I live in CT. Joe is an idiot who cares only for himself, and for the insurance companies that have already laid people off here. Become a Republican, Joe, make the transition complete. Can't believe this is the same guy I voted for back in 2000. Actually, by 2004, he had already lost me.
when Massachusetts Democrat Michael Capuano, fresh from a second-place finish in the primary for Edward Kennedy's Senate seat, was asked to tell the Democratic caucus what he had learned on the campaign trail, he replied in two words: "You're screwed."
I can't believe that Connecticut elected SOB either. I hate this two faced traitor. The mother F. sold us out and took the money. I would like to spit in his face.
Just curious, but what is wrong with this? WHy all the name calling? My mom retired and had medicaid and it covered EVERYTHING in her last few years on this earth -- all her hospitalizations, cancer treatments, hospice care, etc. She didn't have to come up with a dime. Why would this, then, be bad if older Americans could buy into Medicaid? I'm just wondering why this bothers so many of the people commenting here. Thanks!
@miss: some ppl will cut off their nose to spite their face, just to make sure certain others fail, i.e. dems &/or obama.
idk what else would prompt these idiots to NOT want healthcare that is 'free' when getting treatment or at least extremely affordable otherwise.
my priv. ins. corp. premiums & deductibles is $7k+ a yr, but w/ only 'discounts' after the deduc. is met. elsewise, everything b4hand is to be paid at full price - which means i havent been to the dr.s in yrs.
@misscarla62 the namecalling is because lieberman has long advocated this medicare buyin and then he turned around and, essentially by himself, made sure it would NOT be part of the health bill. now, of course, he is lying about his previous statements. he is the single worst member of the senate and that ain't easy to do.

@zaxalon - You can't blame Lieberman for all democrats problems... Obama promised to bring the Repubs on board for such a transforming issue such as health care.
He's been stonewalling all efforts for the other side to have any say whatsoever. With the American People hugely against the plan, what did you expect, scores of Democrats to fall on their swords so Pres. Obama can put a feather in his cap?
@kjen: yeah, it was naive to believe neo-cons would want anything that might give real competition to corporate control over most american's lives & health well-being.
hopefully, real americans will keep CONTINUING the trend of decreasing the # of repubs in both houses of congress.
I think we need to make a distinction between support for a 'public option' whatever that means, and the current health care bill. I personally don't know how that question on a 'public option' was worded, but with 56% against, and 46% strongly against (Rassmussen) the health care bill in it's current form, they certainly don't want the public option(s) discussed by our House or Senate.
did you read my post? 56% applies to those who do not support the health care bill in congress. Current polls all indicate a 56-61% level of non-support.
What that implies is that that 53% number somehow put on the public option favorability needs to be supported somehow by several polls or thrown out.
It's also possible that 53% of people support some sort of public option, just not what's being proposed. I don't have much faith in whatever poll produced those numbers.
@kj "%53 support a public option of some sort".... your quote.
first u say 53% want a public option, then you want us to believe that x%, cuz now ur saying 56%, 61%, when it was 62% in your older posts, dont want a public option, then you say you dont have any faith in the polls when they dont support your stance, but want us to believe the #s you've gotten from polls.
idk ANY american who is for priv. ins. corp.s to keep gouging us & using the DDD system: DELAY DENY DEATH
You keep saying that I'm contradicting myself. I'm not. They really are two separate issues.
The most recent and reliable polls (e.g., Rasmussen, CNN, others) indicate a strong sentiment against the health care legislation as currently written (including the public option). That's fact.
I did some more research and found a few polls that do say that Americans do support some sort of public option, but what kind of public option? That's the unanswered question.
@kj: using 2 #s to contradict something is contradicting urself.
then saying (w/o #s) that there's a sentiment against public healthcare but also a sentiment for it is another contradiction.
anyways, when ppl in other 1st world countries get medical treatments w/o having to fight w/ priv. ins. corp.s to determine whether they're 'allowed' to continue living or not is something ALL americans would want too, esp. during times when they're sick to death, LITERALLY.

the only way to get to liberman is to take away all his power & influence & damage his ego. i dont see why the senate is still trying to cater to this guy. you can seperate the bill into different parts so that you can get reconciliation (51 vote maj.). we could run an end game around j.l. & get the healthcare that compares to the rest of the 1st world countries
I can't stand the sound of his voice. When he begins to speak my brain shuts him off like so much white noise. He is a self promoter and a true American pain in the ass.
I was involved in Joes bid for president in 2004 and he definately supported a public option back then and expanding medicare. He said "medicare is a great program even with the existing problems we have with it. Its intent was to cover each and every American citizen and that is what I would like to see. Expand medicare into its original purpose". Bought and paid for by the insurance industry now Joe?............
Ok. Fair and balanced. Huffington Post reports a CNN poll on Dec. 10. 61% opposed, 36% for Health Care Plan. They also report a curious stat that %53 support a public option of some sort, while 46% oppose. They lament however that only 22% of American families believe they would be better off under health care reform.
Rassmussen Reports today, 56% to 40% against the Health Care Plan with a whopping 46% Strongly opposing.
So, a few facts instead of swearing and idealogical blather.
Rassmussen is the gold standard. He nailed the election results spot on. He may lean right in his own political views, but you can't argue with his polling. Anyways, CNN, the more 'objective' poll puts it at 60%. Who can argue with that?
People can insult me all day long, but you can't argue with the fact the the American People, while supportive of some sort of health care reform ( I want it myself!!) do not support the 2400 page monstrocity on the floor of the Senate.
@kjen: i dont see how the # of pgs makes it a bad thing. also, it's just ur opinion about the support of it, since u've done nothing but talk for other ppl.
@rumpole33 - I've quoted facts, which you have not. No matter what poll you look at, the American people don't want this. Do you support the american people?
Lieberman is winning in Connecticut polls while Dodd is losing big time to an unknown. Wouldn't it be prudent to listen to the people of his state rather than the White House?
@kjen: u've contradicted urself by saying 53% want a public option.
the only 'americans' who want the private ins. corps to keep controlling & dictating what treatments/procedures we get & DONT GET are those that are making $ off of it CONTRARY to the LIVES & HEALTH of REAL AMERICANS.
but then again, using ur term, i guess u dont want to 'support' nor help america.
it's funny how we'll never turn down cheap or low cost healthcare, not even anti-americans who want to keep us sick & dying
You assume that I don't want health care reform. Well let me be the only one in this forum offering ideas:
1. Sell Insurance across state lines (easy)
2. Tort Reform - Cap outrageous awards
3. Import generics and drugs from Canada
That's just 3 easy things that Dems will NOT do because they are beholden to lawyers, and Obama has done a backroom deal with Drug companies letting them keep their prices high while restricting imports.
Why aren't you crying from the housetops about that?
@kj: #1 is a state issue, not a fed issue, as diff states have diff requirements. #2: capping tort reform does nothing to improve 'allowance' of treatments by private ins. corps. it only helps the corp.s & negligent med providers, since most lawsuits are done against those who've a history of mistreatmt/abuse. #3 neo-cons are against hurting am. pharm. corp.s profits.
only the dems want importation of drugs - not the repubs
@kj: state issue re ins. is done by repubs. dems want COMPETITION in order to help the public rather than the MONOPOLIES favored by repubs aka corp. lovers.
My last statement on the matter.. It's not an issue of corps vs the people. Corps give us the jobs and our high standard of living here in America.
All of my suggestions will LOWER health care cost, which is the point of reform in the first place. Doctors will not have to pay huge insurance premiums. If Dems want to import drugs then why the Obama back door deal? You don't hear them talking about the greedy Pharma companies anymore because they've been paid off.
@kj: where's my original answer? oh well...1. repubs dont want to get rid of the monopolies ins. corp.s have in certain states. that's why they make sure the states keep them in existance. 2. tort reforms are pro-ins. corp.s/medical providers & anti-american public. that's why repubs want it. 3. dems have been clamoring for restrictions to lift reg.s on importing drugs. repubs are against it as it's anti-pharm corp.s
Lieberman can go straight to fucking hell. Preventing healthcare to so many who are suffering and going bank-rupt - just FUCK him. He'll go down in history as a self-serving tool.
What an utter douche bag.... hypocritical, egotistical jackass. And to think President Obama offered him an outstretched hand after Lieberman endorsed McCain.... Thanks Joe... Obama should have used that hand to punch you in the face.

Joe Lieberman is one of the few principled public servants in Washington these days. He's not beholden to party politics like most of the other folks on Capitol Hill. Connecticut would be FOOLISH not to re-elect this honorable man in 2012!
WTF?!? Either Joe "Short Bus Ride" Lieberman has got Alzheimer's, or he's got the moral values of Caligula.
Taking a particular stand on some issue may make you unpopular, or you may be perceived to have not studied the issue sufficiently - you'll answer to voters at the polls. But this kind of Now I Like It Now I Don't bullshit, combined with the fact that he takes LOTS of money from the insurance industry, is out and out corruption.
Two sides to this fellow. He wants Republicans, so he can have cover in his next election or he will lose his seat. He basically will not vote in favor of it unless a Republican does also. He doesn't care what is in the bill.
Kind of like how 70% support for the public option translates into '85% of people are happy with their health care coverage.'
so no reform at all for anyone. Health insurance CEOs are the biggest parasites our society have ever known. You can't honestly tell me they add to the quality of health care.
By the Ghost of Adam Smith, they should all be homeless.
The worst thing about is even if this dick move costs him the next election, his pals at the insurance companies in Connecticut will have a big cushy "consulting" job waiting for him, probably with his own car and driver. Personally, though, I blame it all on the teabaggers.
Hypocritical Douchebag... Talks out of his ass with Great Confidence that only the Successfully Dumbed-Down will swallow his poisonous Swill. He is UN-AMERICAN and should switch to the Multi-Nationalist Party that pays him off and strokes his Tiny Tiny pecker.
Do you really think no liberal has ever worked, or has an honest work ethic? Because I think you will find that Obama voters tended to be more educated and affluent than... oh, fuck it. What's the point? You are an idiot.
ASSHOLE. His wife is a Pharma strategist and he's in bed with the industry. He has Israeli citizenship. THEY HAVE SOCIAL MEDICINE! GO BACK THERE ASSHOLE!
I fucking hat Joe lieberman. One of the biggest most self serving snakes we have. I can't believe he was even on the democratic ticket in 2000. Now he's even fucking up the new medicare buy in for people 55 and older..A complete liar..If theres a hell a definatly has a place for him.

Interesting that @kjenson100, who cited a wrong 62% statistic has ZERO video views in his profile, yet commented on this video.
A total GOP plant.
Nice try, a-hole.

So, a few facts instead of swearing and idealogical blather.
kjenson100 2 years ago
Rassmussen leans right and is run by a guy who worked as a Bush campaign strategist. CNN is objective.
stoicboy 2 years ago
Rassmussen is the gold standard. He nailed the election results spot on. He may lean right in his own political views, but you can't argue with his polling. Anyways, CNN, the more 'objective' poll puts it at 60%. Who can argue with that?
People can insult me all day long, but you can't argue with the fact the the American People, while supportive of some sort of health care reform ( I want it myself!!) do not support the 2400 page monstrocity on the floor of the Senate.
kjenson100 2 years ago
@kjen: i dont see how the # of pgs makes it a bad thing. also, it's just ur opinion about the support of it, since u've done nothing but talk for other ppl.
rumpole33 2 years ago
@rumpole33 - I've quoted facts, which you have not. No matter what poll you look at, the American people don't want this. Do you support the american people?
Lieberman is winning in Connecticut polls while Dodd is losing big time to an unknown. Wouldn't it be prudent to listen to the people of his state rather than the White House?
kjenson100 2 years ago
@kjen: u've contradicted urself by saying 53% want a public option.
the only 'americans' who want the private ins. corps to keep controlling & dictating what treatments/procedures we get & DONT GET are those that are making $ off of it CONTRARY to the LIVES & HEALTH of REAL AMERICANS.
but then again, using ur term, i guess u dont want to 'support' nor help america.
it's funny how we'll never turn down cheap or low cost healthcare, not even anti-americans who want to keep us sick & dying
rumpole33 2 years ago
You assume that I don't want health care reform. Well let me be the only one in this forum offering ideas:
1. Sell Insurance across state lines (easy)
2. Tort Reform - Cap outrageous awards
3. Import generics and drugs from Canada
That's just 3 easy things that Dems will NOT do because they are beholden to lawyers, and Obama has done a backroom deal with Drug companies letting them keep their prices high while restricting imports.
Why aren't you crying from the housetops about that?
kjenson100 2 years ago
@kj: #1 is a state issue, not a fed issue, as diff states have diff requirements. #2: capping tort reform does nothing to improve 'allowance' of treatments by private ins. corps. it only helps the corp.s & negligent med providers, since most lawsuits are done against those who've a history of mistreatmt/abuse. #3 neo-cons are against hurting am. pharm. corp.s profits.
only the dems want importation of drugs - not the repubs
tort reform is pro-corp.; not pro-public
rumpole33 2 years ago
@kj: state issue re ins. is done by repubs. dems want COMPETITION in order to help the public rather than the MONOPOLIES favored by repubs aka corp. lovers.
rumpole33 2 years ago
My last statement on the matter.. It's not an issue of corps vs the people. Corps give us the jobs and our high standard of living here in America.
All of my suggestions will LOWER health care cost, which is the point of reform in the first place. Doctors will not have to pay huge insurance premiums. If Dems want to import drugs then why the Obama back door deal? You don't hear them talking about the greedy Pharma companies anymore because they've been paid off.
kjenson100 2 years ago
@kj: where's my original answer? oh well...1. repubs dont want to get rid of the monopolies ins. corp.s have in certain states. that's why they make sure the states keep them in existance. 2. tort reforms are pro-ins. corp.s/medical providers & anti-american public. that's why repubs want it. 3. dems have been clamoring for restrictions to lift reg.s on importing drugs. repubs are against it as it's anti-pharm corp.s

Where is this "isle" you refer to? Maybe your statistic (62%) is as accurate as your spelling!

Lieberman is the most corrupt politician in Washington.
He needs to be thrown out because he is beholden to special interests, and he does not represent the American People.

"Free Market" conservatives will fight to the absolute DEATH to protect the parasitic profits of the non-working class (insurance CEOs.)

Joe Lieberman is one of the few principled public servants in Washington these days. He's not beholden to party politics like most of the other folks on Capitol Hill. Connecticut would be FOOLISH not to re-elect this honorable man in 2012!
chiomob 2 years ago
Worse yet, he's beholden to the insurance industry, and does their bidding at the expense of real health care reform.
And he's a mealy-mouthed egotist who spouts drippy platitudes.
It would be lovely to see him de-throned in 2012.
Yowzoe 2 years ago
What an arrogant sociopathic prick.
hersheyscurse 2 years ago 4
Two sides to this fellow. He wants Republicans, so he can have cover in his next election or he will lose his seat. He basically will not vote in favor of it unless a Republican does also. He doesn't care what is in the bill.
billyrayband 2 years ago 2
51 republican senators - bulletproof majority
60 democratic senators - impotent minority
It's how gravity works in Washington DC.

This motherfucker deserves the slow, painful death his constituents will suffer as a result of his corruption.
I swear, flip-flopping on an issue that affects Americans' health is what gets him a ticket to hell.

The worst thing about is even if this dick move costs him the next election, his pals at the insurance companies in Connecticut will have a big cushy "consulting" job waiting for him, probably with his own car and driver. Personally, though, I blame it all on the teabaggers.
