me a crazy amount of money. I'll even buy it used if I can see how clean the disc is before hand.
SE needs a reboot, not the games; fire Wada will be a good start.
They need to stop with the "westernization" of their games and stick to their roots. I just don't get why are they abandoning the JRPG formula -- when most fans of the genre never wanted a change.
BTW, no love for Secret of Mana and the Grandia series?
I forgot Secret of Mana, I have that for the SNES as well. If I would have named all the RPG's I had that should be remade, It would have taken longer than 15minutes. Grandia, Thousand Arms, Saga Frontier, Vandal Hearts, Legend of Dragoon, Breath of Fire, Suikoden, etc. And yeah, many fans are looking for that feel of JRPG again. The only ones around are Persona and White Knight Chronicles.
HEY i know the way that Enix can get money back reals a quick.....its a game called.....wait for it.............KINGDOM HEARTS 3!!! ya morons get off the Final Fantasy already dammit!!!
There's been word that they're not ready to do it yet. These DS and PSP spinoffs are not cutting it. And I agree, final fantasy needs a hiatus, especially after FF13.
There's been word that they're not ready to do it yet. These DS and PSP spinoffs are not cutting it. And I agree, final fantasy needs a hiatus, especially after FF13.
After seeing 100% combos, I'm leaning towards no. Plus I don't like the art style and how big the damn characters, it's why I didn't like KoF 12 either. But I'm am looking into Tekken Tag 2 and MK9.
Definitely, I was such a PE fan, when I was younger I had an Aya poster on my wall. I just loved the story and battle system a lot. Then they went and messed it up with part 2.
I'd vote for a FF9 sequel!
Too bad it's not as popular as 7. :/

I would like a remake of FF7...but I want first is a remake of FF5 and FF6 and what the fuck happened to FF8 and FF9? Did Enix (not square cause *shudders* square would never had produced FFXIV.it was money horny Enix!) forget about how ff8 was commercial sucess?and 9 is well do for a remake...last year! it was it's 10th aniversery. oh well I want a remake of super mario rpg, Xenosagas, and crono trigger damn it I want more of that trigger!
supershadow125 11 months ago
@supershadow125
EventStatus 11 months ago
@EventStatus I love Secret of Mana! and that Idea would be so fun!
supershadow125 11 months ago
@supershadow125
It would be fun, I'd play it even if they didn't upgrade the graphics. But if they wanted to, just cell shade/HD it. It doesn't need dramatic cut scenes, etc.
EventStatus 11 months ago
Xenogears does not need a sequal! It needs a remake. A lot of sections were rushed later in the game (the story book sections). I love Parasite Eve 1 AND 2.
Final Fantasy VII DOESN'T need to be remade. That game is so milked to death with shitty ass movies like Advent Children.
Square was SO much better back in the 90s.
foottothenuts 1 year ago
@foottothenuts
EventStatus 1 year ago
@foottothenuts What!? AC was the best video game to movie adaptation ever made! Which part of the movie you didn't like?
zaviusfirerave 11 months ago
@zaviusfirerave you must have low expectations for films. Just because the movie had flashy fights scenes and everyone's favourite characters from the game doesn't mean it is good. The story is horrible, the original game needed no continuation. The whole film is just made as pointless fanservice for all the people like wack off to thoughts of Cloud and Sephiroth fighting all night. Tons of characters are pointless and add nothing but fanservice. the list goes on.
foottothenuts 11 months ago
@foottothenuts What? But wasn't the ending of the game was clearly hanging? We even get a new soundtrack that everyone liked: "Cloud Smiles" and the piano version of the battle theme. I agree that there wasn't much story, but wasn't the movie meant to be an action genre in the first place?
But I guess you're right about me having low expectations for films. I liked the Resident Evil movies so much that I only realized that all the fans were hating it just today!
zaviusfirerave 11 months ago
@foottothenuts Oh! And also One Winged Angel Advent version!
And also...isn't fan-service good? I wouldn't refute anyone who said that this is just a means of milking the title, but just because it's a "milkage" doesn't mean that it can't be a good one. Hey, I don't mind anyone milking my money as long as they give me good stuff!
zaviusfirerave 11 months ago
@zaviusfirerave All the characters from the game show up for no reason, some have only one or two lines, or show up only for that horrible fight scene with the behemoth. Cloud has zero personality. The dialogue is horrible. Even the cinematography during the fight scenes was horrible, with camera angels changing all over the place and sometimes being zoomed in to close to see anything in the action. The people that like it are the ones that buy anything with FFVII stamped on it.
foottothenuts 11 months ago
@foottothenuts ... ...
...I don't know what to say...I thought Cloud was supposed to have zero personality and the camera angle was intentionally made that outrageous.
Everyone I know loved it. Every online review I see gave it a good score. But you just hate every single thing about the movie because it has FFVII stamped on it?
zaviusfirerave 11 months ago
@zaviusfirerave we've already established you have no taste and zero standards. this is done.
foottothenuts 11 months ago
@foottothenuts Ouch!
So now the movie sucks because one of its fans have no taste and zero standards.
zaviusfirerave 11 months ago
@zaviusfirerave When I looked at online reviews they all gave it average scores. The movie has nothing going for it, unless one is a shallow fan that cums over anything with Cloud fighting Sephiroth in it. The movie was made just so old fans could see all their favourite characters returning and doing cool thing (or nothing at all in the case of Yuffie, Red XIII, and a couple others), regardless of whether the film is actually good or not.
The best video game movie ever is Street Fighter II.
foottothenuts 11 months ago
@foottothenuts Advent Children is basically a series of pointless scenes involving characters from the old game doing "cool" things and making references to the past game for no reason. The film tries to fit every character in, and ends up with a bunch of them being there for no reason, other than to satisfy the fans of said character. All of this is brought together by an inane pointless story that is hardly an excuse to see fight scenes.
foottothenuts 11 months ago
Okay im sorry that im going threw all your old videos and commenting on them but I'm just getting up to speed ( you can tell I'm a new subscriber). now for what my comment is about 3:22 " puts "Chrono cross down" Trigger is the one they need to remake this because I will not forgive them for what square did to there fans... darkrebellion1 1 year ago
@darkrebellion1
Yeah, there's no hiding anymore these days what the agenda is for these games. Wasn't always like that, but now you have these companies that have so much ego, they'll tell you straight out what they think of you. And yes, it seems like the customer has come last.
EventStatus 1 year ago

darkrebellion1 1 year ago
@darkrebellion1

Heck, if they want to make a loosely connected title and call it a 'reboot', great!
puchinri 1 year ago
@puchinri
EventStatus 1 year ago
@EventStatus I know they wanted to include the shower scene because of PE2's, and a shower scene on its own isn't bad, but when it's just there to add extra fanservice, they're not doing the game favors. Agreed (though I will admit, the maid outfit + Maaya Sakamoto voicing is kinda cute...). Definitely. Since they're having such a tough time with sales of certain titles and at least admitting to their mistakes, I'm hoping they'll listen a little more to what the fans want.
puchinri 1 year ago
@puchinri
EventStatus 1 year ago
I'm so depressed at how Xenogears was going to be this awesome magnum opus, but the team literally ran out of money halfway through development and had to rush the second disk...
Also, an FF7 remake, it is my personal theory, would single-handedly end the recession we're in just by the insane amount of money that would be spent purchasing the game AND PS3s.
I'm a massive XBox fanboy, but even I would shell out the cash to buy a PS3 if it meant I'd get to play the FF7 remake.
SickBritKid 1 year ago
@SickBritKid
EventStatus 1 year ago
@EventStatus
SickBritKid 1 year ago
@SickBritKid
EventStatus 1 year ago
@EventStatus
SickBritKid 1 year ago
@SickBritKid
More funding would be good, but the way square is losing money I don't see it happening. I just got an email not too long ago that square is actually putting the games I suggested, on the PSN. They need to make some type of revenue, and maybe with those sales they can gauge if any of them are worth of a continuation.
EventStatus 1 year ago
@EventStatus
SickBritKid 1 year ago
@SickBritKid
Square is the most powerful, but they don't have the "it" factor anymore. Level 5 seems to have taken on that aspect. Almost like a predecessor. FF7 though is still the most influential RPG out there, and if a remake was made people would come running.
EventStatus 1 year ago
@EventStatus
SickBritKid 1 year ago
@SickBritKid
Yeah, they were an empire in the RPG genre. And since they've fizzled, it has left the door open for others. FF7 remake would get many people excited, it could probably set a new sales record.

EventStatus 1 year ago
@EventStatus
I agree. 13 was a massive step back from the great step forward that was 12.
I loved 12. One of the best in the series, IMO, up there with 7 and 8. I never liked 10 and 9 was a weird cup of tea for me.
12, however, felt like a lot of corrections were made to a series that had started to take steps backward after 7...
and 13 took a crap on all of them.
SickBritKid 1 year ago

Don't even get me started on FF13, I think I'll go off if I have to talk about it lol! I thought FF12 was nice, and the battle system almost emulated FF11, which I had played for 3-4 years. So I dove right into it without much of a learning curve. 7, 8 and 9 were great. Didn't like the ending fight with Kuja, felt it could have been a bit more on a larger scale since he was the last guy,compared to Sephiroth and Ultamecia. FF10 was very fun, but 13 was such a disappointment.

I wanted to play the reboot of Lufia 2 for the DS but the more gameplay I see it the more I don't want to touch it. They just ruin that series the moment they revamp it by turning it to a action rpg, taken out world map, change character's background/story, it didn't go well for that game the way I see i t.
MasterOssy 1 year ago
@MasterOssy
Wow lol. They needed to put it out on PSN, but since I have the original there's no reason to get it, unless they add some type of online play. Which we all know they won't do. Turning it into an action RPG is the WORST. Alundra was the victim to that in the sequel and it bombed.
EventStatus 1 year ago
thats the reason i want to try front mission evolved cause it works like armored core used to. not a fan of the latest armored core games cause it basically scarped the growing part list for a completely new one. i used to love how fast and effective my mech was and how i could just keep porting it over game after game, nice AP number, i could damn near fly forever and no missile swarm could touch me. Didn't have great ammo cap but who needs it when you got a moon light?
Dracodeus 1 year ago
@Dracodeus
EventStatus 1 year ago
@EventStatus
yeah the Armored Core Nexts are such BS, Playing "AC4 Answers" was like playing shadow of the colossus with mecha. And if Front Mission Evolved would release demo on PS store i'd be more then happy to try but haven't seen one and i ain't willing to buy it just to try it. And ain't no damn places to rent from anymore.
Dracodeus 1 year ago
@Dracodeus
EventStatus 1 year ago
@EventStatus i stopped before AC4 With AC Last Raven. Sure AC4 looked shiny and i wanted to try it so bad but then was disappointed with what i got. All my real robot love was turned into super robot silliness by Sega. The auto water glide pissed me off the most. It took time to get the skill were i could fight over water with my "Raven's Wing" not using any hover legs and being able to fight and whoop on those who used the damn hovers legs on water.
Dracodeus 1 year ago
@Dracodeus
EventStatus 1 year ago
@EventStatus
perhaps. I just want my Real Robots back. if i wanted super robots i'll play one of the "Another Century Episode" games though admittedly i'd just collect a full Gundam or Macross team.
Dracodeus 1 year ago
@Dracodeus
EventStatus 1 year ago
@EventStatus
uhg Wing makes me wanna chunder just as much as Seed.

Oh there's no doubt it'll sell out with it's many spin offs. People will jump for pretty much anything FF. Especially those who haven't had the chance to play the games they have heard about before. Vagrant Story REALLY needs a push in the future, it has so much potential.
EventStatus 1 year ago
lol, i knew ffvii was coming.
I think if square was smart, they would have expanded on ffvii and turned that one game into a series. Sure the rest of the final fantasies that came after 7 were nice, but they didn't have the charactors that everyone absolutely loved. Just have Cloud appear in a game and I bet the game would sell.
ChockolateThunder 1 year ago
@ChockolateThunder

@IoriGaara

MasterOssy 1 year ago
@MasterOssy
You're right, these announcement tarnish their name and I don't see people looking at them in high regard anymore. I sure as hell don't.
EventStatus 1 year ago
@EventStatus yeah im still playing FFXI to this day and half of the servers was gone and the players were on that server have to merged w/ the other half. I just don't know what they were thinking cause they screw'd alot of ppl and it still hurting them now and I don't think that huge update will change anything. I guess we'll have to see what the PS3 version will play out.
MasterOssy 1 year ago
@MasterOssy

@FrostKuji
No problem, FFIX is very underrated and deserves more credit. The FFVII tech demo put hopes in gamers minds of a remake. Now since Square has opened that box, they have to do it sometime. Once V13 fails, they're going to have no choice but to rely on their older work.
EventStatus 1 year ago
@EventStatus
FrostKuji 1 year ago
@FrostKuji
I've been doing that for quite some time now. These new generation games haven't held my attention that much as the older ones. Nintendo has done well for themselves, but I think their online system could use a revamp. But Nintendo has kept things simple, yet still entertaining. There are some gems hidden under that shovelware.
EventStatus 1 year ago
i hope they dont touch the chrono series its perfect the way it is.
hardcorerocc 1 year ago
@hardcorerocc
They said reboot and strengthen existing IP's, so I think no franchise is safe. I think the Chrono series is perfect the way it is as well, and it would be a shame to see reboots on them. Just make a new one and give the fans what they want.
EventStatus 1 year ago
@EventStatus yea and the same with xenogears because the people who made it left and the company was bought by nintendo and made xenoblade. I honesstly think they should put more of there stuff on psn, vc, and xbox live because it will get income like final fantasy 6 on the virtual console would make them some money.
hardcorerocc 1 year ago
@hardcorerocc
Yeah, PSN should be loaded by now with great classics. Except, Sony keeps putting out garbage. Give me something to get excited for.

MasterOssy 1 year ago
@MasterOssy
EventStatus 1 year ago
No Final Fantasy Tactics? Really?
Spookypants77 1 year ago
@Spookypants77
I didn't add tactics, because it was remade not too log ago for the portables. I do have it though, I just didn't feature it with the rest of them. It was to stress a point about those games, not to show off my collection. If that was the case, I would have showed Alundra as well.
EventStatus 1 year ago
You are right on 1 thing no matter on what developers make on their games ppl will still complain. They should do Level-5, Atlus, NIS, or other JRPG developers route and cater to that audience alone cause they are taking over SE spot but the question is will they follow it before they file for bankruptcy.(don't know if I spell that right)
MasterOssy 1 year ago
@MasterOssy
Yeah, at this point no matter who they target one side won't be happy. There are many japanese devs who are still making great games, yet when a company does bad hear, it's because the western audience. Which is bull! I don't see Level 5 or any of them saying this about their games.
EventStatus 1 year ago
Hmm read the comments and SE will have too choose at this point on wether to cater for. The old generation of gaming made them successful for 6 generations while the new generation(7th) made them a failure...if they gonna reboot the IPs they gonna have to reboot themselves first. If I was a CEO and seeing ppl in my company selling their stocks cause of the bad decisions I made ima have to go and look bk on what made SE famous for and use that formula to redeem the company.
MasterOssy 1 year ago
@MasterOssy

Like what the hell all the spin off they never did a true remake? lol
Se7enBeatleofDoom 1 year ago
@Se7enBeatleofDoom
A new Dragon Warrior game would be great! I don't think we'll ever see a true sequel to Chrono Trigger, but just another "Chrono" name added to the saga if they put one out. The closest out for an FF7 spin right now, is only Crisis Core.

In order to save Square, these games that went under-appreciated for years, will now become under-dog heroes. That's how I see it if Square makes the right move. Square also needs to stop worrying about graphics so much and just get back to core play.
EventStatus 1 year ago
@TheDromader
EventStatus 1 year ago
If they return to the fundamentals of the series they can make great games again - 13 and 14 proved that if you tried to satisfy everyone (i.e. East and West for 13, casuals and hardcores for 14) you will satisfy nobody. They should take a leaf out of Atlus' book and cater to one range of gamer (not as narrow at Atlus', mind, but still make it a game for a cerain type of gamer).
Thirdly, HD remakes of FFs have been hinted at, if you want I can PM you the URL.
MentalRoXXorGear 1 year ago
@MentalRoXXorGear
EventStatus 1 year ago
Hmmm...well, I can't wholly agree with you here. Sure, yes, remakes would be nice, but it's not as simple as booting up the old Game-Remaker-9000. A full remake still costs nearly as much because nothing can be ported except the creative direction.
Secondly, I'm all for them doing a total reboot - provided they go back to basics and stick to the general formula established from FF4 - FF9 (10 was the start of linearity but 13 was an action game with a poor RPG's battle system).
MentalRoXXorGear 1 year ago
@MentalRoXXorGear
EventStatus 1 year ago
Truth be told, Vagrant Story has a sequel, to an extent.
It's set in the universe of FF12 and the FF Tactics franchise.
MentalRoXXorGear 1 year ago
@MentalRoXXorGear
Yeah to an extent, Risk breaker for life! It's set in that "gambit" system, which is a mock of the FFXI system. They need a tactics online dammit!

Izzybizzy 1 year ago
@Izzybizzy

@Izzybizzy
I'm a Parasite Eve junkie. I've had to play through part 1 about 10 times now, and I will be getting the 3rd birthday. I may not be happy with it, but it's Parasite Eve. The second game could be remade with the old battle system, and I would be VERY happy with it.
EventStatus 1 year ago
I'm going to have to disagree with you on a Final Fantasy 7 remake. I want to relive that game that in my opinion was well ahead of its time and deserves to be in high definition!!! Just don't change the game too much like Capcom did with the gamecube remake of Resident Evil 1
ebrownjr81 1 year ago
@ebrownjr81
Well yeah, I know many people want the FF7 remake, so I don't have a problem with people disagreeing with me. If they made a remake, to be fair I would still give it a shot instead of just outright bashing it, but it doesn't need to be made in my opinion.
EventStatus 1 year ago
The tip of Square's "crap iceberg" pretty much started with games like "The Bouncer" and "Driving Emotion Type-S". The only emotion i got from these 2 games is sadness, and now seeing Square going down even more...i knew it would happen sooner or later, with their crapload of stupid and uninteresting games they're releasing so far...they now sell games based on HYPE and not on how good the games actually are!
RaptorZX3 1 year ago
@RaptorZX3

@EventStatus
RaptorZX3 1 year ago
@RaptorZX3
EventStatus 1 year ago
One more thing, FFvs13 is the last shot that square enix has and is the only title that actually looks like a square enix game, if this fails, square enix is done.

EventStatus 1 year ago
I'm hyped right now, you showed all those classic games from square enix that put them on the map and made them gain the popularity they have. But shame one you, it would have been perfect if you showed Brave fencer's musashi for the PS1. The sequel on the PS2 was stale, SE should remake part 1 or make a sequel to part 1

@Drenn23
EventStatus 1 year ago
SE needs a reboot, not the games; fire Wada will be a good start.
They need to stop with the "westernization" of their games and stick to their roots. I just don't get why are they abandoning the JRPG formula -- when most fans of the genre never wanted a change.
BTW, no love for Secret of Mana and the Grandia series?
MrPewPew01 1 year ago
@MrPewPew01
