  • Nice! That is a Yanuziello guitar BTW.

  • LOVE IT !!!

  • floyd did this years ago. its atmospheric music. not difficult.

  • @mensamoo Yes but music is all about what feeling and message delivers. Rest is details. Of course... I am passioned about the instrument and how I feel it in my hands and what I can do with it but in the end... what touches my soul brings me joy, not the scale I play and how fast I do it :).

  • @softman88 Of course. Some paintings look simplistic but are beautiful. I should not have emphasised the complexity.... respect!

  • @mensamoo So many guys had done it before Floyd.

  • @MeurglysIV yes. wish they were here now.

  • is that a kingslight guitar?

  • Love it when players like this break the mould.

  • brilliant....

  • totally getting high and listening to this later :D

  • @Rellefg8 You can skip that first thing. Same effect. :)

  • Ray is like the only one getting into it... the other 2 guys are just playing along... they're phenomenal musicians, but they seem to be emotionless, and you can kind of tell through the music

  • so great!

the musik feels like a very good trip.

  • feeling, my boys. Most guitar players are just fast notes jukeboxes... in other words: a pile of shit.

  • What's the difference if he's swaying, moving from side to side, dancing of bauncing?? If you don't like it, turn off your monitor and just listen him playing:)

  • i think the way he moves it's the coolest way to move while playing a guitar!

  • He's not swaying, He's on a cruise ship trying to keep his balance.

  • Fantastique je l'écoute depuis février et y'as rien a redire sa me donne toujours autant d'émotion...

  • Excepting everything about Ray I just wanna say - All the band is amazing.

  • @Zhunezhen

    just love the drumming!

  • @will1956 Yeah, without the headphones he can play with sample. He is strong but not technically. He has strong taste of music and think that this is the main way that we must follow in music.

  • @Zhunezhen who can tell how strong he is technically? Playing slow does require a good sense of time... Of course, we'll compare him to Mark Knopfler, who can play slow very well and does play fast, although he doesn't communicate rock n roll energy... One has to remember that artists play what they get known for: a sound signature, no matter how good they can be at other styles...

  • Totally agree that his music is amazing. pairing a great vocalist would be an excellent move for him.

  • love these guys awesome ...so much feeling an emotion in there tracks ,it just build with waves of a intence nature

  • Ray is amazing. Saw him live a couple of years back and will forever treasure that experience. I only wish that he could pair a vocalist with his amazing music. I think that would bring him to a whole new level.

  • Great music...Great musician ....great band.

  • that's just great music, great playing

    I enjoyed it very much

    thanks!

  • man i need to get this album

  • Really, this song is just too good, i can`t stop listening to it. A perfect blend musicality, feeling and craftsmanship. Koodos Ray and the gang. Keep `em comig i love it. :-)

  • COOL!!

  • Beatiful sound of great plays. Fantastic tone making of guitar. Love that drummer. His playing helps the band even more mature. Outstanding performance!

  • This song and all of their songs is like a temporary vacation for my soul.

  • @obsesedwithpb15 A-GRRREEEEEDDD!!!

  • yeah, what guitar is he using in this video?

  • oh my!!!! so much feeeeeel!!!!

  • Ray Montford has a very good handle on the electronics of good guitar. He knows how to use his equipment, not to mention his mastery of the stringed instrument itself. I love that. Sure hope he's not tweekin.

  • oh my god. i really cant think of anything to comment about this fucking master piece! this is art! this is.. this is THIS! OMG!

  • @bajsface2 THIS IS SPARTA!!!!!!!!!!! sorry, just thought i'd throw that out there :D

  • what guitar is that?

  • This would be even more amazing if it had a solo in it.

  • Beautiful

  • Pink Floydish

  • Rpoland is one of hThe Best Music Channels of YouTube, It has real musicians who really fell the music in their souls. This is just splendid guys.

  • @Rickwrigth his soul is really picky about the sound of his guitar :)

  • I keep coming back to this fabulously beautiful, darkly energising, sparse masterpiece! I totally agree with gertrudesbiz!

  • His thighs must get a mean burn after playing lol :) I like it!

  • Men do you know why this is I-DEAL? Look at his guitar! And now listen for his guitar! And then look at his face! At his body! This is his stuff of playing - he is all the music. Who's similar? Nobody!

  • Isn't this the credit score for a movie? I've definitely heard this somewhere on tv.

  • Man i love this guys music, he does get an impressive sway up here ay?! hahaha its good, and when the camera cuts off his feet it looks like hes just some cardboard cutout and someones like swaying him around! haha good stuff guys!

  • Mildly addictive....approximately a thousand of the views are me playing this over and over and loving it! Thanks. Will get your CD! :>) JH

  • to all that comments about how much of a nob he looks while playing...all i can say to u's is for all i care he could be playing with his head up his ass (which would be impresive i might add) if this is what inspires him to help create this music then sway to your fuckin harts content my friend ;-)

  • @ Ryoku1989

  • Beautiful!

    Well done Ray...

"A Fragile Balance" which was also released as a High Quality vinyl LP is one of my favorite LPs!!

  • Beautiful song

  • this is the most relaxing song ive heard in a while =]

  • I like that track.. nothin over the top fancy.

Just a good solid sound and I thought I heard tinges of a Boss slicer pedal in there somewhere???

The first guitar he played looked to me a bit like a Danelectro??

  • amazing playing

  • @Zaidejas1324 Exactly.

  • This is so intense. I sounds like music people would use in their movies.

  • thats what i was thinking! ( - ;

  • @Dman3981 Who are music people?

  • he meant he likes music that people would use in movies...

  • Wow what is that guitar?? Hugh sound for a small guitar. I agree that switch to the bow was great.

  • Awesome piece of music, love when the bassist switches to playing with a bow, adds a great sound :D

  • Beautiful, reminds me of a Dredg instrumental.

  • Amazing. Very soothing, almost a nostalgic pinkfloyd sound. Unique yet very reminiscent Truly talented work!

  • fuckin amazing!

  • wow...that snare!!

  • i play guitar but i dont know who any of those people are lol. never been much interested in names or history tho.

  • Me too. Although I think I will do some research and learn more about music (anything about music).

  • @darkinmysilence Please put down your guitar if you are not interested in names or history.

  • @rootvalue please mind your own business. ill continue to play because i love music.

  • @darkinmysilence You wouldn't be able to play music if music wasn't played; you must have heard music at some point in your life. :P

The music we listen to may be via the radio, internet or television, and to stand out from the rest, you've got to have talent.

But, talent doesn't mean anything if you don't know what to do with it. So an aspiring guitarist (like yourself, right?) listens to what guitarists are doing and uses their talent to emulate similar sounds. We're on the same team. :)

  • brittany put out a new cd? whats the name of it? lol!!!!! i think all arts have levels, kinda like a ruler!! some people listen in inches while others listen in 64ths!!! eric johnson, which is my favorite and yngwie are examples of the 64ths!!!!

  • I need at least 10 inches.

  • @adsensus That's what she said.

  • Your right, imagin her disappointment.

  • lol, i dont know about her new album, but im excited!!! lol, anyway i like guys like derek trucks and warren haynes and they dont play in 64ths, what im saying is that they have soul in their playing, not just a bunch of fast scales...

  • including johnson, timmons and govan

  • sounds cool!!!

  • this is freaking excellent! .... pure talent!

  • is that a five string double bass or am i st seein things ????

  • Damn Owl City to Hell! This is REAL talent right here!

  • @WolfSyndrome Whoever thought owl city was talented? lol, no offense

  • People worship the ever-loving shit out of Owl City and they don't earn an ounce of it! Long live REAL music!

  • @WolfSyndrome when you can write a song like this, or like an owl city song, you can talk about talent.

  • I like this song...Owl City, not so much...but to address your statement, you don't have to have musical talent in order to tell if someone else has it. That would be like saying you can't comment on how good of an artist Yngwie Malmsteen is unless you can do what he does.

  • actually you don't have to have musical talent to make a baseless opinionated statement. IE: Yngwie has technique but fits the part of a soul-less shredder, and easily appealing to the musically illiterate. especially compared to the likes of Eric Johnson. Also, owl city is not talented as thezdog put. if you want to write an owl city song download garageband/fruityloops/ect. a monkey can make music with those.

  • Listen to Andy Timmons, Guthrie Govan, Eric Johnson, those are electric guitar players with both talent and soul, i cold probably list another 50 people the general public knows nothing about, but they know that britney spears just put out a new album (for instance)

  • @jgivler oh, what would we do without music historians like you :(((

  • Thanks oscar, your guitar playing speaks for itself :(

  • @jgivler yeah everyone who plays guitar knows all those people

  • btw, the work buckethead did with travis dickerson (chicken noodles and the dragons of eden albums) are amazing, buckethead is one versatile guitarist!

  • I posted this just as an example of some electric guitar players who have the chops but also have soul behind it and talent, not for others to hate on me....hint hint oscar and bucket

  • reminds me of Waking Vision. quite good.

  • you guys never say something your so quilet

  • Fantastic.

  • Sick ending... those last few seconds are sweet!!

  • In case anyone is wondering, yes, that is Gary Craig, the drummer who played with Gregory Hoskins (also here on Candy Rat).

  • thanks, I thought I recognised him

  • VERY nice. love it guys. keep it up!!!

  • This is fantastic

  • Do they have more of these guys? That bass looks sick

  • yea ...add a solo..that would sound awesome ..i really like how this sounds, nice work

  • You should create your own and put it on youtube. That would be sick.

  • Ok - absolutely like that!!!!

  • so trippy

  • This was awesome. I'd like to sing over it.

  • this was incredible, but at first thought it was the edge, lol :P

  • LOVE this! Thanks to candyrat for signing people who are not just shredders, you will be receiving materials from me sometime this year...

  • Amazing..

  • I think Petrucci needs to lay down a solo over this...anyone else think so?

  • THAT WOULD BE AMAZING!!!

  • amen to that brother!

  • Awe inspiring. I love it.

  • Seriously, I feel like I got the first few minutes of a ten minute song... Good though, in a good way... but where is the rest of it?

  • NICE PIECE I LOVE IT!!!

  • Reminded me of This Will Destroy You or another Post-Rock group. Just this was less "over-produced" in a way.

Not heavily coated with different effects and filters, I suppose.

  • wow , its totally inspiring. emotional, powerful. .

  • This is beautiful.

  • it was slow and kinda boring, but it built up in a amazing way ! I don't know, but i listen to it over and over again !

  • oohhh <3

  • Ending is amazing. I was like ''FUCK WHY END IT NOW'' it just started to get good.

  • Very difficult to get right

  • Very nice.

  • amazing song

  • super talented!!!!

  • This was awesome.

It's stunning how precisely they are handling the instruments.

  • This sounds like the end of the world.

  • this guy looks like Edge before 20 years, great song

  • Haha that's exactly what I was thinking

  • What ever happened to White Power!?

  • But seriously, this is good stuf. That drummer is killer.

  • Well we had hoped that ignorance had died. good job keeping it alive. a hole

  • amazing!
