  • Thanks for posting this, i loved the sessions at the Black Cap in the 70s, I never thought i would see her again. Tried to tell my kids how funny Mrs Shufflewick was and now i can show them.

  • @bottomboil63

Hi....I'm so pleased you enjoyed seeing this clip and that the legend lives on for you.

  • great post thanks

  • Your welcome. Thank's for viewing.

  • I remember Mrs Shufflewick on radio and on the halls in the fifties. Rex was a massive star who, although he couldn't swear, still managed to get some double entendre past the authorities.

Rex made and drank away a fortune and It was good to see this little piece of his work.

  • thank you that was ... fab... a mate of mine has been telling me for so long to watch this , im so glad i did ,,,,, funny at its best thank you

  • Thank you for posting this clip. I so remember Mrs. Shufflewick from the time i lived and worked in London. I am happy to say that he is remembered on the new Comedy Carpet in Blackpool.

  • @ethelbarton

You are more than welcome....thank you for your comments.

  • Brilliant, Shuff was a one off, worked with him a couple of times, and he appeared at The Cabal Club, Frith Street W1, where I compered during the 1970's, loads of fond memories xx

  • loved this makes me feel young again used to see hr in the black cap @ camden thank you for posting

  • I am so pleased to see a video of Rex. I've listened to the cassette of this for over twenty years and Mrs Shufflewick is always popular at dinner parties.

  • OMG!!! have waited nigh on 30 years to see any recording of SHUFF,

    Thank you. anymore?????

  • @devilsknot689

30 years?!!! ...........Well, I hope this recording, the only one I have I'm afraid, was well worth the wait !!!!

So pleased you have enjoyed it.

  • Thanks a lotto for posting this! I seem to be the only oap round my way that remembers her/him! I have an anecdote: At a gig I attended in London around 1963-4, Long John Baldry brought a young singer to the stage. His introduction was: 'Now we have the only British teenager who understands the blues.. and also the only one who resembles Mrs Shufflewick! ROD STEWART!' And on came Rod the Mod in what could have been his first gig...

  • @momogiraf

    Your very welcome. Fascinating anecdote........

  • I remember him with great fondness i only seen him once in the blach cap and its so good to have this im keeping it as a favourite so thak you so very much for putting this on here x

  • @desi8527

Your more than welcome. So glad you enjoyed it.

  • my mum has an lp recorded at the Waterman's Arms with Mrs. Shufflewick. The family has been listening to it for years, maybe 40 years. What a thrill to actually see Rex Jamieson doing some of the same material. Love the top of the bus which I've heard before and still get a chuckle of. Thank you

  • Oh my, I just LOVED this. I knew Shuff during the seventies, when he did the music hall Sundays at Stratford East, and have many an entertaining tale to tell of our friendship... I thought he was the best so-called 'drag act' I've ever seen, as he wasn't really, more to do with the music hall, and an extraordinarily funny man. Thanks for this.

  • Incredible. I have a rare audio recording of Rex, I never knew that any film exisited!! It has made my year, and more, to find this, THANK YOU!! I remember seeing her at the Cap in the 70's, then was a great friend of our wonderful Phil Starr, who, by his own admission, owed sooo much to Rex. Just incredible to see this again, I have tears in my eyes.....can't say more. xx

  • @Graemeandarchie

Hi............I am thrilled you got so much pleasure from seeing this clip.

  • Fantastic. I worked at this venue for 18 years but joined well after Mrs Shufflewick. Thanks for posting this. do we know who was the drag queen at the end taking Mrs Shufflewick off ?

    Chris

  • @ChrisReardonUK Would the one leading Mrs Shufflewick off Mark Fleming?

  • @pumporgan99

    I don't think it's Marc Fleming.

However, Marc and Shuff would often perform on the same show at the Black Cap on Sunday. The Black Cap would be packed. Those were wonderful days.

  • @ChrisReardonUK Would the one leading Mrs Shufflewick off be Mark Fleming?

  • Is that Lee Tracy (Brighton. Uk.) introducing Miss Shufflewick? sounds and looks like him ? fabulous find 'kissmequick8' High Camp indeed. 0ox

  • Great that you posted this. Thanks so much. Certainly brings back some memories, though mine are from the 60s rather than the 70s.

  • Fantastic.

    Thanks for posting.

    Where and when was it?

  • @TheRogerdave

Your more than welcome. I think it was filmed during the mid to late 1970's but I have absolutely no idea where i'm afraid. Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
