  • It is hilarious when people call the Miata a "chick car". I have been fortunate enough to drive, race and to own many fast and expensive cars but I recently acquired an older Miata and I can't recall a more enjoyable car to drive. These cars are proper sportscars the way a sports car is supposed to be - open top, Independent suspension, short throw shiter, and just enough power to make you DRIVE to go fast.. A Raceland header, homemade intake tube, and ZX-10 exhaust cannisters is enough..

  • @terracer I have a 350whp Subaru STI and I still love my Miata as my daily =)

  • @STI4Life06 OMG!! Now THAT would be a fun car to drive! I had a TT when they first hit the states.. I could sit and stare at the car because the shape was just stunning..(to me anyways) but I couldn't grow to love the AWD. I read later that Audi had adjusted the handling (added understeer) for safety before exporting to the US. It still needed more power - 225 wasn't enough.. I bet 350 on all four corners is a hoot!

  • @terracer yeah the STI is an understeer machine stock lol. I was able to create a tiny bit of oversteer by upgrading to revalved struts/springs,camber, and swaybars. After all that driving and AWD car around a track is a dream =)

  • @STI4Life06 350 HP doesn't hurt huh! Oh what fun that must be - enjoy..

  • The engine that should have come with the Miata in the first place.

  • seriously you need aircon. on a droptop/sportscar??

  • Difference in performance/handling/practicality?

  • King of Miata swaps right here. The only thing that even comes close is a KL swap. 20B swap comes in third.

    V8 swaps are heresy.

  • Sick!

I've seen swaps like this go for less than 3k.... people need to learn to do the work themselves. 13bs are easy to find, cheap to rebuild, and no engine management is needed if you go the carb route. Swapping over the fc/fd fuel sys isn't hard, and megasquirt is cheap compared to the other components. You can also use the stock miata transmission with a simple mod.

  • it would not cost that much

    miata shell-1000 n thats expensive

13b rotary-2000 with turbo and trans

    driveshaft custom-100

    megasquirt-750-1200

thats not even close to 10000

  • Your costings are way off

  • @shortshifter420 id run a AEM EMS instead of mega squirt

and the drive shaft shop website will build you a brandnew custom shaft for 350.00 it comes balanced right out the box

  • where can i get further informations about this engine swap ?

  • this kind of engine swap cost aroud 10 000$ to 15 000$

  • id love to know how to do this too. ill do it one day. all my friends think im stupid for thinking it... a girls car. how wrong they would be! amazing

  • DAM NCIE BOV

  • Quite a BOV! Looks like a fun car.

  • Miata + Rotary = Perfection

  • Wow, that's simply beautiful.

How many pounds of boost are you running?

  • sleeper :-)

    pretty nice

but is it true that a rotary sucks alot of gas?

  • yes

  • Just like anything else, it depends on how you drive it.

  • @Maxrev yes. they get like 14mpg avg.

  • LS1 lighter than a rotary cos the are all alloy? Think again. LS1 engine 208Kg and 13b 81Kg. Plus V8 trans is huge.

  • where is deals gap U.S. or Canada

  • Its in NC, USA.... simple google search will tell you eveything

  • i love this road even iam from europe and havent evr been in USA- and to be true dont want to, ... but its really good tool to compare cars or motorcycles... have you seen a yeallow goldwing? this was the most serious thing i ve seen riding a deals gap... but miata rocks-

  • @adison42 The 'wing guy you are talking about is Yellow Wolf or something like that - the guy KNOWS the dragon like the back of his hand. Many a sportbike rider or boy racer wanna-be has been humiliated by this guy on that big ole Honda. He told me once how much he spent on tires and it blew me away.. more than most earn in a year. The bike is dialed in and the guy can RIDE...

  • Man I drove in the opposite direction of you all once and about shit my pants counting how many Miatas I saw.

  • damn thats gotta be a blast.

  • 1. Miata's are the most fun car to drive ever

    2. Anyone that has not driven one has no idea

    3. Miata drivers dont care about more power! My penis is fine thankyou haha

  • ls1 vs. 13b? are you guys serious? Your talking about 1.3L vs. 5.7L and it's a tie. A 5.7L rotory would spank an ls1 10 ways to sunday.

  • 5.7L Rotary?

Perhaps a 20b would be better to have in a miata :D (i used to own one and i loved it, as soon as i get the chance i wil be buying another one and swapping a strong motor in it (maybe a rotary or a v8.. depends what i find)

  • ls1 engines are lighter than 13b's because the are all aluminum, 13b's don't have any torque but their copact size and high revving nature make them pretty easy to modify plus less moving parts make them a glutton for punishment in a good way at least.

  • I think I know your car. Hey, what happened to the original piston engine? Did it have rod knock? I think I am the guy that got your old head/intake/oil pump.

  • Though the rotary maybe about as heavy as the ls1, its more compact and puts the weight lower and further back than you can achieve with a v8. IMO both are sick haha

  • the one at 2:15 or so and beyond has the coolest blow off valve i have ever heard

  • ignorant ... try and keep up through a mountain pass like this in a mans extension of a car and the miata will watch you understeer off the side of the cliff (in his rear visor).

  • its amazing how many people still live in the dark, and if they are chick cars, why are you here watching videos of them doing what they are best at? sounds like you are jelous and you want one but you cant for whatever reason, maybe your wife wont let you? nice huh

  • my miata can go 140 without trying at all

  • Attention to you..... it has a 13b in it.

What a wanker.... at least watch the video you comment on.

  • @disgruntldtoad

    1, Your a dumb ass

    2. See 1.

A car that weighs 2100lbs and has a freaking 13b in it is slow your a real idiot for that comment

  • @disgruntldtoad Attention. Youre an ignorant buffoon.

    1. Name one production car that has 100hp that is faster than a miata.

    2. How is the most raced car in america a "chick car" I guess high speed track racing is for chicks? Count me in.

  • @disgruntldtoad ....obviously never heard of autox

  • Is this the only rotary-powered Miata in the world?

  • heck no. mazsport (dot) net used to advertise a swap kit. but I think their newly designed website if focusing on their rx-8 products. Google Miata Rotary swap

  • compared to an LS1, a rotary weighs almost exactly the same with all it's components...yeah an old v8 will weigh a ton more, but it's a common misconception that rotaries are rly light...notice all the shit in the rotary's engine bay...the housing and everything is cast iron...heavy as hell btw...i don't know the exact weight of a BP-ZE, but the rotary has got to be twice the weight...

  • @svenonline5 Huh? A 13B weights 220 - closer to 250 dressed (according to Mazda)while an LS1 is almost 500 lbs dressed (according to the LS1Tech site). The light weight is why so many small aircraft use the wankel.

  • love this car

  • I would love to put a rotary in my miata. I'd have to pay it off first, lol. Just wandering, whats the 0-60 time?

  • Uhm...that's an FC's 13BT...not the FD's 13B-REW twin turbo...just to let you guys know :D

  • super light car + Torque of a rotary = one flyyyy ride lol loved it, very nice turbo sound

  • Hate to tell you but rotarys ain't that torquey at all, pal. They live in redline.

  • amen...it's great technology, but there are so many misconceptions about the pros and cons of rotaries...and forget torque lol<3

  • I drove a race beat powerd 85 rx7 for 11 years

god i miss that car. I sold it

  • Now given the Miata's perfect weight balance, and its designers being so anal about weight that they'll shave 68grams off the rear view mirror, i cringe at the idiots that put the V8 in and expect good performance.

But in my opinion i was surprised Mazda didn't put the 1.3 twin rotor in the miata right off the bat, for god's sake the miat's tranny is about the same as the first gen rx-7 lol...

    nicely done

  • I think the dry weight of a 5.0 motor with accesories is something like 425 pounds (for the guy who commented on the rediculous weight of V8s). I think a 1.8l BP (stock miata engine) weighs 300 something, for the extra motor, not a huge difference. A 13b prolly weighs almost as much despite its compact size. The real weight advantage of that 13b as far as I can tell is moving all the weight lower in the engine bay and closer to the firewall.

  • So you are saying that a V8 and a rotary is pretty much samey same. Funny guy :P Rotary engine weighs next to nothing compared to a V8, and it's more compact as you say so it can be placed more tactile.

  • 1.3L wankel?

  • Did I see this car at the shop in largo FL...

If so really nice job clean.. But you paid a pretty penny.. Built for drift... Right?
