Wow that was very well done, clearly have formal trainning. Curious how u mention u made your sword. Did you make it using traditional methods or in a machine shop?
@fuppesplaya24 no you dont cut metal with a sword thats a good way to ruin and chip your blade especially with japanese swords built to have a strong spine with a razor sharp edge even if you had the greatest sword ever made it wont cut through swords
He is following very clean form, a bit of iaijutsu. Very nice cuts and control. Why are there so many dislikes? Maybe because most people think that a tameshigiri has to be a tatami mat?
@TheLilirishgangsta1 Lets see, on the topic of traditional kenjutsu, shall i trust the man who just cut several waterjugs into pieces with no wasted movement and impecable form, or the Youtube spam commenter with the word "gangsta" in his name?
Nice cutting there :) ..People, what's up with this "emo" -thingy on this video? This guy has made a really nice blade, does nice cutting, and you only detest the look of his hairstyle, "emo", and thne complain about it. What's wrong with people here?
nice! at first I thought, "this dude is crazy doing that with the katana only in one hand" but then I saw it isn't a katana xD its wakizashi :p cool tho
@XxXxPemaxXxX Technically, it's a kodachi (kotachi-whatever)-functionally, it's a short, still two-handable katana style sword, invented when merchants wanted their gaurds to have a legally carryable two handed weapon when katana were made illegal for non-samurai to posess-I have one, as well as a katana and wakizashi made by the same smith-I much prefer the kotachi, personally; excellent control, light weight and less awkward in hallways and cluttered rooms..
@squidlybytes oohh... I knew that katanas where made illegal for non-samurai (I have one too lol) but I didn't knew that of the kodachi :o interesting, thanks for the info :P
Sick video man. Good cuts, and despite what these idiots might deside to post Masahiro121... you're skill adimirable. Imperfection is often a characteristic of the individuals personality, not necessarily to be frowned upon if your cuts can weild the correct result.
This guy is no fake. I'm not familiar with the school he's using, but he handles the sword well. FYI every Iado, Kendo, or AikiKen dojo I've ever attended recommends beginning the cut 3 or so inches below the kissaki (the tip) They do it this way to maximize reach while providing enough blade to complete the cut. If the edge doesn't travel during the contact it is considered hacking, not cutting. Again, I've never heard of a strategy school that endorses hacking.
@mrchockuls you bow because as a sign of respect to your opponent, although the person in the video doesn't do this you are also meant to bow before you draw your sword also. If you go to a kendo school you will be taught all this anyway so I wouldn't look to far into it just yet
Well considering I am a swordsman as well, I will tell you now that this guy is a fake. every Iaido student and Kendo student know that your cut is at its strongest from the tip of the blade and that the blade must always be controlled. the fact that he just swings his arms means the strikes have no power and the sword wouldnt be able to cut even a coke bottle...
@Raikoukouken you obviously dont know much about swords because you can tell he has that sword extremely controlled even when cutting quickly. and just to say ive been training for awhile with swords. coming up on 9 years. btw id love to see you use a sword, oh wait you have no videos except a favorited video called "booty dance" so ill just think you are a "keyboard swordsman" that thinks he knows what he is talking about from movies.
@Raikoukouken What are you talking about? "wouldnt be able to cut even a coke bottle" he just cut plenty of bottles right there in front of you. And if you ask me his form is pretty damn good. sure it could use some improvement but we is well on his way.
2nd if you knew anything about physics you would know that the strongest point of a strike would be at the middle of the blade not the tip. Pick up a book sometime it's good for you.
@harrison28514 no swords are all faced up wards because its faster for drawing... down wards is better for parrying and also fast cuts which is hard to do with one
@chowmeincorner yeah, kodachi are meant to have the blade facing up. It only took a few seconds for me to realize how stupid my comment was. I didn't know what was on my mind.......... But for Tachi the blade faces down.
Wooooooooooo at first I though man another shity vid... but I was wrong good work man good form good slashes well am more than impress and am a Tenshin Shoden Katori shinto-ryu swordsman

The katana was to sharp and dangerous to be used in training, so the samurai's developed the bokken.
The bokken resembled the katana in weight and shape, and so i thought... Can the bokken cut through things the katana?
The answer is yes, it can. My bokken cuts through cardboard and snowmen, and it is capeable of shattering ice.
