I opposed the war, but in fact, I think we did have success in that country, and it seems to have been deliberately undermined. An occupation was the *preferred* outcome,(those billion dollar bases were being constructed from the beginning) and the huge unrest seems to be being manufactured as a pretext for staying in/splitting the country. The administrator before Paul Bremer was planning to hold elections immediately and get out and he was fired by Bush.
