  • he sounds and looks a little bit as the terminator

  • i was blasting music with my headphones before i started this vid, then when he smashed i almost died from the gunshot sounds

  • for those no life haters out there....for fuck sake if you wanna criticize his english, use your brain before that. Firstly, he is danish, secondly he does not own a Phd in english language and lastly he is a badminton player not a lecturer in cambridge. he can simply conduct this tutorial in his own mother language, and you fucking hater will get nothing from it. Yeah try watching expert village they speak better english.

  • he sounds like terminator

  • i had my headphones at maxed volume and his smashes are deafening

  • "the last thing..*gasp*...i wanna..*gasp*.. talk"

  • who likes short shorts...

  • i thought i heard thunder just then, but it was actually him smashing, haha

  • One of the greatest smashers ever - just the guy to do a training video (but I would have preferred Jung Jae-Sung :).

  • This dude is so fast

  • I would like to see him at the Sydney World Masters games tomorrow at Sydney olympic park

  • bull shit are you

  • nice smash... powerful smash...

  • I really love it.

  • finally someone lefthanded

  • Lin Dan...

  • yeah... this guy was called the "white chinaman" by his danish team mates for his fast attacking style of play and use of bushido philosophy, believe it or not

and he is was most successful danish player after peter gade and morten frost

  • @bdmntn07 Don't you mean After Morten Frost and Before Peter Gade

  • @Chowmeinaddict I think he meant Peter Rasmussen was second only to Peter Gade and Morten Frost.

  • jump smash is pure awesomeness!

  • the reason he is rusty is because the last time he won the world chamionships is 12 years ago

  • eat more protein? are you stupid you clearly know nothing about nutrition

  • I think he/she means eating protein to build muscle for your legs.

  • dude hes the former champion.... basically his level is too high for jump smash... for level B and below.... can never be applied since a jump uses more stamina.... than making the power to hit the ball... and as you can see he made 5 jump smash and hes catching his breathe.... that's a bit difficult to use... but too powerful if you can control the angle

  • dude he uses 22 string tension hahahaha

  • It's a very efective shot, I have done it 2 or 3 times and I made it sucessfull, of course it was next to the line, you need to put the opponent thinking where the shuttle is going to, but not too much, just a little and then rotate as fast as possible and poen your shoulder and jump as much as you can xDD, I'm not federated, but I do train and I also do some friendly matches in the club.

  • i don't think that i makes sense to learn the jump smash. It looks great but for many players it is not very intelligent cause u'r to slow after doing the jump...

  • it depends on how, when and where...jump smash is about getting the angle and setting up for you or ur partner(dbls or x-dbls)..it does slow u down (a lil or a lot depends on how u execute it)but if u do execute well...it helps a lot for your games..

  • It's not liek you could skip it, even jumping just to say you went off ground. It is simply devastating.

You gather more momentum to shot doing this. Practice it and you'll be a way better player.

Why? Angle, power, accuracy. You can fire it straight from back court down the other within the first half just by adding you extra degrees on a jump.

The shuttle has less to cover, it goes faster and the shot is damnly harder to hit. If heS' not a pro, I doubt he can take advantage of this time.

  • u sound like arnold schwaxzernegar

  • imagine the terminator smashing at you xD

  • is it me or is his grip really fat.... looks alot thicker than mine

  • yes he has probably put his grip over an old grip

  • Does anyone know how/when jump smashing in badminton began and who first performed it?

I can't seem to find any info on this in google.

  • why does it matter?

is like saying who invented the drop shot?

    i wonder....

  • it matters to me since when i started playing badminton i never thought that you could do that to increase angle and power. Who ever invented or first performed it is a genius. It's like how alley oops in basketball changed how basketball is played.

  • Great smash. If only I could do the same!

  • damn, you need run a lot

  • Wow. Hej Peter. Miss you. You are so fast!!

  • haha always funny to listen to guys who play on lowleveled local clubs and think they rule cause they are better then their teammates or sth.

in the end we all play for fun, some of us are better than others of cause, but we have the same hobby and should not insult each other.cheers

  • long speech you got there... lol

  • Oh.. alright Mr Swarchenegger. Thx for the tips. I'll do that.

  • wtf very2 good shit!

  • omg the sound of a smash is like drugs to me ;D

  • excellent tutorial

  • i like the " aim part"

  • lol.. hmm nah its difernt for everyone.. i can jump smash. but i find it that with jump smash its not as strong as normal smash. it just make the opponent lose time recovering after the lob

  • then its not a real jump smash. Just as a reminder if a jump smash is performed correctly there are barely any chances that your oppennet can catch it becuz the speed of the shuttle is not only boosted by your arm power but also the strenghth of your whole body. In addition, there are also angles of the smashes involved in here. As a result, just to tell you guys, jump smash is not htat easy to master okay so dont bullshit about craps that it is easy. Taufik took like 5 years to master it okay?!

  • well i didnt say i mastered it. i sed i can do it. so dont assume when we say we can do it means that we has mastered it completely.. sure our smashes prob not as fast n acurate as taufiks n all thoes other pros.. but wot we mean is we can do it... so dont get so cocky about how everyone cant do it just cos u cant

  • First, I can do it sometimes. Second, its not called mastering. Its called doing it properly. I dont know wat kinda of jump smash you ugys are doing, but jump smash isnt= aerial smash. Your smash is called aerial smash that has the form of jump smash. Do you think Peter rassumen is here just to waste time? no hes teaching. If you dont respect it and dont learn then dont brag about it. Dude jeez now just shut the fuck up and watch the video

  • well you dont know how good our skills are and all the people that sez they can do it, unless u've seen them b4. now how can you say they not doing it properly.. stop being cocky just cos you cant do it properly. and yes i alrdy watched the VId...

  • first of all. Some body calimed htat he played 2 tears and mastered jump smash. Yeah , I admit some people can master aerial smash in 2 tears but not a jump smash unless they just have a condition where they get to play badminton 6 hours a day and dont do other stuff. Yhea its doesnt matter if you watched it 100 time or not. I watched it like 100 times and it took me 3 years to perform some jump smash noob. I said I can do some that are actually fast where it can crack ear drums and fucing own u

  • wtf is an aerial jump smash. i played for 10 years i dont even know ok.

dude who cares. learn from the video. if u too good for it, do something else lol.

  • lol i played volleyball before badminton so jump smashing was almost a reflex for me. i had to learn how to smash regularly lol

  • Thanks. That was helpful.

  • ah.. you showed us the offense that is way too powerful.. can you please post another video showing how to handle the racket properly so that we can shoot at the perfect angle... please???

  • i would like also to thank you.. i wont forget your tips and im trying hard to train with your tips..

  • great video! he made the effort to make us a video =) but his shorts were too short lol

  • i think they're in good lengths, gives more flexibility

  • and i assume u can play as good as him

  • so?

  • how can i learn jumpsmash he's left handed....

  • you use your imagination, its just the opposite for right handers...

  • leftys r the best ;)

  • Speaking as a 6'3" caucasian lefty, this guy is one of my heros.

  • at 4:00 - 4:05 he gonna forgot his english lol

  • You dont know how to write a simple sentence yourself, and you're mocking him.

  • this is so cool

even if hes not good at english..

    can still understand d point..

im doin dis 4 2week still

cant..d flikin' think is so hard.

  • Hey, we're lucky that he can speak English. Good on him!

  • Awesome!!

  • the way of jump smash have many different way to do it, some of them will focus more energy on the legs to perform a fast swing for the arm, and some people will focus energy on the arm and smash as hard as they could while jumping, and some people(pros) will do the full tradition way, which is normal smash, and then jump.(hard to explain)

  • volleyballboi13

yes its hard to understand but u don't need peter to have perfect english to teach ppl the jump smash as long as u know what he means by common sense. The point of this video is for ppl to know how its suppose to look like and peters tips were pretty useful to some of the intermediate players. Also everyone has different ways to learn jump smash so its not a biggie

  • uuummmmmm....no not a great video to teach people, its hard to understand him, and he isn't really good at using words to help him describe the actions. he should just show us and then have someone else who is better at explaining it.

  • You mean a translator, coz you can't explain someone of such high badminton stature's actions XD

  • Damn, yes, that leg-flick is difficult. I can hardly do it his way, usually only one leg flicks, and mostly they don't even flick... ned to train on this one, seems it gives you more power by flicking them. Thanks mate, great video. Peter Rasmussen is a great badmintonner.

  • Doubles players tend to be more skilled at jump smashes than singles players.

  • well done friend thank for your lesson... i think im better than you.sorry about that..........

  • Lmao!... You are making a comment to the 1997 Men's Singles World Champion. What are you gonna say next? Lin Dan is no match for you? LoL!

  • Hey, your shit is coming out of the wrong hole! I feel disgraced that I am Malaysian.

  • Good video Peter Rasmussen :)

  • the leg-flick also makes you look extra awesome. good video cheers.

  • Tusind Tak!!!

  • is he related to katie rasmussen

  • great video to teach ppl about the jump smash

  • Whoever says his english is bad, then i'd like to hear you speaking danish yourself. He's a former world champion and his jump smashes were among the best in the world.

  • The bad thing is he is using the left hand which is unusual for many people.

  • watch the video in a mirror if you're a right-hander - it really helps you imagine and understand the movements.

  • I love how left handers play. They seem so graceful, lol.

  • you mut be all americans or englishmen: not evrybody can speak english. you guys think that evrybody must speak english, that's foolish. The americans should sign the kyoto contract instead of whining about peoples english.

  • Peter Rasmussen is dane ...

  • wow he's so good i don't think as someone said "camera-nervous" maybe a bit but cmon he's british i think? Can't expect him to speak well if he hasn't learned english good enough yet and after doing so many smashes dude most of us would be panting like dogs

  • Very awesome video, helps me think twice about some things that I do, the the little leg flick part is interesting.

  • i think he's more of the camera-nervous type. nevertheless a great instructional video.

  • wow he is very great, but should work more on his english

  • wonderful

  • He is so great, especially when he tries so hard explaining things with English which is limiting his ability to express himself. Plus imaging being in his position, trying to teach us after doing 5, 6 jump smashes and has not adjust his breath yet.

  • This is an awesome video, I wanna go try this out!
